《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 072

Once we had packed up Mordred’s stuff we rode off towards Camelot. The sun was blindingly bright but thank god we were heading southwest so we barely had to deal with the bright fucker. The road back to Camelot was tiring so as soon as we arrived I headed off to my room and laid in my bed. Before I could fall asleep though I heard a knock at the door. Lily decided that it would be best to hide so she shrunk down into her fairy form and hid in my coat pocket.

“Come in!” I yelled into the hay stuffed pillow. After I said it Medea walked in.

“I heard you were back and wanted to know if you needed anything?” she asked a little more hesitant than she was before I left. I turned to look at her and saw that she had a large purple bruise on her arm that she was trying to keep covered with her sleeve. Rolling over, I sat up on the edge of the bed to face her.

“Actually, could I see your arm?” I asked while mentally cursing the head maid in my head.

“... My arm?” she asked as if not wanting to.

“Yes, if you don’t want to then that’s fine but if you were hurt could you at least tell me.” I said.

“Okay. she said as she pulled her sleeve up without me even having to tell her which arm. Of course the bruise was far worse than what I could see before. In the center of the bruise was a long line of burnt skin with a small puss bubble on it.

“Who did this to you?” I asked with obvious concern in my voice.

“The head maid. She said I have no right to even be in the castle and hit me with the poker that was sitting next to the oven's fire.” she explained. That bitch. I’ll kill her. How dare anyone hurt a child like this.

“Alright, for now I’ll take care of that burn. Then I’ll deal with the head maid.” I said. Before I could even do or say anything else, one of Elysif’s diluted healing potions appeared out of the pendent and onto my lap. Thus, I poured the contents onto the burn and the bruising around it. Like it was supposed to it bubbled up and then slowly healed as if there was never a burn to begin with.

“Thank you. Though, what would you like me to do now?” she asked.

“For now let’s have you practice your writing.” I said as I walked over to the desk area where I had the three books laid out along with some paper and ink. Picking up a quill I dipped it in the ink and did my best to make a lowercase and uppercase version of all of the letters in the alphabet. “Just copy each of these letters ten times each.”

“Okay.” she replied before taking the quill from me and slowly writing out the first letter. With her now occupied I left the room and started off towards the throne room. I wasn’t sure if the head maid was there or if Arthur was there but if one of them was in that area then I would be happy.

Walking down the halls to the throne room I happened by one of the maids whom I asked about the whereabouts of the head maid as well as the whereabouts of Arthur. Surely enough she told me that Arthur was in the throne room. However, the head maid was in the kitchen. Thus, I asked her to send the head maid to the throne room as soon as she was able and continued on.

“What are you planning to do?” Lily asked as she flew up from my coat pocket and perched herself on my shoulder.

“I plan on making the head maid suffer for not heeding my warnings.” I replied.

“I’m guessing you’re protective of that child?” she asked.

“In a way. I guess you could say that I’m protective of children in general.”

“Then why aren’t you protective of me?” she asked with a bit of dramatized concern.

“Because you aren’t a child and you are a Fae who can more or less handle herself.” I replied.

“That’s a fair point.” she said as we entered the throne room. Just as the maid had said Arthur was sitting on the throne looking bored out of his mind as a man was reading off a list of possible strongholds with potential candidates for the Round Table. As soon as I entered Arthur waved the man off and told him to discuss it further with Merlin. As soon as the man left he turned to me.

“Thank God you arrived when you did. That man could put a deranged animal to sleep with his voice. Anyways, what can I do for you?” Arthur said with a smile.

“I was actually hoping you would do me a favor.” I replied.

“What kind of favor?” he asked cautiously.

“The Head maid has repeatedly beaten my servant. Even after I told her that if she did it again then there would be consequences. Since you are the authority around here I would ask that you punish her.” I said. He rubbed his chin for a moment before getting up from the throne and walking towards me.

“I must hear her side of the story first as the law requires and I must be unbiased in my decision. That said, you are my daughters aid while her legs are being healed-” he started saying.

“Actually, I got on Oberon’s good side I guess and now her legs are completely healed.” I interrupted.

“Oh... I see. Well, what I was going to say was that if you bought her as your own personal servant then any harm brought to her would be considered destruction of property and it would be within the law. However, if her reasoning is considered just by my court then there is nothing I can do.” he said.
