《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 042

I ran for what felt like hours before finally finishing the last lap. Sometime mid run I had dropped my coat due to it getting far too hot to keep on. Thankfully, Medea was kind enough to grab it for me.when I was done and covered in sweat Mordred walked over to me and threw me two practice weapons. One was a wooden dagger and the other was a wooden longsword.

“I saw that you mainly used a knife so I decided you should practice with both. Use one as the main weapon and if you drop it then switch to the other.” Mordred said before walking over to the middle of the training field.

“Alright.” I replied with a little annoyance as I drudged over to where she was.

I readied myself with the longsword and tucked the wooden dagger into my pants. Once I had done so Mordred charged at me. I hastily blocked her downward strike and dodged her second strike to my side by jumping away. Without any warning she swung at me again. My tired limbs couldn’t take it and I was unable to block. Instead I fell to the ground and threw the practice knife at her. She blocked it and went for another strike. Forgetting that this blade wouldn’t return to me like my knife I tried to draw it back to me only to get hit on the head with Mordred’s practice sword.

“What happened? You were doing fairly well then you just stopped and held out your hand. What were you doing?” she asked as I rubbed my head.

“My knife usually comes to me when I call it. I had forgotten that most knives can’t do that.” I replied as I slowly got up and grabbed the practice knife.

"Oh, well, I guess we should try again." She said as she tried to decide whether I was crazy or if I was telling the truth. It didn't matter though.

I stood back up and grabbed the training dagger before getting back into a ready position. As soon as I did she charged at me once again. This time she started with a strike to my side. Blocking it she attempted a strike to my other side. I blocked it as well and went to go attack her only for it to be deflected. As my sword was knocked upward I received a swift kick to the stomach.

With the wind nearly knocked out of me, all I could do was attempt to bring my practice sword down on her. Mordred raised her sword back up and held my sword above herself. She tried to kick me again but I had already drawn my practice knife. Whilst letting go of my practice sword I lunged forward in a tackle. My practice knife against her throat.

She looked absolutely stunned but then she started laughing so hard that I thought that she may be going mad. However, as soon as I got off of her and helped her up she got into a ready position like before. This time she had a devilish smile that made me feel like I should run.

"You can attack first this time. You've earned it. That said, I will not be going easy on you any more." She said with the same smile.

"You were going easy on me?... I'm going to die now aren't I?" I asked rhetorically with a defeated look on my face.

"Yep, and if you don't want to spend all afternoon out here then I suggest you get ready." She said with an evil smile.

"Just give me a second-" I started to say before she charged at me again.

As she struck her blade at my chest, strings of blood appeared and cut the practice sword into several hundred pieces. Mordred stood in shock as I whipped my practice sword around and tapped her on the head. She barely flinched at it hitting her before she jumped backwards in a fleet of fear. Drawing her real sword she gave me a determined and angry look.

“You are no fortune teller nor a monster hunter. What are you really?” she demanded.

“Why do you figure that?” I asked in hopes that her answering me would allow me to think of something to say without telling her the truth. I really didn’t want too many people to know that I’m from the future so I don’t even want to explain to her why I have a future version of herself inside my necklace. Maybe I can come up with something good… Nope, I got nothing.

“Because, no person could use magic instantaneously like that. Not without runes or a price. Are you an Elder god?” she asked with her sword still at the ready.

“I’m not an Elder god or anything like that. I just have a rare magic due to a curse.” I said as it was all I could come up with. I don’t even know if that would work with magic.

“I see. Then I apologise for assuming. I guess most people would want to keep something like that under wraps. Sir Galahad has a similar curse. He can use insane amounts of strength and speed because of his curse. He has to stay chaste or else he will die though.” She responded apologetically. I feel really bad for Galahad. That said, I am also a virgin so I understand his pain to a degree.
