《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 026

The man that Merlin was speaking to seemed to be biting his tongue. It didn't help that he was giving me a glare of what seemed like disdain. Being the asshole I was, I figured that being nice to him would either make him like me more or would piss him off even more than he already was. I didn't know why he didn't like me but I felt like either would be fine so I extended my hand to him.
"And you are? I asked as I had extended my hand.
"Elijah Langston." He replied as he shook my hand. I didn't realize that the Langston's have served with Mordred for this long.
"Well, it's nice to meet you." I said with a smile.
"I heard from Mordred that you know her secret. How did you know?" Elijah asked with that same disdainful tone.
"Uh.." I couldn't think of a good answer and I really didn't want to say the truth with Merlin standing right there.
"They grew up together. Mordred probably just doesn't remember him." Arthur interjected. I felt like I now owed him a lot.
"Okay, I'll accept that, but only because you said so." Elijah said to Arthur.
"Good. Though Sir Elijah, do you know where Mordred is?" Arthur asked.
"She should be in her room resting after the long ride." Elijah answered.
"Could you go fetch her for me? Just tell her that I just need to have a word with her then she can go back to resting." Arthur asked.
"Of course. Though I doubt she'll be happy about it." He said before walking off. As he walked away Merlin did as well. strangely though he walked into the room next to us which had a large bath in it. Instead of stripping or doing anything else that one might normally do in a bathroom, Merlin just jumped into the tub. With a large splash he disappeared completely. I was stunned but to my surprise it was the weirdest thing I’ve seen, and I’ve seen some shit at this point.

“Surprising, huh. Don’t worry, he once tried to convince us that the wash sinks could create wine. Turns out he had just asked the Lady of the Lake to dump wine into it through the water. Him disappearing into water is not that uncommon and it’s simply a way for him to travel to the Lady of the Lake.” Arthur explained.
With that over we continued through the castle until we arrived at a small room with a bed against the back wall and an armor rack in the corner. A small dresser sat against the wall opposite of the bed and candle holders were everywhere. A single window was in the far corner of the room that let enough light in to somewhat illuminate the room.
“This will be your room from now on. I’ll have a maid servant assigned to you at some point soon. Until I call for you again you can rest here. Dinner will be at sundown so please rest.” Arthur said.
“Thank you.” I replied. He nodded and shut the door so that I could be alone I guess. Not knowing what else to do I plopped myself on the bed. Although it wasn’t nearly as nice as the bed’s in 1888 or even the twenty first century, it was still fairly comfortable.
“We need to talk!” I heard someone say from the amulet. I couldn’t really tell if it was Elysif or Mordred but they sounded mad. Holding out the amulet Mordred, Elysif, Iscarat, and Compton all appeared from the amulet.
“What’s up?” I asked as they all appeared. Mordred like myself was on the bed while the others all stood around it.
“I have a few rules for you.” Mordred said with a pissy tone.
“Okay, hit me.” I said which I soon regretted as she punched my arm. I guess either she doesn’t understand sarcasm or she just wanted to hit me.

“First off, don’t do anything strange or even possibly flirtatious to me. Second, don’t do anything that would even remotely make Merlin suspicious of you. Third, I don’t want you to do anything stupid.” Mordred said in a scolding voice that made me think she was a mother giving me a talking to.
“I can understand the last two but what about the first one? Did I do something to you in the past?” I asked.
“... no… you didn’t do anything… it’s nothing.” she said in a super embarrassed tone. Much to everyone's surprise she was turning beet red.
“Anyways, we have another issue.” Iscarat said.

Blood Quest - A LitRPG
Leon's family has been diagnosed with a new type of incurable blood disease. It's an absolute death sentence and when it turns aggressive, you only have a few more years of painful life left to live. His mother has just begun the last years of the disease when a person supposedly comes back from death with supernatural abilities. He talks about a choice you get after death--get an extra chance to come back to life, or die. Even with Leon's diminishing life span, he won't consider the option of going there, until he meets another survivor who had the same goal as him and succeeded. Leon has a choice to make—die now for a chance to save his mother, or die in a few years, where the disease rapidly melts his muscles from his own body. He enters a game-like world, a sort of limbo, where his ultimate goal is to climb the tower of Katastroph before his mother's time runs out. There are a few problems with this though. The tower is almost impossible to beat, if you die you won't revive, and only three people in over twenty years have actually made it back. Leon has two years to climb the tower, with the help of the few people willing to try, while Ai, the tutorial guide, makes things harder for them. ***** The story starts pretty dark but goes onto a lighter tone. Then (more) dark again. Disclaimer: This story is an experimental project and I hope to get any and all feedback you can give me. Warning: First draft. Chapters tend to be between 3400-4100 words long (about 8-11 A4-pages). Mentioning it since I've seen it in other fictions :P Sometimes they're shorter, sometimes they're longer. ******************************** CHAPTER RELEASES UPDATE: As the first "book" in the series is done, I'm going to release coming chapters somewhat sporadically, and when Writathon ends, I'll probably go back to publishing one chapter per weekend. We'll just have to wait and see! I hope you enjoy the story! I really appreciate all comments and feedback, so if you have anything to say, feel free to voice it :) ************ [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

Rise of the First Necromancer
Asrael Nessarat awakes on a sandy dune with a mouthful of sand and nothing but tattered rags in his posession. As the High Magus of the school of Necromancy, he once aspired to prove to the Emperor that magic still held a place in their society. But that day came, passed and inevitably accelerated his kind's downfall. Now; they are hunted, strung up and burned on pyres throughout the Empire by the Emperor's holy Inquisition- an efficient and ruthless army hell-bent on bleeding every last droplet of magic from the lands. With nothing but a mouthful of sand and tattered rags; Asrael is determined to seek the one thing his cold, still heart desires. Vengeance. This story can, at times, get very dark. It is not recommended for the faint of heart. This is not a story of an overtly powerful wizard who can pulverize his enemies from across the world, nor is it in any way, shape or form a joyous tale. We follow Asrael as he and his companions explore and seek to change an unjust world, where kindness and acceptance are exceptions, rather than the rule. If you are looking for a story to inspire hope or joy, this is not it. If you wish to read about likeable, heroic people, turn around. If you wish to see good battle evil, where the cut in between is clear, then this is not for you.

Dhanurana
Out of an unnaturally quiet night, a bedraggled woman in noble finery requests access to the southern capital. Who she is has been lost to time for most, but her continued existence will throw everything further out of balance. The south has barely survived their recent Pyrrhic victory against the north immediately followed by a coup. The north is bloodied but unbowed, on the brink of civil war, but still ready to take up arms against the southern invaders. The leaders of the south cannot afford another obstacle. And Janurana is just that. Yet her chance meeting with a woman expelled from the warrior class named Dhanur gives them both a chance to avenge the ones they loved, finish what they failed to do, and return to a normal life. *** Set in a fantasized bronze age India featuring LGBT female leads. Told in an omniscient pov with glances into multiple characters. This is my first book even if I've been working on it for a while but I hope you can all still find some enjoyment and take a break from everything happening in the world.
