《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 019

Once the battle was over Mordred was tired and covered in a mix of blood, sweat, and dirt that didn't smell all that great. The field below her and the other knights was stained a bright crimson and ultimately she didn't like it. The feeling of killing someone didn't bother her but the feeling that came after did. Knowing that she just took another life with a soul without a second thought. However, those depressing thoughts were drowned out by the feeling of pain that came over her when the adrenaline wore off.

Her joints and muscles ached like she had just done the world's hardest exercise. Despite this Sir Gwaine and a few of the other knights called for the initiates to start grabbing barrels of oil. Rather than bury the dead they had decided to burn them in order to save time and avoid possible disease. Once the oil was spread through the field of corpses and water was spread heavily on the edges of it, a flaming arrow was shot. The flames consumed all of the flesh that littered the field, gave off a horrid smell. Many knights were distraught by the smell and began feeling sick.

While some watched over the burning field many of the knights headed back towards Camelot with Arthur. However, due to how tired they were the knights set up camp only an hour's walk away from the field. Using a nearby river they were able to get most of the blood and dirt off and quickly went to sleep. Mordred and Elijah themselves were both exhausted and fell asleep as well, barely caring about anything other than rest.

Once back at Camelot all of the surviving initiates were dubbed full fledged knights. However, for the act of protecting the King Mordred was given the title of Sir and made a squad leader. As such she was given a room outside of the barracks and would be given special instructions directly from the knights of the round table or Arthur himself. That said, she was absolutely clueless as to what that entailed so most of her time was spent by asking her superiors what she needed to do.

Eventually they gave up on giving her new jobs to do as she would complete them easily so they sent her and whomever else she wished to watch over the eastern front. Over the next several years Mordred and Elijah would both move up through the ranks and become knights of the Round Table. Mordred was only nineteen at the time and had finally reached the goal her mother wanted her to complete. Now came the hard part.

Merlin stood completely still and in shock at what just came from Mordred’s mouth. The words came through clearly but for some reason he could not comprehend them. Stepping back he took another look at Mordred. He was surprised that he had never realized it before.

“Mordred, are you sure that you are the child of Arthur?” Merlin asked.

“I am the daughter of Arthur and Morgana.” Mordred stated.

“You’re a woman?” he asked in even more shock than before. To be honest he looked like he was about to have a heart attack.

“Yes, I’ve gotten good at pretending over the years.” she said.

“If that is true then I need to have a talk with the King at once… you aren’t going to try and kill him are you?” he asked..

“What? No!”

“Good.” Merlin said as he steadied himself.

“May I come with you.” Mordred asked somewhat politely.

“I don’t see why not.” he said with a somewhat dumbfounded smile. Merlin walked off to the room that held the Round Table. Arthur was currently having a meeting with some of the other knights when Merlin walked in but Merlin didn’t care.

“Merlin, you seem bothered. What’s wrong?” Arthur asked as Merlin walked in.

“I need to have a word with you, in private.” Merlin said to him in a somewhat hushed tone.

“Of course. You three are dismissed.” Arthur said as he waved off the three knights. As they got up and walked out Mordred walked in slowly and timidly. As soon as they were all out and the doors were shut Arthur began speaking.

“What has happened, Merlin? Is it more Saxon’s?” Arthur asked.

“No, much more dire.” Merlin said.

“Then what?” Arthur said as he sank into his chair with a worried voice.

“That one…” Merlin started as he pointed at Mordred.

“Yes?” Arthur urged him to finish.

“Is your daughter?” Merlin finished before biting his lip.

“... What!” Arthur said, unsure if he heard correctly as he stood up.

“We’ll have to let her see Excalibur to see if she is really your child but that’s up to you.” Merlin said.

“Who’s the mother?” Arthur asked Mordred with a tinge of anger in his voice which contrasted his wet eyes.

“Lady Morgana.” Mordred answered timidly.

“Oh, God.” Arthur said as he began to weep a little. However, he dried his tears quickly and drew his sword. Stabbing it into the ground it fused with the stone.

“...”

“Pull the sword.” he said to Mordred.
