《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 011

The giant man raised his shield and cowered behind it. However, his shield was too small for him to hide behind. Cutting out his legs from beneath him he screamed in agony. As his upper body fell to the ground I jabbed my sword down into his throat. Even with all the pain he was in though he raised his shield and blocked the downward jab.

It was hopeless though, as I pulled the blade back up and brought it down on his stomach. The blade pierced through his abdomen forcing him to gasp out for air. Even if he was still breathing he wouldn’t be for long as blood seeped out from where his legs were and from the wound in his stomach. All he could do was lay there and die.

Seeing the giant of a man being slain the knights who were still conscious began climbing the ladder to help keep the onslaught of warriors from climbing the wall with a new vigor. I on the other hand simply turned to enemy army below me. They were still trying with all their might to overtake the fort despite nearly half of their men being killed.

“Elysif, Compton, how about giving me a hand with this?” I said in a way that only those within the pendant would hear it.

“Of course. We can’t just sit around doing nothing.” Compton said despite him reading most of the time.

“Alright then.” I said before running and jumping off of the balcony into the herd of warriors below. Before I landed on the warriors below who were raising their swords and spears to impale me Elysif’s blood, like a needle piercing through cloth pierced the enemy soldiers bodies. In the same way as cloth hangs out to dry so did they. Motionless, devoid of life, or even the capability to flinch. Elysif was scary.

Landing between the pile of corpses I swung my sword at each and every Warrior that dared to come near me. Those that were able to come from behind were pierced either by Compton's blade or by Elysif’s blood skewers. The knight above watched in shock, horror, and a sense of dread as I slowly decimated the enemy army while shrouded in in a cloud of dense blue-ish black mist.

After what felt like a hundred of the enemy soldiers fell by Elysif, Compton, and I alone they began retreating. I didn’t feel like chasing them though and it seemed neither did anyone else so I went back to the fort. However, there was so many corpses littering the inside and outside of the gate that it couldn’t be opened. Thus, I used one of the enemy ladders to climb back up onto the balcony.

Sure enough everyone was either laying down out of exhaustion or dead so there wasn’t a lot of movement inside the north side of the fort where I was. Since I didn’t have anything else to do I walked over to where Galehaut was and knelt down beside him. He was definitely still breathing so I started slapping the side of his face lightly to wake him up. Sure enough, after a few slaps he opened his eyes and looked around.

“Am I dead?” he asked as if it wasn’t clear that he was alive.

“Nope. the enemy army has retreated and everyone is either dead or tired.” I said in a tone that made it seem like I was a lot happier than I actually was.

“Is Arthur here?” he asked.

“He is, but he’s on the southern side of the fort. It sounds like the fighting has stopped there as well.” I replied.

“Did he bring my man?” He asked. I wasn’t quite sure who he was talking about exactly.

“...W-Who is your man?” I asked, unsure of how to respond.

“Lancelot.” he stated as if it wasn’t common knowledge.

“Oh, yeah. He should be over with Arthur.” I said without hesitation as I now knew who he was talking about. As soon as I finished that sentence he sat up as if nothing was wrong with him and jumped off the balcony where he began running towards the southern wall.

“I’m coming Lancelot!” he shouted as he ran off despite being badly injured not twenty minutes ago.

“Huh, I wonder if he’s the top or the bottom in that relationship?” I said to myself as I rested against the balcony wall. The fact that I hadn’t slept that night as well as fought an enemy army made me extremely tired. I didn’t want to fall asleep out of fear that we might be attacked again but I couldn’t help it. Sure enough, I was asleep within a few minutes… or at least I was until I was woken up by another knight.

“Get up! I don’t care if you’re a Table knight, we need you to help us take care of the dead.” the soldier said as he kicked my foot.

“Fine, fine.” I said as I got up and let out a big yawn.
