"So I now know why Iscarat didn't help me, but what about the rest of you? Mordred is exempt from this." I asked with a little bit of exhaustive anger.

"It has been less than an hour in our time. We thought you would be fine for a bit." Elysif said with a tinge of guilt.

"Did you two not see the two Elder Ones trying to kill me for sport?" I asked.

"We did after you stopped and were given food. It's not our fault none of us were watching when you met them." Compton said.

"Well, I'm gonna need some help tomorrow. The forest is alive and trying to kill me." I stated.

"I do have to say something about that. I have to go to Iscarat's and get everything ready for Mordred so that I can finally take a look at her wound with some proper tools and medicine. You'll have to rely on Compton to help you tomorrow." Elysif said.

"Yeah, I got a new weapon from Iscarat's so I'll be able to help you." Compton said with a smile.

"Thanks. Though I really want to sleep. On the other hand, I really want to finish this beer." I said as I sipped the contents from the bottle. The others had never seen beer like that so they too opened up one of the ones they were given and tried it. Much to everyone's surprise they all agreed it was the best beer they had ever had. Even though it was cheap, it was still better than what they had in 1888.

I slept through the night without any problems. However, as soon as dawn peaked over the forest's edge I was awoken by the blaring of the horn from yesterday. As soon as the horn was blown, the bed that I was laying on morphed and launched me several meters away before the tree began to come at me.

Grabbing the practice sword from my side I charged the sentiant tree and began whacking it. Starting with the branches that swatted at me and the roots that kept trying to entrap my feet. Eventually striking the trunk and forcing it to stay like a real tree. I could barely catch my breath as I had just awoken and I was nearly killed.

“Compton?” I called.

“Yes, I’m here. Me and Iscarat will help you out as best we can to escape these things till nightfall.” Compton replied.

“Thanks.” I said as I began jogging off.

As I began jogging through the forest I could hear the resonating sound of deer hooves galloping through the forest. It only added to my fears as I desperately ran. The effects of the forest made me nervous and scared with no way to quell my emotions. All I could do was run, run and fight.

After an hour or so of running I found myself beside a large stream. The water looked so good that I couldn’t help but go over and began to take cupped handfuls of it to drink. Though as I was knelt down to drink I noticed a strange dark figure in the water. That said, it had no realistic form. It was just darkness in the stream. Part of me just assumed it was the shadows from the trees but I could tell it wasn’t natural. The feeling it gave off was just too much like the fae.

I backed away slowly to avoid whatever it was but as soon as I stood up a horse made of pure darkness shot out of the water in a fury. I screamed in pain as ther dark horse bit into my leg. It’s jaw was crammed around my ankle as it tried to drag me into the stream. It was only a hands length deep yet this horse was attempting to drag me into it.

From the corner of my eye I saw a shortsword with silver lined rope attached to the pommel shoot into the ground beside the horse. The robe then fell on top of the dark horse, causing it to yelp in pain and let go of my leg. I scrambled to get away as the dark horse returned to the stream to avoid continuing to touch the rope.

“You okay?” I heard Compton ask from the pendant.

“Yeah, what was that thing?” I asked as I watched the shortsword be dragged back up into the air and through a small portal.

“A Kelpie. It’s a kind of Fae that is known to drown careless swimmers as either a horse or a human figure. You should just assume that all bodies of water in this forest have them.” Compton said.

“Good to know.” I replied as I continued walking. Albeit with a small limp, but I was sure it would heal up soon enough.
