《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 044

“The truth.” Elysif said nonchalantly.

“And what exactly is the truth? The truth about what?” I asked.

“That I’m her daughter and you’re from the future.” Elysif answered with the same nonchalant attitude.

“Excuse me, what?”

“You heard me. Is that wrong?” she said in an almost rude manner.

“Yes! Do you have any idea how much that could screw things up? Just telling her that could alter things an any number of ways.” I said loudly as I was about to lose it.

“I don’t see the issue if everything is going to end up exactly the same.” she replied without any sign of regret in her voice.

“You have a point. However, we still can’t do anything like that. If anything happens that could give Merlin the edge in this fight then we could all die. The future may be set in stone up until we left but there is still a chance anything we do could bite us in the ass after that point.” I explained.

“... I didn’t think of that.” Elysif said as she crossed her arms. She looked like a child who was just scolded for being mean to a close friend. A tinge of guilt seemed to creep up on her. I kind of felt bad for getting mad. However, I knew it was right to call her out. I let out a small sigh.

“Look, it should be fine. I just have a lot on my mind right now and I don’t know what to do. So please, don’t let my tone get to you.” I said as caringly as I could.

“Yeah, I get it.” she said before grabbing the pendant and disappearing inside it.

With that issue now somewhat dealt with I headed back to my room. What I probably should have been more wary of was who may have been around when I was talking with Elysif because just around the corner stood Merlin. Unknown to me, he had heard the whole thing and I would come to pay for my lack of awareness later.

“So, he’s from the future? How interesting…” Merlin said to himself with a creepy smile. Biting at his thumbnail he began to get excited for some reason.

“To think that was why he knew about Freya’s death, about Mordred’s true identity, and about everything else that has popped up. Using him would probably be far more beneficial to me than killing him right now so I have to come up with something interesting.” Merlin continued as he walked away. The smile that was now plastered on his face was of neither joy, nor rage, but pure madness.

Upon entering my room I saw that the food I had brought for Medea was completely eaten. I’m glad she decided to eat something. It would worry me if she kept pouting like this even after I had left. Throwing my jacket onto the table I laid down in the bed and covered myself so that I could sleep. Before I could even shut my eyes Medea sat up from the other side of the bed.

“Micheal?” she said.

“Yes?”

“Is it true that you’re from the future?” she asked.

“....well, yes.” I replied without moving from where I laid.

“And is it also true that that woman is my daughter?” she asked. I didn’t want to tell her much more but lying to her felt wrong.

“Yes…”

“Does that mean that she’s your daughter?” she asked. The question hit me like a sack of bricks and if I had been drinking something then I was sure I would have done a spit take. Sitting completely upright I looked at Medea who was blushing like a sunset.

“Not at all! I actually met her before I met you.” I said honestly and albeit a bit on edge. She looked a bit sad after I answered her for some reason but I knew I couldn’t just lie to her. It would make things way worse had I lied and said yes.

“... I see.” she said as she laid back down and rolled over. Now I feel bad for some reason. This was not okay at all so why did I feel bad about it.

“Um…” Medea started to say.

“What is it?” I asked.

“Could you promise me something?” she asked.

“What kind of promise?” I asked.

“Could you promise me that you’ll stay with me?” she asked. I didn’t exactly know what to say to that at all. I knew that after I leave I may never come back. Once I do leave it will be another thirteen hundred years until I see her again. God, I hope that Elysif or anyone else for that matter was listening to this conversation.

“We’ll see. The future is never set...” I replied as vaguely as possible. That was a lie though, and I knew it better than anyone.

“Okay.” she said as she seemed satisfied with that answer. No more words were said after that as we both went to sleep.
