《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 007

In the main hall the Court officials had been waiting a while for the new King to make an appearance. They had not made any decisions about him yet but they knew that they needed to make sure he was capable as both a leader and a warrior. It was only a matter of time before the next attack from the Anglo Saxons so they had to be ready.

After a while of waiting and discussing certain issues Arthur finally arrived with Merlin following behind him. He was dressed in fine red and purple clothes that gave off an impressive aura. He stood before them in the throne room not as a King but as a student. They all were impressed by his stride and the pride he seemed to carry despite his untrained body.

“Good morning, my King. We will start with a basic drill with the sword.” One of the Court officials said as a knight approached him armed with a blade and wearing leather armor.

Merlin handed Arthur Caliburn and took a few steps back so he could watch. With a wave of the Court officials hand the knight charged at Arthur. He swung his blade at him from the side which Arthur blocked without even thinking. The knight recoiled back and went in for a jab of his sword. Rather than it piercing Arthur it instead was knocked back by Caliburn and without any hesitation Arthur brought the blade to the knight's neck. The knight froze in shock as did the Court officials.

“See! He’s a master already.” Merlin said with an almost equally shocked expression. Arthur took a step back and released the blade from the knight’s neck. Merlin looked at him and he seemed different, at least his gaze did. It was as if the blade itself became Arthur.

“Again!” the Court officials said. This time the knight attacked with a swing from above. Arthur, rather than blocking, charged forward and stuck the blade against the knights throat again. He had a heartless gaze as he stared at the knight’s terrified eyes.

“We have seen enough. You have quite the skill with Caliburn.” the court official said.

“Excalibur. “Arthur said.

“What?”

“The blade's name is now Excalibur.” Arthur stated.

“I see… then you are quite skilled with Excalibur, my Lord. Merlin will take you to your study and we shall send someone shortly to begin your lessons.” The Court official said.

“Of course, thank you.” Arthur said before walking over to Merlin who guided him to the study.

By the end of the day Arthur was losing his mind. The endless classes on how to handle negotiations and dealing with politics was making him wish he had stayed in the woods his entire life. The only thing he had to look forward to was the fact that his family would be arriving tonight. Even though he was only gone for a single day it seemed like forever since he last saw them.

He waited outside near the stables for them to finally arrive like someone waiting for someone to leave the bathroom so they could go. It made the stablemen anxious that the King was just waiting there so not much actually got done. He offered to help them with their horses but they refused since they wouldn’t dare put the King to work in the stables.

Rather than arriving on horseback the witches arrived in a carriage filled with all of their belongings. Not only did they bring their everyday belongings but they also brought their cooking pot and all of their medicinal supplies. The people sent to retrieve them were unable to comprehend why they needed everything in their cottage but Arthur knew exactly why. As witches, they couldn’t go anywhere without their livelihood. It was more a matter of necessity than emotional ties to them. While the castle staff helped unload all of the items Arthur led mother Ramus, Rhea, and Morgana into the castle. Merlin was there to greet them and lead them to the dining room.

“I’ve never seen so much food!” Morgana exclaimed as she began to dig in. Rhea and Ramus both agreed and ate at a more refined pace.

“I’m glad you like it but don’t forget to breathe.” Arthur said with a chuckle. She gave him a face of indignation and continued to stuff her face.

“So, my King, how have things been going over the past few days?” Mother Ramus asked.

“The classes are tiring and the sword I have to carry at all times now is a burden.” Arthur said.

“Does it speak to you?” Rhe asked.

“It does but only when I am in danger.” Arthur said as he looked as the blade by his side.

“That means you must have formed a connection with it. Your father had a similar connection with it but he would never tell me about it.” Mother Ramus said.

“I suspect he had his reasons.” Arthur said.

“I know he did and I would rather you not but I can understand if you don’t want to tell me about it.” she said as she took another bite of her food.

After dinner was over they were led to their new rooms where Rhea and Ramus both felt true bliss as they fell into their beds. Morgana on the other hand left her room as soon as she realized that the hallways were clear. Sneaking out of her room she quickly ran down the hall.
