《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 023

The creatures kept on attacking for most of the night as if there was no end to them. Even though the burly man was trying to help I just had him go inside to protect his family and workers as it was too difficult to defend him and myself. Eventually I found that it was easier and more effective to throw my knife and let it fly through the air like some magic arrow than to just keep stabbing them. Once I had killed all of them I was tired as could be. My eyes looked bloodshot through the mask and it felt like one of them was twitching from the fact that I hadn’t slept in nearly three days.

“Thank you so much.” the burly man said as I had finished.

“You’re welcome. I really need to lay down though.” I said in a very tired tone.

“Of course. Please stay in one of our beds instead of the barn. You’ve more than earned it.” he said before walking me to the house.

“Thank you.” I said as I slowly walked my way inside and layed down.

Arthur and his knights rode slowly into the village. Ashen dust littered the ground along with the severed corpses of several hellhounds. Not a single human body was counted among them. What surprised them the most was the fact that the farmers were already working on their daily morning chores and some were even cleaning up the hellhound corpses.

“What happened here? We have come from Camelot to give our aid.” Arthur asked the burly man.

“My liege, the situation has already been handled. I am sorry to have sent you on a wild goose chase but a monster hunter who was staying the night took care of them and protected us.” the burly man replied as he got down on a knee and bowed.

“Where is this monster hunter?” Arthur asked.

“He is resting inside.” he replied.

“Mordred, go with him and see this monster hunter.” Arthur said.

Mordred hopped from her horse and followed the burly man into his home. Laying in his bed was a man with grey hair and a strange mask. His clothes were unlike any she had ever seen and his snoring made her think he was a monster himself. She walked to the side of the bed and tried tapping his shoulder but he didn’t even stir from it.

“Wake up!” she yelled.

“I’m up! I’m up!.” I shouted as I shot up from bed. Standing before me was Mordred wearing cloth and chainmail armor with her sword sheathed at her side.

“Mordred? What are you doing here?” I asked groggily.

“How do you know my name?” she asked.

“What are you talking about? You gave me your name when you told me you were King Arthur’s daughter, remember?” I said with a still groggy sensation. Mordred drew her sword and slammed it into the wall of the cottage before getting very close to my face. It was around then that I realized that this wasn’t the same Mordred that was in my pendant.

“How do you know that?” she whispered in a very threatening tone.

“Would you believe that you yourself told me?” I asked as I really didn’t want her to impale me.

“You know what? I don’t really care how you know. You obviously care for people since you protected these farmers last night so I’ll let Arthur handle you. However, I want you to always address me as a man around everyone. Are we clear?”

“So that’s how it is. I’m fine with that.” I said in a slightly scared tone as she removed her sword from the wall and sheathed it.

Having been woken up from my sleep several hours early I was groggily led outside to see several people in armor on horseback. One of which was an older man wearing a crown. I was led over to him where he eyed me up and down for a moment.

“Who are you, monster hunter?” he asked.

“My name is Micheal.” I replied.

“And I am Arthur, King of the Briton’s. Please remove your mask?” Arthur asked.

“I cannot. It is cursed and has fused to my face. Had it not fused to my face I would have removed it far sooner.” I said truthfully. He clicked his tongue and thought for a moment.

“I understand. Would you please come to Camelot with us? We have many questions for you that I believe would be better suited for my court.” he asked.

“Of course, your highness.” I replied with a slight bow of my head.

“Then you shall ride with one of my knights. Choose whomever you wish to ride with.” Arthur said as he turned his horse around and started riding back to Camelot. Without much choice I hopped on the horse with Mordred who wasn’t exactly pleased that I had done so.
