《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 022

“Glad to hear it. Though you guys should probably stop talking when I go into this village. It probably wouldn't look good if a man in a creepy mask had a talking amulet. I would rather not be burned at the stake.” I said to the four currently trapped inside of my pendant.
“Understandable. Just stay out of trouble. According to Iscarat we can help you fight from in here but it will be difficult.” Elysif responded.
“Thanks.” I replied before walking into the village. One of the farmers walked up to me because I obviously looked strange.
He was a big burly man with muscles on his muscles. He was dressed in a dirty white tunic shirt and brown slack pants that were tied with a rope to keep them from falling down. His head was bald as could be and even reflected the sun above like a glowing orb which made him seem even scarier.
“Who are you and what’s your trade?” the man asked as he stopped me in my path.
“I fight monsters and my name is uh… Micheal.” I replied. Even though they were in the amulet I could feel them all giving me a strange look.
“Micheal, huh. We don’t get many monster hunters around here. What’s with the mask though?” he asked.
“It’s cursed. I can’t seem to get it off.” I stated. He eyed me up and down for a moment.
“If you need to then you can stay in the hay barn for the night. Though I would like you to help me get some of my sheep round up for the night in return.” he said with a smile.
“Of course.” I replied. He gestured for me to follow him to the field north of the village. Around fifty sheep were all grazing in a giant circle with three people shepherding them. However, many of the sheep were running away from the village rather than staying with the herd. A dog was trying its best to keep them herded towards the village but it seemed that it was too much for the old dog.

“Go up there and help guide down any stragglers. If you do it right then it should only take till the sun goes down.” he said as he pointed at the sky. It was probably around six at the time and it felt like summer so it could possibly be two hours before I’m done. No wonder he wanted me to help him instead of paying him.
Hoping the fence I jogged up the hill to the shepherds and began running sheep back to the herd like the dog was. It felt stupid and several of them would slip by me even though I was trying to help them. Why must they be so rebellious? I thought sheep were supposed to follow, not run off and do their own thing. Whoever said that obviously didn’t pay enough attention to sheep.
“I’ll send you to the past, he said. It’ll be fun, he said. I expected dragons and knights, not fucking herding sheep!” I said to myself in an annoyed tone as I had finished getting all of the sheep into their pen for the night.
“You agreed to do it.” Elysif said from the amulet snarkily.
“She is right. That seems like a you problem.” Compton agreed.
“You guys don’t have to do this. You get to enjoy your time inside of a cozy magic amulet while I have to work for a bed.” I replied with an annoyed one. Walking into the barn the burly man had laid out a blanket for me on a hay pile that looked more comfortable than any bed for some reason. I jumped on it and wrapped myself in the blanket before going to sleep.
As I dozed off I began to hear barking. This wasn’t the bark of the sheep dog though. It sounded more sinister. Like a monster's bark. I paid it no mind though as I was far too tired. Then I heard it again. Not just one but what sounded like a dozen. This time it caught my attention so I quickly shot up and drew my knife before running to the barn door. Looking out I saw a large pack of demon-like dogs charging at the village from the west.

They had grey crusty fur and purple glowing eyes. Sharp horns protruded from their heads and their teeth seemed like thousands of spiny razors. Following them was another kind of creature. It’s body reminded me of a willowisp but its head seemed more like a bat’s. Not knowing what else to do I charged at the demon dogs. One of them jumped at me only for me to stab it through the throat. It turned into an ashen dust as I penetrated it. Another tried to do the same, only for the same outcome to occur.
More charged at me only to end up dead. Ripping through their weak points as best as I could one by one they fell. However, too many of them began to attack me at once. I fell to the ground as they jumped on me. One attempted to bite at my face but I was able to stick my arm in its path. It ripped at my flesh in a way I had never felt before which caused me to yelp in pain. As I yelped I saw several streaks of blood weave through the air around me. The demon dogs around me were ripped to shreds and blood was sprayed everywhere.
“Thanks.” I said, knowing exactly who that was.
“You’re welcome.” I heard Elysif say from inside the amulet.
Looking over I saw the burly man charging at one of the willowisp-like creatures with an axe. The creature dodged the axe and struck the man as hard as it could in the head. The burly man was sent to the ground. As it went to strike him again I chucked my knife at the creature, impaling it through the chest and turning it into ashen dust. The burly man looked surprised as I ran over and drew the knife back to my hand like magic.
“Go send for help. I’ll do what I can to fend these things off.” I told him. He nodded and had one of the shepherds quickly get on a horse and ride off to the east.
