《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 048

Running and more running was all that occupied my time. As I did I noticed my hair began to become considerably longer. It had to have grown at least a few centimeters in the past day. Though it wasn’t exactly the most important thing for me to worry about at the moment so I paid it no mind. I just kept running.
It became much more apparent to me that the forest was endless. I've been running in the same direction since yesterday and I still couldn’t find the forest’s edge. Even though I knew I wouldn’t find it. I was still hoping I would. I don’t believe I’ve said this before but magic can suck my ass! It confuses me and the only bit I do understand isn’t the most helpful when I need it. This whole enchanted forest thing is really getting on my nerves.
Hours passed by and I was getting extremely tired. Despite having Compton and Iscarat to help me it was tiring. Yeah, I had a lesser chance of dying but it didn’t mean that I wasn’t fighting for my life. The sound of Oberon and Titania’s deer hooves echoed any time that I felt like I could take a break. It was almost as if when I felt at ease, Titania was making me think that they were close. Probably to throw me off or make me go insane.
The hours passed by quickly as nothing made time pass faster than the constant fear of death. Eventually I stopped to breathe as the horn blew a second time that day. Again, I was brought food and drink, along with a bed being formed flom the forest floor. Compton and Iscarat both joined for dinner and not much later, we were joined by Elysif. She looked just as if not more tired than myself.

“How did it go?” I asked Elysif as I ate.
“Mordred’s spine has far too much damage. She may never walk again.” Elysif said solemnly.
“How did she take the news? That must be really disheartening to learn.” Compton said with a concerned tone.
“She… told me that it was her penance. That she had allowed so much to happen without her interference or care and it’s only fair.” Elysif said with a worried look.
“Does she really think she’s suffering because she messed up? She was tricked and betrayed like the rest of us. It’s Merlin’s fault for using her and ultimately stabbing her in the back, literally.” Compton said with a bit of anger.
“Ooh, drama.” Iscarat said to himself as he took a bite of a strange looking pastry. I ignored him.
“She blames herself, yes. I agree that it isn’t her fault but us telling her that will not change her mind. She’ll have to figure that out herself. All we can do is support her as she does.” Elysif said.
“If she blames herself, then let her. She may not be the one to blame but she’ll need to blame someone for this and blaming herself is easier than someone else. Eventually she’ll figure it out and move on but for now we just have to try our best and support her.” I added.
“Fine.” Compton said with a worried expression.
Like before, we ate and drank before sleeping. Even though I wasn’t used to it yet the horn woke me on the first blare. Before my bed could even attack me I had already jumped up and lunged for it. It morphed as the tree from the past morning did. As it morphed I struck it with the practice sword.

“Compton, Elysif, are you there?” I asked. A few minutes passed before I heard them.
“Yeah, we heard the horn. Do you have any clue where Oberon and Titania are going to be coming from?” Compton asked. I listened for the sound of hoofbeats but couldn’t hear anything.
“No, they could be anywhere.” I replied.
“Then we should turn the tables. You were sent here to train in combat yet you have only been running and defending yourself from lower class fae.” Compton said.
“Those were lower class? What are the upper class like?” I asked with a worried tone.(authors note: I would put “worried expression” but Lou can’t have a worried expression as his mask only shows the default expression and ghoulish terror. May possibly change in the next draft.)
“It’s like the one you fought in Haringey.” Elysif stated.
“Oh, well shit.” I said.
“Anyways, we could trap Oberon and Titania.” Compton said.
“Bad idea, let’s just keep running. Sounds much safer than fighting two Elder Ones.” I said in what probably sounded like I was desperate and sassy before running very quickly in a random direction.
“We can easily trap them. I’ve dealt with Fae many times.” Compton said with a convincing tone.
“Fine, tell me your plan but I’m not gonna stop running until whatever plan you have starts sounding even remotely possible.” I said as I continued giving myself the most muscular calves known to man.
