《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 017

Walking down the hill into the plain I began to make out more and more of the enemy camp. It was larger than our fort but that made sense as there was nearly three times the amount of soldiers that we had. Before their attack earlier today they probably had four times as many. As I got closer though several soldiers aimed their bows at me, ready to take the shot if necessary.

“Don’t shoot! I came only to talk.” I yelled out as I approached the first set of fences.

“What could you want to talk about?” one of the archers asked. I assumed he was one of their leaders.

“Two of your shadows took my servant hostage. I would like her back. In return I am willing to surrender and even give you information to aid your cause.” I stated. The head archer thought about this for a second before lowering his bow. The others didn’t though.

“Come with me. I’ll take you to someone who is more qualified to hear your request. Though, I cannot allow you to have any weapons on you.” the head archer said.

“I knew before coming here that was a possibility so I left them behind. If you search me you will find no weapons.” I said as I walked up the fence. One of the archers lowered his bow and began searching me up and down for weapons before nodding to the head archer.

“You may cross over. Though, you will find that even the slightest hint of violence will result in you being pierced by a volley of arrows.” he said before I climbed over the fence.

Following the head archer over two more fences he took me past several tents before entering a small clearing filled with several cooking pots and a single large tent. The tent was surrounded by Saxon banners and stood much taller than any of the other tents. Both the Head archer and I walked in through the tent door to see a man in his mid thirties. He looked to be the prime example of a sleazy man. Greasy, dirty, and bald. Warts appeared in different parts of his skin which showed as he wasn’t wearing a shirt. The most disgusting part wasn’t his body but what he was doing. Beneath him on a bed was Medea, partially clothed and with tears streaming down her face.

“What the hell did I say about warning me before entering!” the man asked, enraged by the sudden interruption. Though I was enraged to the point that no words could describe it. The archers, noticing this, released their arrows on me but instead of piercing me they punctured the head archer in front of me. The archers stood in horror as my body was cloaked in blu-ish black mist. As if on cue someone from inside the pendant dropped out my sword. Grabbing it midair I sliced through the archers necks in one long cut. Turning to face the disgusting man he held up Medea in front of him with a knife to her throat.

“Come any closer and she dies.” he exclaimed with fear in his eyes.

“Give her to me and I’ll leave here without killing you or any more of your men.” I said in response. He thought about it for a second before pulling the knife from her throat.

“Do I have your word?” he asked with a frightened look.

“Of course.” I replied.

“Okay.” he said before pushing her towards me. Once she was out of his reach I launched myself forward, stabbing him through the chest. He gasped for breath as the blade entered his body but all he could do was choke as blood filled his lungs.

“You… gave… me… your… word?” he breathed out painfully.

“Yes, but men aren’t always as honorable as you may think. Especially towards someone like you.” I replied as I lowered the tip of my blade and his body slid lifelessly to the ground. Turning to Medea I got down to her level before she jumped on me to give me a hug before bawling her eyes out.

“I was so scared. He kept telling me how he was going to do awful things to me.” she exclaimed as tears streamed down her face and onto the shoulder of my coat.

“I know. I’m sorry. I should have looked for you and Lily as soon as the fighting was over. He didn’t hurt you though, did he?” I asked as I cradled her in my arms.

“Not yet…” she replied. A sigh of relief escaped my mouth as she said this.

Before I could say anything else shadows of soldiers appeared in droves around the tent and the dimming sunlight only made it seem worse. Though I wasn’t trapped at all. I was pissed. Not only at their leader who laid dead on the ground but also at every soldier who may have been a part of Medea’s kidnapping. They were in fact trapped and there was no escape.

Lifting up my sword I tried to do as Merlin suggested and allowed all the magic power that had been stored within it to be released. It was only then though, that I realized the trigger was my unfiltered rage. Holding Medea in my left arm I swung the blade around me in a circle. A focused stream of white light no wider than a sewing needle shot from the tip of the blade as silent as the dead only to be followed by a thunderous crack that sent a gust of wind hailing around us. The tent was cut at waist height all the way through along with every soldier in the camp. The top of the tent was sent flying from the gust of wind and all became silent again.

Looking around I saw the surprised looks of Saxon soldiers as they fell to the ground in pieces. The shock of it was so bad that none of them could even make a sound or call out for forgiveness as they bled into the soil below. All of the tents that filled the camp were singed or up in flames from where they were cut by the blinding lance of light. In the distance I could see the hill was also singed in a perfectly straight cut and above it stood Galehuat who couldn't move from shock.
