《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 028

I awoke to what sounded like a drum. It wasn't until I opened my eyes and looked around that I realized that someone was knocking on the door. Groggily getting up I wandered over to the door and opened it up. Arthur was standing there looking like he just woke up.
"Is everything okay, Arthur?" I asked.
"Yes, I was just coming to tell you that dinner is almost ready." Arthur said.
"Thank you." Replied with a yawn.
"You should probably leave the coat. It's very dirty." He said with a very tired tone.
"Of course." I replied as I began removing the coat and threw it on the bed. Arthur started to walk away in which I followed.
"I'm guessing you enjoyed your rest?" Arthur asked as we walked.
"Quite. I haven't really slept much over the past few days so I'm still catching up." I said with another yawn.
He gave a slight huff of agreement as we continued down the hall. The smell of the cold dry stone halls filled my nose and gave me a strange feeling. Near the end of the hall where it turned left there was an older woman standing with a young girl. Both of them bowed at the sight of Arthur who stopped and looked at the older woman.
The older woman looked rather pale and covered in wrinkles. Despite this her hands were callous and her skin was hard. She had white hair that was mostly kept under a bonnet like hat. Her clothes were old and stained but in good condition nonetheless. It was a mix of brown and tanned white dress and an apron.
The young girl looked to be about twelve and was dressed in a similar way as the older woman but her brown hair wasn't covered in the same fashion. She had several bruises on her arms and unlike the old ladies her hands were smooth. The clothes she wore were torn and tattered but didn't have a single stain on them.

"My liege, the maid servant you requested for the new knight of the Table has been chosen." The old woman said with a smile.
"Thank you." He said with a bow. Then the woman turned to me.
"You must be the new knight? My name is Shera and this girl here will be your new maid servant." She said to me with a smile.
"Thank you." I said to the old woman before turning to the girl.
"What's your name, little one?" I asked in the kindest way I could think of.
"Medea, Medea Avian." She said with her eyes towards the ground. I was shocked. This sweet looking little girl was that insane bitch! There was no way in hell.
"Well it's nice to meet you, Medea. I'm Micheal." I said as I extended my hand. She seemed a bit nervous and worst of all it seemed like she was scared of me for some reason.
“... Nice to… meet you..” she said with a shy tone as she cautiously shook my hand.
With the greetings out of the way the older woman bowed again before leading young Medea away. I couldn’t help but think that that child was far too afraid for it to be normal. If she was being abused around this time then it may explain why she turned out like she did. I sure hope not. If so then I’ll have to have a word with someone.
“Arthur, who was that child?” I asked.
“Medea, she was part of a witch's Coven called Avian. They were all wiped out by Saxons a year ago. She was the only survivor so we brought her in. The woman you just met is the head maid and she is currently taking care of her.” Arthur explained.
“I see, didn’t she seem a little skittish to you?” I asked.
“Yes, but she’s been like that since we took her in. However, I haven’t been around her that much so I’m not entirely sure how she usually acts anymore.” Arthur answered.

Two Sides
Heroes and monsters are the staples of fantasy. Swords and magic, fairies and dragons, adventures and death; all things went hand in hand in some worlds not our own. Elaine Dawn grew up listening to those stories as a child, imagining, aspiring, yet as she grew she slowly lost her dreams and became detached from what the world could be, slowly becoming one with the world that was. Yet one night she found herself in a dream that became reality, and oh there they were; heroes and monsters, swords of steel, magic of tales, fairies and dragons of old, and adventures that held riches and death both. She had no fantastic magic, no supernatural strength. All she had was herself, her coin, and her life. But that was enough. As she stared into the distance, to the mountain-sized horrors of the night, she smiled and tossed her coin once again.

Reasons to Stay
Immortality has a cost, it differs from person to person. Some regret seeing their loved ones die, some regret they themselves cannot die, some regret the boredom and some regret nothing. This man regrets not having a choice, so after millions of years of getting shot, beheaded, beaten, stabbed and stoned he escaped from the world by hiding in a bunker with his books. He had studied all forms of science, he had lived history and created art, he was content with being alone with his mind until one day a man with a monocle appears, and he learns the truth. Hi! This is my second novel and I just had this idea when I was trying to sleep and my mind was making me re-live all those goddamn nightmares you don't want when it's 1 am and dark as shit, so I thought of happy things like the fantasy genre and my inevitable death and i'm like why not?

Chronicles of Rathia - The Era of Blood
Welcome to the Chronicles of Rathia. Contained within is a trilogy of stories which are all set in different time periods and with different characters. Each story has its own era from The Era of Blood, The Era of Magic and The Era of Demons. Read along the first in the series which is The Era of Blood where magic is still in an infant stage and where swords can dominate the battle field. In The Era of Blood, you follow along the first main character who had his memories wiped clean except for the most basic things in life. It is up to him to find out how to get his memories back and why they are gone. (If you don't like the story layout or characters, I suggest either just reading through or wait till the next one in the series is being released. With how it's set up, you can enjoy any of the three in the trilogy but of course reading in order will help give a better understanding of the world.) (Side authors note - I'm currently reworking the first several chapters as they are lacklustre to myself since they were originally a draft and not concrete at first. This note will stay here until all the chapters I wanted to fix up are done.)
