Turning to face the woman I noticed that it was one of the women that Arthur was sitting with during my knighthood. She was dressed in a long robe and although she seemed older, her figure and face made her look not a day over thirty. She walked up to me as though I were an acquaintance.

“Thank you for that. We were almost all dead. Though, I don’t believe I know your name.” I said to her.

“I’m Morgan, Morgan La Fey. have you seen Mordred?” she asked with a worried look.

“No, I was just about to go and look for her and Gwaine.” I said.

“Her? You know that?” she asked with a hushed tone.

“Well, yes.” I stated.

“Well, that doesn’t matter right now.” she said with an even more worried look than before.

“Does anyone know where Gwaine and Mordred are?” I asked loudly.

“Mordred was forced away by their leader. Gwaine followed them so they should be up the stairs.” one of them said with a tired expression. Both I and Morgan began heading up the stairs after them.

“Thanks, if any of you are capable, please go to the northern door to help keep it guarded.” I said as I ran up the stairs. Some of the knights nodded and began running down the hallway I came from. Up the stairs Morgan and I both heard the sound of swords clashing in the distance so we ran as fast as we could towards it, hoping no one had been killed.

Several minutes earlier, Mordred stood behind the western door as the sound of a battering ram echoed against the door. Her men all stood frightened but unmoving nonetheless as the townsfolk were rushed down the passage behind them. As the echoing continued she prayed that the door last a little longer. Just a bit longer. Only a bit. Though her prayer was not answered as the battering ram burst through the door followed by many Saxon’s. The initial attack came in a volley of arrows that took out many of the innocent townsfolk who were trying to escape as well as some of the knights defending them.

“Clarent!” Mordred yelled as she brought her sword down against the empty air. Purple flames shot from the blade and the fire engulfed the Saxon’s standing in the door. Despite many of her own knights standing in the way of the flame, none were even so much as singed.

Even though several of the Saxon forces were blown away by the flame or set ablaze many of them still fearlessly charged into the room. The clashing of the knights with the Saxon’s erupted into an ear shattering compilation of clattering metal against metal. A sound that was mixed with the silence of death. Mordred and her knights quickly forced the Saxon’s back out the door before a spread of lighting struck the castle door, sending Mordred flying backwards along with her knights. Saxon’s flooded into the castle, ignoring the fallen knights as they passed over them.

Mordred slowly got back up causing blood to appear from her head, obstructing her sight in her left eye. Though, even with only one eye she could see what was obviously the leader of this attack. A large man wearing steel plates over his chainmail armor and laced with gold. It was unlike any armor she had ever seen before. At his side was a young woman dressed as a sorcerer and a series of wrapping covering most of her face so that only her eyes and parts of her dark brown hair could be seen. In the man’s hands was a large sword similar to that of an executioner's sword and in the woman’s hands was a shortened halbert with a set of gold rings on the end.

“Kill them all!” the large man yelled to his fellow Saxon’s with a menacing tone. The girl next to him nodded her head and with a wave of her halbert all of the knights including Mordred were swept from the floor and into the wall. Some hit the wall so hard and at such an angle that their necks snapped on impact. Others broke bones and even more were knocked unconscious. Mordred however, struck the wall flat and fell to the floor on her knees.

“Clarent!” she screamed as she sent a whirlwind of flames towards the young woman. Though before the flames could reach her the large warrior stepped in front of her to act as some kind of shield.

“What?” Mordred said to herself in bewilderment. The soldier was unharmed by her flames. Though his armor glowed a bright red and some of his chainmail melted he was unharmed. Giving a soft yet menacing smile the man walked over to Mordred who began swinging her sword at him. Every attack she gave was easily blocked by the man who just seemed to smile even more menacingly with every block.

“Is this all Arthur can muster up for soldiers? Has he no ability to find a single competent soldier on these islands?” the man laughed before finally attacking. Bringing his blade down against Mordred with so much strength that it cracked the floor beneath them. Though that was all it did. Mordred was already moving out of the way as he brought his sword down. Even with her sight lessened she saw her opening and stabbed her sword directly into his chest. His smile turned from menacing to raw insanity as he began laughing like a maniac.

“Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha… Now that’s more like it! I love it when they fight back!” he bellowed as he grabbed Mordred’s hand and raised his sword once more. With Clarent still in his chest Mordred looked desperate. She called out the sword's name and flames appeared from the man’s mouth, yet he didn’t even flinch. In fact, he laughed harder.
