《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 037

Like yesterday, I worked with the reconstruction projects and helped move lumber from the destroyed houses. While I was working though, Mordred was off with her father having some bonding time. I swear that I do all the work while most of them get to laze around and read inside the pendant all day. Yeah, every now and then they help me out in combat, but when was the last time they ever offered to help me do the manual labor? Never! It was actually starting to piss me off.
Either way, this work needed to be done and I kind of needed to help since I was now a Knight of the Round Table. That said, I still didn’t want to do it and Dinadon wasn’t making it any easier. His jokes were awful or just awkward to me. Yeah, some of the others thought it was funny but I guess I wasn’t in tune with this age of humor. However, I didn’t want to hear it. It just made my workday even longer.
The only good thing was that Medea had water duty so she would bring me water. Whenever they would give her a break, which was quite often, she would bring one of the books I was using to help her learn to read and she would do her best to read it out loud to me while I worked. The others around me found it awfully cute and at the same time allowed us to pass the time faster. Despite only working on it with her for a total of three weeks she was doing very well.
When I was alone though I was bored beyond belief. The work was hard and made the day go by slower than I would have liked. Eventually I decided to try talking to whomever may be listening inside the pendant. However, I heard no replies from inside it. Perhaps Elysif and Compton weren’t even bothering to stay near the door. After the third request for a chat Elysif ended up answering.

“Took you long enough. I have been trying to talk to you for the past several hours.” I said knowing that I had only requested an audience within the past several minutes.
“You can’t blame me for not being here all the time. It’s really fucking boring. All you have been doing is work and listening to my mother read you bedtime stories poorly.” Elysif said with a tinge of annoyance.
“Well you could come out here and help me.” I replied with the same level of annoyance.
“Why should I? I’m not a knight of the Round Table and I sure as hell am not one of Arthur’s lackeys.” she replied with a bratty yet dignified tone.
“Whatever. Now what have you and Compton been up to? You, Mordred, and Compton must be really bored in there.” I asked as I sifted through a few pieces of burnt timber.
“Compton has been holed up in Iscarat’s study for the past two days. He’s been trying to figure out if he can use Iscarat’s spacial magic. I don’t think we’ll be seeing him for a few more days at the very least.” she said.
“That’s interesting… I guess. What about you and Mordred?” I asked.
“We have been playing cards and reading on and off. When we aren’t helping you fight we are usually very bored and Mordred can’t even help you fight. Her fighting style is for close range fighting so it’s pretty useless in here.” Elysif replied with a melancholic tone. She seemed rather bored.
“Well, like I said, you could come out here and help me work.” I said.
“And risk being seen by Merlin? Not happening! If he recognises me in the future it would be bad.” she said.

“He will be gone for a while. Plus, it’s been a while since you were able to walk outside. It wouldn’t hurt for you to stretch your legs.” I said, egging her on.
“Fine…” she said with what I assumed was an eye roll. She then appeared out from the pendant. Rather than looking well rsted she actually looked tired. Her hair was tied up but was rather messy and instead of wearing pants like she normally did she was wearing what looked like 1800’s poofy nightwear.
“Have you been sleeping properly?” I asked with a worried tone.
“Do I really look that bad?” she replied.
“No, you look beautiful but you still look terrible sleep deprived.” I replied as I pointed out the bags under her eyes that were looking a strange shade of silvery black.
“Well thank you for the compliment. Though, no, I haven’t been sleeping well. With Compton trying to teach himself a style of sorcery that was invented by a madman and Mordred being useless as a supporter, I’ve been the one who has had to keep an eye on you all the time. I haven’t been able to sleep for more than a few hours at a time for nearly a week.” she said with a tired sigh.
“I’m sorry. You should go take a nap. No one is going to attack me right now and I can handle myself for the time being.” I said with an even more worried tone.
“But-” she started to say.
“No buts. Just go to the castle and sleep in the bed in my room. I’ll wake you up when I’m done working.” I interrupted in hopes that it would ease her worries and let her get some much needed rest. She let out a heavy sigh since she knew I was only trying to help her and started walking to the castle.

Moonlight
Three powers were discovered and harnessed so that they could be controlled. These powers are required to keep the planet alive, and need human bearers to focus and amplify their individual powers, but at what cost to their bearers? Power over the elements, controlling the flow of time, and dictating life and death are the powers that three young adults wield in Moonlight, but their lives will be changed forever. Moonlight follows the stories of Claire, Jayden, and Seraphine, as they learn to control these powers that desire to consume them. Author Notes: Hello! This isn't my first attempt at writing a story, and it isn't even my first attempt at writing this particular story, but I'm not in any way what I would call "experienced". I decided to upload my writing here because I just wanted to get my ideas out there, and I wanted to get some constructive criticism for my writing from the RRL community. All comments are welcome, but please try to keep them positive and constructive! If you leave a rating, I would appreciate it if you left a short explanation of what you liked and what I can improve on. I'll be uploading each chapter as I finish them, but this is still the first draft so anything and everything is subject to change. The cover art is drawn by me, but I'm in no way married to it. I just wanted something that showed the three magical sources, as I picture them in my head. If you do any art based on this story, send it to me! I would love to see it. I'll stop talking now, I hope you enjoy the story!
