《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 052

Following the Fae through the forest wasn’t easy and I really just wanted to go to sleep but I did want to get out of here as fast as I could so I kept on. The thicket she led me through wasn’t on any path and the brush didn’t move out of my way like it had before. After a good ten or so minutes of walking I was led to a great opening. Fields of grass stretched out for as far as I could see. The only sign of life in the field was Mordred who was just sitting there.

“You brought me out of the forest?” I asked the Fae.

“Yes.” she said from behind me.

I quickly walked over to Mordred who stood up to face me. Though, something was off. She seemed almost emotionless and devoid of humanity. It was almost like she wasn’t actually there. Suddenly, I felt a spear stab into the right side of my lower back. Looking back I saw the Fae girl was now around a hundred and twenty centimeters tall and stabbing me with a spear. I turned with the spear still inside me with such force that it ripped the spear from her hands and I tackled her to the ground.

“What the hell! You said that you couldn’t hunt until the morning horn was blown.” I said angrily as I held her down.

“Oberon has promised any of us that can defeat you a great reward. I figured you would trust me and I could just lie and say that I attacked you the moment you woke up.” she said in a similar tone to my own.

“Well, I’m betting Oberon would love to hear about how you broke the rules.” I said as the spear began to slowly be pushed from my back.

“I don’t think so.” the Fae girl said as a Giant hand slammed into me from the side.

The force of the hand sent me flying into the field. I refused to let go of the Fae girl who looked like she was regretting fighting me as she too was sent flying. Looking at where the hand came from I noticed that the plains began to disappear and were replaced by the trees of the forest. However, there was one major difference. A giant seven meter tall green creature with eight long boney arms and legs. Its body was hunched over and from its forehead was a long line that reminded me of an anglerfish. At the end of it was Mordred’s body which disappeared like the fields did and turned into a glowing orb. The worst part of this creature was it’s head that was at least a meter wide and had a large creepy smile filled with rows of sharp teeth.

“What the hell did Oberon have to fuck to make that thing?” I yelled as I got up. Grabbing the Fae Girl in my arms I ran as fast as I could through the woods. The creature chased after me like a coiling centipede as it wound between trees and brush.

“You’ll never escape the arachne.” the Fae girl said pridefully.

“You do know why I am still holding onto you, right? If that thing eats me then you’ll be going with me.” I said. Her face quickly changed to that of raw fear and terror.

“You wouldn’t let a little girl like myself get eaten, would you?” she asked with the fear still written on her face.

“You just stabbed me and tried to feed me to a monster. What do you think?” I said as I quickly dodged one of the creature's hands. It was then that she realized how much I was willing to do.

“Let me go!” she pleaded as she slammed her fist against me and tried to push herself out of my grip.

“Not a chance, unless you want me to toss you in the creature's mouth.” I said with a devilish smile. Although, she probably couldn’t see it through the mask.

Having realized that there were no other options for her she stopped fighting me. I ran and ran as the roaring of the nightmarish creature echoed behind me. No matter how far I had ran the creature seemed to be right behind me. It’s long slender body contorted around anything that got in its way. The only exception was its head which had to bite through anything that it couldn’t fit between. The effect of it biting through a tree without stopping gave me an even more horrifying thought as to what would happen if the creature caught me.

“Can’t you run any faster?” The Fae Girl asked in a panic as she watched the creature slowly catch up to us.

“I wish I could but someone shot me in the leg earlier and it still feels a bit numb.” I snapped while silently cursing Oberon, Titania, and even Mordred for all of this.
