“Are you okay?” Medea asked as she walked over to me.

“I don’t know. Perhaps?” I replied. She rolled her eyes at me, which I don’t think she meant for me to see. Getting up I looked around the room. Nothing had changed. Tim was right. I was unable to save anyone. Then I heard someone say something from inside the pendant.

“What happened to you?” I heard Mordred ask.

“I met Tim and he allowed me to try and save Freya. However, it didn’t work. Were none of you there?” I said.

“No, you heard the news about Freya and then a second later you were on the floor as if you teleported.” Mordred replied.

“I see…”

“Wait, you met with Tim? Does that mean we can leave this time period?” Elysif interjected.

“Sadly, no. Tim wouldn’t allow us to leave.” I said with a disheartened tone. Medea looked over at me with a curious look.

“Who are you talking with?” Medea asked. I had forgotten that she was there for a second. Shit!

“Uh, nobody.” I replied unconvincingly. She raised an eyebrow like a mother who just caught their child in a lie.

“You know I can also hear who you're talking to.” she stated.

“Is that so? Well then, I guess you’re going crazy along with me.” I said jokingly.

“I am not!” she rebutted angrily.

“Anyways, I need to go see what’s going on. You should probably get some breakfast and wait here for the time being.” I said before throwing my coat on and walking out the door. She tried to say something but the door was shut before I could hear it.

Heading down the hall I went to the spot where Freya had been murdered. Sure enough, Merlin was still there cradling the dead Freya in his arms while Arthur was trying to console him as best he could. I didn’t want to approach the scene in all honesty since I failed to save her. Though the moment that Arthur saw me I knew I had to at the very least give my condolences.

With my head held low I walked over to them. Merlin didn’t even pay me any mind. Arthur on the other hand gave me a look as if he was warning me to not say anything at all. I knew exactly why too. Arthur was probably struggling with the fact that he could have prevented this. I knew I was. However, I have also seen what happens when you try to change the past. No matter what he thought he could have done differently, it would not have worked.

“What shall I do?” I asked, not knowing what else to say. Merlin turned his head up and looked at me. With a vicious hate in his eyes he glared unlike any human entity.

“Find Balin and make him suffer. That is all that I want to be done. It’s all I need right now.” Merlin said as his words of hate turned into sadness. Then he stood up and began walking west with his wife’s body in his arms.

“Where is he going?” I asked Arthur.

“To send her off in the way of her people. He shall place her in a boat filled with oil, spices, and treasures before sending it adrift to the west. Then to light the way he shall set it ablaze with a flaming arrow. It shall take him some time to do it alone.” Arthur said as he began walking up the stairs to the castle.

“You’re not going with him?” I asked.

“If I did then I would dishonor her. I could have prevented this and yet, I did nothing. Plus, he would rather do it alone.” Arthur said as he gave me a sad smile before walking inside. I followed after him.

“Arthur, there wasn’t anything that you could have done to stop it. Not Gwaine’s death, and surely not Freya’s.” I said.

“How would you know?” he yelled angrily in a way that I had yet to hear him.

“... because I already tried. Nothing either of us can do will save her and I can time travel. Merin will soon kill you now and there is nothing that I can do to stop it. I will still try though. Not because I think I can but because I feel like I should.” I said. Arthur stared at me for a second as if he was trying to figure out what to say next.

“I understand. Though may I make a request?” He asked in a much calmer fashion than he was speaking before.

“Of course.”

“May I spend the day with my daughter? I wish to spend some time with her before I die. I shall spend tomorrow with the Mordred that you don’t have with you.” he asked.

“That’s not for me to decide.” I said. As soon as I said it though, Mordred appeared out of the pendant with a large grin on her face. She could at least be respectful of the fact that someone just died but I wasn’t going to say anything. She looked too happy.
