Having been accepted into the ranks of the knight of Camelot, Mordred was given a bed in the barracks as well as her own set of training armor. The morning after the tournament she was awoken by the sound of a horn. Getting up out of the fear that Camelot was under attack she threw on the armor she was given. Before she could grab a weapon though a knight walked into the barracks.

"Morning everyone! All of you have been chosen to be knights and so I expect all of you to act like one. Since you're just starting out you will be required to do chores between training. You're going to hate it but I assure you that it will be worth it. I am Sir Gwaine and I will be your teacher" Gwaine said.

The groggy eyed teens all looked at him with confusion. All except for Mordred and Elijah who had both gotten into their armor before Gwaine had even entered the barracks. Having been ready Gwaine called them out and told them that since they were already prepared then they could go ahead and go to breakfast. Everyone else had to get themselves ready as well as sweep the training field before they could eat.

“So I saw how you did against Sir Lancelot yesterday.” Elijah saidas the two sat down to eat.

“Yeah, how I got my ass handed to me.” Mordred replied as she ate some of the eggs and sausage she was given.

“Well, at least you could land a hit on him. I couldn’t touch Sir Lucan and he is considered one of the weakest knights.” Elijah said as he pointed his fork at her.

“You still held your own though.” she replied.

“And you didn’t? Lancelot is considered the fiercest of knights and you wiped the floor with him for a good little bit. I never knew the man could actually get hit. How exactly did you get that strong and fast?” Elijah asked.

“Magic.” she answered.

“Fine, don’t tell me but I know your secret.” Elijah said.

“What secret?” she asked after nearly choking on her sausage.

“That you’re a woman.” he said nonchalantly. She stared at him in shock.

“Please don’t tell anyone but how did you know?” she asked in a way that made it sound like he just killed her dog.

“Your pants are too thin and despite that you had no bulge. You also speak like you're trying to pretend that you’re a grown man. Just talk normally for now and you should be fine. Though you don’t need to worry about me saying something as I have no desire to tell anyone. If you can hold your own against a monster of a knight like Lancelot then you have every right to be here as anyone else. However, the baths may be a bit difficult for you.” Elijah said.

“What’s wrong with the baths?” she asked.

“All of the initiates take baths as a group to keep water from being wasted. You’ll probably need someone to watch your back and make sure your secret stays a secret.” Elijah said with an apologetic tone in his voice.

“You're Probably right. If you could help me then I would be grateful.” Mordred said.

“I’ll help you out of respect but why can’t you just explain it to Gwaine? He should be able to pull some strings.” Elijah asked.

“I would rather not have to explain my situation to one of the knights and I doubt that some of them would want me to stay if they found out.” Mordred said.

“I can see why they would be skeptical about it. You might be right about being better off keeping it a secret.” Elijah said as he wiped his chin.

“Thanks for understanding.” she said.

“You’re welcome. However, you shouldn’t be so accepting of people. We all have our own desires that we will do anything to achieve.”

“And what desire do you have that I would need to be wary of?”

“You look like you could become a knight in the King’s court one day. Because of that I figured I would stick by you and maybe I can ride with you up to the top.” he replied with a wry smile.

“So you just want to be lazy?”

“No, I just know what my strengths are. If I stick by someone that would allow my own strengths to be better seen, then I too can rise through the ranks with them.” Elijah elaborated.

“Okay, then I guess we are accomplices from now on?” she asked as she extended her hand.

“I guess so.” he said as he shook her hand with a smile.
