《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 010

Once inside the fort Arthur began barking orders for men to help on the north and south sides of the fort. I ended up getting sent to the north side so I dismounted and had Medea take the horse and get somewhere safe within the fort. Just to be safe I had Lily leave the pendant and go with her. With both of them out of the way and safe I ran off with many of the other knights to the north side of the fort.

Just as I arrived I witnessed the giant of a man Galehaut being launched off of the fort walls balcony and into one of the buildings closest to the wall. Many of the knights stopped and stared in shock, unable to comprehend how it was possible. Though as they did we saw what caused it. Another man with an equally large body as Galehaut climbed over the wall wielding a brown glowing shield and a large club. The knights left on the balcony turned and began trying to stab him with their spears and swords.

The large warrior simply laughed as he blocked each of their attacks with his shield as if they were mere pebbles. Then with one swift motion struck all of the knights down with a single swing of his club. As if to taunt us he laughed maniacally while beating his shield with his club. Each time he did the shield vibrated as if it was absorbing the shock of each of his strikes.

The knights below roared with a loud battlecry before each of them climbed up the ladders up to the balcony. One by one they climbed up and one by one their bodies were launched like ragdolls by the strength of his club. Not knowing what else to do I focused and manifested the black and blue mist around my body. Everything around me slowed in turn. The sound of bones being shattered with every club strike echoed through the air along with the slowed down yells of warriors and knights alike.

Running with all my might I climbed up one of the ladders and avoided his club. The giant man looked confused as he stared at me surrounded by a blue-ish black fog. Even though he was confused he didn’t hesitate to attack me. Blocking his club with my sword I pressed my body against it. The force of his club hitting the blade of my sword caused it to be cut in half. The wide tip of the club flung through the air and out into the crowd of warriors below. Two of which were crushed by its sheer weight. Before I could move any farther I was struck in the facde by his shield.

Despite my speed I wasn’t expecting him to follow up his attack by bashing me in the face with his shield. The force of it was unlike any attack I had taken before. My body, like Galehaut, was launched across the balcony and into one of the unlit oil lamps, knocking it over. With me far away the giant man returned to fighting the knights while many of the warriors outside of the fort climbed their way up. None of them stood a chance as all of them upon getting bashed with his shield were either launched into one of the fort's buildings or their bodies were blown up on impact.

Getting up I noticed that the giant only ever hit anyone with his shield after he had blocked something with it. It was as if the shield was absorbing the attacks and sending them back out. Before I could go in to attack the giant warrior again Galehaut jumped from the building he had been launched onto and onto the balcony. The giant man ignored the knights that couldn’t even get close enough to hit him and turned to Galehaut.

“You know I have a thing for men with bad tempers but I hate to tell you that I would rather have them be shorter than me. Had you been shorter I might have fallen for you but sadly, you aren’t.” Galehaut said in a tone that made me think he was hitting on him before charging the giant warrior.

Galehaut’s sword collided with the man's shield. Lighting shot into the shield repeatedly as if Galehaut was forcing the sky to strike the giant down. Over and over the lighting hit the shield like a lighting rod on top of a mountain. The giant looked worried but his face turned from that of a scared man to that of a mad genius. The shield released a noise that sounded like the sound of thunder being overlaid a thousand times. The noise sent me as well as every knight and warrior in the general area on our asses.

Though Galehaut was still standing he lowered his sword which was now shattered. Nothing was left except for the hilt and maybe ten centimeters of the blade. From where I was he looked tired but still alive only for him to be bashed in the face with the giants shield. The force of the bash sent Galehaut stumbling backwards before falling off the balcony and onto the dirt street below him.

The giant man looked around and laughed at all of the now either unconscious or scared men littered around him. Blood was scattered all over along with body parts that were blown off by the giant man's shield. Not knowing what else to do I charged forward. The speed in which my fog coated body moved surprised the giant as he staggered back before blocking my sword.

“I only released some of the stored up power in this shield when I defeated that giant knight.” the giant man said with a disturbingly determined smile. Like before the shield released a noise like thunder but rather than sending a shockwave, nothing happened. He looked surprised and repeated the same release of power. Again, the shield made a noise like thunder but nothing happened. The giant looked confused and scared at the realization that it wasn’t working.

Since I knew it had to be my sword that disrupted his shields power I couldn’t help but feel like smiling. My sword and his shield had similar abilities so of course they cancelled each other out. My mask in turn morphed itself into an inhuman smile to match my feelings that frightened the giant warrior upon seeing it. He backed up a little bit out of fear of what I was about to do. The mask which was now contorted into an inhumanly devilish grin unhinged at the jaw and I released a form of laughter that could only be described as pure madness. It made all those who were still conscious shiver in fear. Then before the giant could even think about escaping I raised my sword up and stared him directly in the eyes.

“Are you prepared to die?” I asked as I lunged forward.
