《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 019

Walking out to the stables I noticed that everyone was busy packing or getting drunk. Which according to Lily, the enemy shadows had poisoned all the alcohol so it bothered me that they were all drinking. What worried me more was that Arthur was also drinking among some of the knights. Running over I slapped the cup from his hands much to his surprise.
“What the hell!” Arthur exclaimed as his beer soaked into the dirt.
“Didn’t I tell you that the shadows that took my servant also poisoned the alcohol?” I asked as I wasn’t sure whether he was forgetful or just stupid.
“Oh… you thought that it was poisoned. No, no, no. we have a backup reserve hidden in a cellar. We knew it wasn’t touched because it was still covered with leaves and dust.” Arthur replied with a chuckle as one of the knight poured him another cup.
“Then why did Gwaine look so sad that the alcohol was gone?” I asked.
“Because he didn’t know about it. Anyways, you should drink with us. Galehuat is telling everyone about what he saw when you wiped out the army. Rumors should spread like wildfire.” Arthur said happily.
“I can’t really drink at the moment. I’m a little busy. Though why do you want rumors to be spread around?” I asked.
“If the enemy hears that we have someone who can wipe out an army single handed then they may think twice before attacking us. At least that’s what I want to happen. The likelihood of that is fairly low.” Arthur stated as he took a swig of his drink.
“I see. Well, I have things to do so I’ll leave you to it.” I said before walking off towards the stable.

The stable master surprisingly already knew why I was walking over as he walked over to me as I approached and handed me both of the saddlebags from my saddle. I guess he recognized me from when I took the horse yesterday and when I brought it back this morning. Though, I don’t remember ever seeing him this morning. Perhaps he just had good memory.
“Thank you.” I said to him as he handed me the bags.
“You’re welcome. Had it not been for you I would be worried about my family. They live here in the fort so I pray that this place never falls while I live in it. Getting your bags for you is the least I can do.” he said with a smile.
“Glad to help.” I replied before walking away.
Back at the barracks I gave Medea her saddlebag and left my other one with her before going back to Arthur for a drink. Before I left Lily appeared out of the Pendant and instantly embraced Medea and was bawling almost as much as when I saved Medea. Since I didn’t want to bother them I just continued as I was.
Sure enough, Arthur was still sitting around with a few of the knights drinking. Now though, they were passing around this plate filled with sausages and bread. I happened to snag a few before sitting down with them. Arthur, knowing exactly why I came to sit with them poured a cup of ale and passed it to me.
“So how was it?” one of the knights asked me.
“How was what?” I asked before taking a sip of the ale.
“You know. Fighting the entire Saxon army in this area by yourself.” he elaborated.
“Oh. I didn’t really fight many of them. I think I only actually fought six of them. The rest were mowed down with a single swing of my sword.” I explained.

“Did you attack the army head on or what?” another one asked.
“I went to the center of their camp and took back my servant before I did any fighting.” I replied before taking another sip.
“How did you manage that?” Arthur asked with an intrigued look.
“I asked nicely.” I stated.
“That’s a good one.” one of the knights said with a hardy laugh.
“It wasn’t a joke. I asked to see their commander and they took me to him. Simple as that.” I stated. Every one of the knights including Arthur stared at me as if I was crazy.

A Universe of Bloody Evolution
The Void was never meant to be opened to the Multiverse. The horrors waiting inside it should have never seen the light. And yet, the biggest mistake in the history of creation led to the impossible. In an event later known as the Outbreak, gates appeared in the first Universe, and with them, the Void was free. For ages the Void destroyed universe after universe, spreading its power in every direction, leaving only death and pain behind. But before every Universe met its end, it still had a chance. A small part of the population that survived the initial Outbreak and was granted a mysterious System to help them fight against the dangers that came from the Void. They were the Multiverse's last hope even if they couldn't stop the collapse of their own world. And so the cycle continued until the 36th Outbreak came. Leo Hale, a young reporter from Wolford, was one of the lucky ones to survive when the majority of Earth's population turned into monsters straight out of nightmares. Thrust into a constant battle for his life, Leo was determined to push forward and find his remaining family. Even if it meant sacrificing what was left of his humanity. After all, you either adapt or die. Story of progression and evolution with my take at the post-apocalyptic genre. Unlike most monster evolution stories where the monster rushes to gain human form, here I plan to do something quite the opposite. After all, in a world where almost everything wants to kill you, being human can be hard. Warnings are here to give me the freedom to write whatever is necessary. This is my first original novel. Also English isn't my native language so any feedback is welcome. Remember that even if initially this story takes place on Earth, fictional places, streets, etc will appear. Release Schedule: Monday - Wednesday - Friday Average chapter length: 2000-2500 words (There might be exceptions as is the case with some of the first chapters - most of them are longer.)
