《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 002

Even though I really didn’t want to listen to that man, I did as I was requested and ran across the balcony hitting any golem I came across with my sword. Just as Merlin said with even the slightest touch they hardened up like stone and fell down the wall where they smashed into several pieces. After less than thirty minutes the fighting stopped and all of the golems had been destroyed. Several of the men went out of the fort to pick up the golems' clothes as trophies while the rest of us sat down to rest.

“You do well with proper direction.” erlin said to me as he sat down beside me.

“You could have just created a small army of your own. That would have done just as well.” I said as I caught my breath.

“Yes, but then I wouldn’t have gotten to see my wife’s workmanship used as it should be.” he replied as he held out a waterskin filled with wine to me. Nothing was more repulsive to me than to share a drink with this man but I obliged him as I was thirsty and wine sounded good.

“You love your wife, don’t you?” I asked to instigate some conversation.

“I do, and if anyone said anything different than I would probably castrate them publicly.” he said with a half joking smile. I couldn’t help but be a little scared of him but I tried to not let it show.

“Anyways, no one has explained how this sword works to me yet other than what you told me in the middle of that battle. What does it do?” I asked.

“Well, as you probably already know, it can create armor to protect you that also can absorb magic. The more magic you absorb the stronger your defense gets. As for the sword itself, it can absorb magic upon touching something magical. Though, it can also release it at will. If you want to release the power stored inside then it will do so as you will it. The release can be in varying forms though as it wasn’t fully tested. You can figure that part out though.” Merlin explained.

“Alright, thanks. One other thing.” I said.

“What?”

“Does it have a name?” I asked.

“Of course not. That’s up to the swordsman to decide. If my wife named it then where would the connection be? Where would the ownership be? Also my wife can’t name shit. The last sword she named was called Bod Mór.” Merlin said.

“Yeah, I was just told that I needed to name it and I can’t think of anything.” I said.

“Don’t worry. It’ll come to you eventually.” he said before getting up and walking away.

Since I was still rather tired I just laid back and hoped that I could fall asleep. The uncomfortable position I was in mixed with the fact that it was getting cold made it difficult but the warm wine I just drank helped ease me to sleep. Not too much later I was awoken by Medea who looked just as tired as I was.

“Medea, what’s wrong?” I asked as I looked up at her.

“You’re being summoned by the King. He wishes to see you immediately .” she said in a rushed tone.

“Okay, I’ll be there. You should probably get some rest though. You look a bit tired.” I said as I began walking towards the center of the fort. Now that we weren’t fighting and it wasn’t dark out I noticed that the fort was a large rectangular wooden structure about a hundred meters wide and seventy meters in length. The walls surrounding it were all topped with balconies and the inner building was filled with beds, a war room, and a storehouse. There was also an underground tunnel that led down to the beach below the cliff. It was an old style of fort that reminded me of a bandits hideout in a medieval roleplaying game.

Walking to the building in the center of the fort I entered through a side door and into the war room. Arthur, Merlin, Gwaine, and a few other knights were there standing around a table with a small hastily hand drawn map on it. The map comprised of a poorly drawn model of the fort and another poorly drawn map of the enemy encampment.

“About time you showed up.” Gwaine said in a somewhat joking tone.

“What exactly do you need me for?” I asked with a bit of confusion. The others looked at me with a bit of withheld distress which didn’t make me feel good about what they might ask of me.

“As you know the enemy uses golems’. The problem is that they have been repeating this for nearly a week now. They send golems to attack the fort at random times and ultimetely tire out our men. We expect that they are just stalling for time while a larger army of reinforcements is on its way.” one of the knights I didn’t recognise explained.

He was dressed in the common leather and chainmail armor combination that many of the other knights had. Though his shoulders had metal covers on them. He stood a half headslength below me but looked significantly stronger than I was. On his face was a long tangled beard that was sort of tangled with the longer strands of hair coming down the front of his shoulders. The rest of his hair was braided behind him and had a small strip of leather holding it together.

“Sir Micheal, this is Sir Aglovale. He is one of the knights of the Round Table who has been guarding this place for a while.” Arthur said in order to give me some kind of introduction.

“I see. It’s good to meet you but I’m still unsure of what I’m being called here for.” I replied.
