《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》Round Table - Part 080

Leading her down the hall she guided me to her room where I laid her down in her bed. She told me thanks and I left as quickly as I could because I just couldn’t handle any of this at the moment. I was gone for maybe twenty minutes at most and somehow all of this happened. Though when I turned out of her room and headed back to my own I really wished I had stayed as Arthur was knocking on my door.

“Did you need something, Arthur?” I asked despite knowing exactly why he was there.

“Yes, you did see your Mordred, correct?” he said.

“I did and yes, she told me what happened.” I said with a heavy sigh.

“She set fire to the throne room.” he said.

“She didn’t mention that! Though that would explain why her clothes were burned in several areas.” I said with a surprised tone.

“Yes, though I was able to convince the knights that saw her that it was a changeling with a magic weapon or something of the sort. They believe that it was a spy from the Danes or perhaps the Saxons. Either way, the whole thing is under wraps but now I have to make a move before said imaginary spy gets to their employers. After your knighthood we will ride out to Parditch and help support them there. It was something I needed to do anyways, but now I have given my knights a good reason.” he said.

“What about Shera’s trial?” I asked.

“You’ll have to settle with her just being kicked out of the castle.” he said with a bit of a sorry smile.

“Alright then. I guess I’ll see you tomorrow for the bout. Though I’m worried about Mordred. She may have hit her head a bit too hard.” I said. He sighed and looked around.

“I’m considering leaving her here for this one. I don’t want to risk the same situation that happened today out there.” Arthur said.

“That sounds wise. Plus, she can recover from what happened today.” I replied.

“I agree.” he said before walking down the hall with a wave goodbye. Going inside I realized that Medea was still asleep on my bed so I grabbed my coat and just slept on the floor with my coat as a blanket.

The next morning I was awoken by Medea who was frantically trying to shake me awake. Outside the window I could hear the sound of trumpets being blown and people gathering. Perhaps it was some kind of festival? Oh, right. I was fighting Arthur and Merlin today… Fuck.

“Master, you need to wake up or else you’ll be late.” Medea said frantically.

“Calm down. I’ll get there in time so don’t worry.” I said groggily as I sat up.

“I have to apologize. Because of me you slept on the floor and now your back probably hurts.” she said apologetically.

“Don’t worry about it. I’m fine. However, there is one problem.” I said.

“What is it?” she asked with a worried look.

“I have no idea where I’m supposed to go to fight Arthur.” I said. She slapped her hand into her face as if I just said something stupid before grabbing my hand.

“Come with me.” she said as she forcefully dragged me up. Though it was more she was forcing me up but wasn’t strong enough to actually do it. It was kind of adorable. Though, I listened and let her drag me around. Throwing on my coat she led me outside the castle.

All around me was a mix of small carts selling all different kinds of food. The townspeople wanted any reason to throw a festival so they used my knighting as an excuse. It was far more lively than it was a few days ago and I loved it. Or at least I would have if I didn’t wake up five minutes ago. Street vendors gave me free food as Medealed me to the makeshift arena. Most of which I stored in the pendent or gave to Medea though.

Once we were down the street I noticed that Arthur along with several other knights were sitting in some chairs raised up on a small stand. Merlin was sitting next to the right of Arthur and sitting to the left of Arthur was who I assumed was his wife. However, there was another woman there but she was talking with the other woman as if they were old friends who were catching up.

Below the stand was a large arena surrounded by a wood fence and filled with several large stones as well as a few fences for what I assumed were obstacles. People were gathered around the arena in droves. Some were dressed in nicer clothes for the occasion while others wore the same dirty clothes that they would normally wear.

“You need to go up to the King and accept your sword. I’ll be watching from the side.” Medea said as if she was a guide or a parent that was about to watch their child at a sports event. Which felt weird since she was in her early teens.
