《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 039

Elysif didn’t bother saying anything as I was really too tired to listen properly so she disappeared into the pendant. Lily did the same without saying a word and I fell asleep. In the night I was woken up by a knock at the door. I didn’t have any desire to get up so I just said to come in. I had forgotten that Mordred was out of the pendant so seeing her walk through the door was a shock. For a second I had thought that it was the Mordred from this time period and almost flipped out. Thankfully she clarified and then disappeared inside the pendant. However, she left the door to the room open so whether I wanted to get up or not, I had to and it was quite annoying.

The next morning I woke up and did the same as I had before. Nothing different happened. Though, Medea woke up with what happened yesterday still on her mind. Rather than helping out with delivering water to those working that morning she instead persistently kept asking who Elysif was and why she called me her lover. I didn’t have an answer for her that wouldn’t lead to more questions so I gave her the simple answer: she's just a friend. However, Medea was more perceptive than I took her for and didn’t believe me. After several hours of her questioning she gave up and returned to her duties.

The other knights, especially Dinadon, found the whole situation funny and ultimately enjoyable to watch. If only they knew what reality TV was. With everyone working though, we could use the entertainment. That said, I just wish I wasn’t the one doing the entertaining. Around three-ish in the afternoon while I was collecting a small pile of wood from one of the wrecked houses when I could have sworn I saw a small log fall out of nowhere. Looking around I thought maybe someone threw it but there wasn’t anyone in any of the nearby buildings. It was just me.

Seeing as it was probably nothing I went back to work and another log fell out of nowhere. This time right in front of me. Looking around again I didn’t see anyone. Then I remembered what Elysif said yesterday.

“Compton, I know that was you.” I said. As soon as I said this another log fell, then another, and another. Logs were falling everywhere around me.

“Compton! Stop it!” I yelled as it continued raining forearm length logs. I could hear Compton laughing from the other side. Then it stopped.

“Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.” Compton said from inside the pendant.

“I see that you have learned how to use Iscarat’s spacial magic.” I said sarcastically.

“Well, a little bit. I’ve only been able to figure out how to make basic portals from a short distance away.” Compton said, ignoring my sarcasm.

“Well, it’s a start. Though I have to take back the thought I had that you were more mature than the girls.” I said.

“If it’s any consolation, it was Lily’s idea.” Compton said.

“Hey! That’s a lie. You wanted to do it without my input and it was Elysif who first thought of it.” Lily yelled from a bit further away. It sounded like she was hitting Compton but I couldn’t tell and if she was then it must not have been that hard since Compton wasn’t reacting.

“That’s not true either! I never told him to do anything other than that he should try his spacial magic out through the pendant.” Elysif interjected. They were all arguing and I wished that I could mute them but the pendant didn’t have a function like that so I dealt with it and just kept working.

Once the sun was setting and everyone began heading towards the dining hall I saw Arthur speaking with a very tired looking Merlin. I assumed that he had just returned from the ocean and although I wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, I had to keep an eye on him. As far as I knew, Arthur would be killed by Merlin after his wifes murder. When that was is unknown to me so keeping an eye on him would be prudent.

However, I was too tired to worry about it right now. I’ll watch him tomorrow. For now, I just needed some food and some rest. Continuing on with my business I went inside the castle and towards the dining hall.

“Merlin, I see that you have returned.” Arthur said kindly as Merlin approached the steps to the castle. He looked tired, beaten, and emotionally weak.

“Yes, I have. She was sent off without any issues. Has there been any news as to Balin’s whereabouts?” Merlin asked. Arthur gave him a discouraging look.

“I’m afraid not. It will take some time to hear about him. I assume that whomever captures him will bring him back here posthaste without even bothering to send word of his capture.” Arthur said.

“I see. Then I shall be confined to my study for a while. Please do not bother me. I need some time alone.” Merlin said with a depressed tone. Arthur nodded his head and Merlin walked inside. Arthur However, stood outside the castle wrestling with whether or not he should tell Merlin about his knowledge of Freya’s death. The guilt weighing on him like an anvil.
