《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 031

The next morning I awoke again to the sound of someone knocking at my door. I slowly got up and walked over to the door and opened it to see Medea standing there. She seemed shocked and flustered by the fact that I was only in my boxers but she remained calm and walked inside.

“I brought you some clothes.” she said as she held out a pair of pants and a loose shirt. It seemed like that was the common style of clothing so I wasn’t going to complain.

“Thank you.” I replied as I took the clothes and began putting them on. They felt itchy in some places but were soft for the most part. Now the only things that I wore from the future were my boots, coat, and knife and it was starting to make me feel sentimental. At this point I was starting to wonder if I was ever meant to be in the twenty first century. The nineteenth century just felt so much like home at this point that I would rather just stay there. However, I was also starting to get used to this time period.

“Is there anything else you need help with?” Medea asked with a slightly embarrassed tone.

“Actually yes. Do you know where I would need to go to do some swordsmanship training? I was told I would be given a sword so I figured I would learn how to use one.” I asked.

“Yes, I can show you where the training ground is whenever you would like.” she said with a tinge of joy in her voice from being asked for help.

“Also, have you eaten yet?”

“Yes, though breakfast for the knights will be ready soon.” she answered.

“Thank you. Is there anything that you need help with?” I asked as I threw on my coat.

“I would never ask you for help, Sir. My job is to serve, not to be served.” She replied adamantly.

“It’s okay to ask for help when you need it.” I said with a smile.

“Okay, well you need to start heading to breakfast before the other knights eat everything.” Medea said, basically pushing me out the door.

“Alright, alright.” I said as I went out the door almost against my will.

After breakfast Medea quickly found me and led me to the training yard where a few other knights were already starting to arrive. She ended up leading me to a small hut filled with wooden practice weapons and simple leather curaisses. Putting on one of the leather curaisses that fit me and grabbing a simple two handed sword I walked out to where two of the knights were already having a practice bout. Standing around them was Mordred , Gwaine, and someone who I had yet to meet. They looked pretty angry though so I avoided him and walked over to Mordred.

“Who’s fighting?” I asked as I walked up.

“SIr Kay is currently fighting with Sir Aglovale over who gets to ask the stable master's daughter to marry them first.” Mordred said as one of them swung a hard downward swing at the other. As he did the other turned his blade to block it. The swing however, broke the hand guard and caused him to jump back out of fear of the wooden blade.

Even with the hand guard broken he jumped forward and attempted a jab only for it to be deflected. Despite it being deflected he continued to charge forward and rammed himself into the other knight. They both toppled to the ground with a wooden practice sword at both of their thoughts.

“Alright, it’s a tie. Try to settle this later.” Gwaine said with a chuckle.

Both of the knights laughed as they got up and began to hobble to the side where they sat and watched as the next bout was beginning. SIr Gwaine was fighting with the angry man that was waiting by the side. As they walked up to each other I could tell that the angrier looking man was bloodshot in the eyes. The only thing that came to mind when I saw him was that he was a menacing terror of a man.

“Who is that?” I asked Mordred.

“Sir Lancelot. He is Queen Guinevere's brother and is commonly prone to anger. The only reason he’s out here today is because he was forced away from the front lines for being a threat to the safety of his soldiers. Blowing off some steam in a bout will most likely calm him down… I hope.” Mordred said.

“Alright, that explains why he looks like he would kill someone for looking at him the wrong way.” I replied.

“He has… sadly.” she said with a bit of annoyance in her voice. However, it sounded like she was a little bit afraid of him.

“That’s not what I would expect from a knight.”

“It’s not. The only reason he is a knight of the Round Table at all is because his sister said so.” she replied as the two knights clashed. Gwaine stood in a defensive stance as Lancelot charged him. Lancelot’s practice sword came at Gwaine from his left side, which Gwaine blocked by placing his sword completely against the side of his body. The force of the swing sent Gwaine sliding a bit to the right before Lancelot received a swift kick to his left leg.

Lancelot buckled down on his knee as Gwaine attempted to strike him from above. Diving to the side Lancelot avoided the blow and quickly got back on his feet. Enraged, Lancelot charged at Gwaine again. This time Gwaine charged as well but he held his practice sword in his left hand. Lancelot brought his sword down against Gwaine only for it to be blocked by his sword. As it was blocked Gwaine punched him as hard as he could in the temple with his right hand. The right hook sent Lancelot stumbling back before falling over in a daze.
