《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 032

“Would you like to practice?” Mordred asked me as Gwaine innocently dragged the unconscious body of Lancelot away from the training field and rolled him into a small ditch.

“Yes, however, I have never used a sword before. I have always used my knife so I never really learned.” I replied with a tinge of concern in my voice for what Gwaine was doing but refusing to acknowledge it.

“Don’t worry. I can help you with that. You held your own against a bunch of hellhounds and bonerippers the other day so I think you’ll be fine.” she said as we walked out to the center of the training field.

“Bonerippers? Is that what those things were?” I asked a little confused by the name.

“The giant creatures you fought the other day. They are a type of Fey that commonly like to summon hellhounds and attack sheep farmers and sheep.” She explained before getting into a battle stance.

I mimicked her stance to a degree and held my sword out. Without much warning she shot at me and swung her sword at me from the side. I blocked it barely before she pulled the practice sword back and swung at my other side. I blocked it as well before she pulled back again. Rather than a swing this time she jabed her sword forward and stabbed me in the stomach. The force of it jabbing at my kidney sent be back on my ass.

“You really don’t know how to use a sword. You understand what you're supposed to do but you don’t really have the knowledge or muscle memory to use it.” Mordred said with a somewhat judgy tone.

“Ya, that’s what I said before.” I said as I sat up with a groan.

“Well then, I guess we need to go to the basics.” she replied as she extended her hand.

Taking it she helped me up and we continued as we were. Over the next few hours I got my ass kicked over and over by the worst teacher in all of history. She would continually skip things necessary to understand something else only to come back to what she forgot at a later time after I struggled with the actions earlier. However, I was getting better despite this.

I was able to easily block her attacks over time until I was capable of parrying. However, as soon as I began to pick up on it she would get faster. By the time we were done I would have been bruised if it weren’t for the fact that my bruises were healing as they were being made. The constant repetition of me getting beaten with a stick over the course of a few hours eventually got old and both of us were getting a little tired so we stopped for the day. Having trained for a bit I received some bread for lunch and went to my room with Medea. Though, it wasn’t my goal to just hang out in my room the rest of the day.

“Medea, do you know where I can find the head maid?” I asked as we went to my room.

“She should be cleaning in the main hall around this time.” she said.

“Okay, why don’t you go to my room ahead of me. I have to do something real quick.” I said before turning down the hall and heading towards the main hall. Though I had no clue where that was exactly. Hopefully I could find my way there.

“Are you really going to threaten the head maid?” I could hear Elysif asking from the pendant.

“Depends.”

“On what?” she asked with an intrigued tone in her voice.

“Whether or not she will leave Medea alone or not.” I replied.

“It feels weird that you have become protective of my mother.”

“I am being protective of a child that is being abused. It wouldn’t matter to me whether she was your mother or not.” I replied.

“Okay, do you need any help being threatening?”

“I should be fine. How’s Mordred doing though?” I asked.

“She’s a bit depressed since she can’t walk but as soon as Iscarat figures out a way to connect this place to his home then I can properly take a look at it. Right now all I’ve been able to do is make sure the wound isn’t infected.” she explained with a sigh.

“Do you think that Iscarat will actually be able to connect his home to the pendant despite the time gap?” I asked with a bit of concern.

“No but it’s keeping him quiet and out of everyones hair for now so I'm not going to stop him. Compton seems bored as can be though so he’s been reading in the library.” she said.

“There’s a library? Just how big is it in there?” I asked with genuine surprise.

“There’s six rooms and a bathroom.” she said.

“You know what? I’m not even going to ask. I’ll just leave it in the catagory of fuck it, it’s magic. There’s probably an explanation but I don’t want it.” I said before entering the main hall.
