《The Supernatural Case of an Accidental Time Traveler》War - Part 047

“Yes, it seems that the Danes have taken part in this war. They are significantly stronger than the Saxon’s that we have been fighting recently and their naval capabilities far surpass our own.” Brunor explained.

“That does make it more difficult. Though this just means that the attack on Camelot had nothing to do with this attack. They just happened to be around the same time.” Arthur said as he rubbed his chin. Suddenly an arrow flew by his ear and into the ground in front of him. He smirked at how lucky he was. Which made Brunor a bit more on edge.

“What shall you have us do, Arthur? Even with your reinforcements, it will be difficult to fight them as we are.” Brunor asked. Arthur smiled and gave a sly look towards me. I couldn’t help but feel as if I was about to be drafted for something stupid. Sure enough, that’s exactly what was happening.

“Micheal, I need you to hop over the wall and take out as many as you can. Once you feel tired or overwhelmed you can retreat. Though, make it a show. We want them to have their eyes on you for as long as possible.” Arthur said.

“What are you going to do then?” I asked.

“Give them a good time.” Arthur replied with a smirk. I didn;t exactly know what he had planned but I went with it and focused on slowing time. The blue-ish black mist coated my body and everything slowed down around me. Those who were running around seemed like they were walking at the slowest pace possible. Running up to one of the balconies I jumped over the protective wall into a large gathering of Danes.

After slamming into my initial landing I drew my sword and began cutting them down with ease. No one was fast enough to stop my attacks and not even the archers arrows were fast enough to graze me. Despite seeing a ghastly humanoid figure cloaked in blue and black, the Danes continued charging at me. They fell just as quickly. With me fighting them off so easily the Danes turned their attention to fighting me and stopped all hostilities to the fort for the time being.

With nothing better to do than to keep on fighting until Arthur was ready with whatever he had planned I was growing a little disappointed. It actually felt a bit wrong for me to be killing them like this. It wasn’t even a fight. You could say it was like using high grade explosives on a small puddle to kill any fish that may or may not be living in it.

It was about time for me to really stop and retreat out of desire rather than necessity. I wasn't tired nor was I overwhelmed. I was just feeling sorry for them. As I was thinking this, a large volley of glass bottles filled with an unknown substance and the openings stuffed with flaming rags were all launched at the danes. Many of the Danes were initially pained by the shattered glass stuck in them. However, within a few seconds they were all in flames.

“Did Arthur just launch a ton of molotov cocktails at the enemy?” I asked myself as I watched the small sea of flaming Danes. The Danes that were over by their tents and makeshift fort began flipping out and watched in horror as their men were engulfed in flames. Those on the boats stopped firing their arrows at the other forts just out of pure shock from watching their brothers in arms go up in flames.

Those around me which weren’t on fire quickly ran back to their encampment in a tactical retreat. Seeing this, the Danes on the boats quickly began retreating as well. Mordred saw this and quickly mounted a full counter attack. Volley after volley of arrows pierced the Danes as they attempted their retreat. Those that were actually able to survive the volley of arrows were brought down by catapult fire. Within what seemed like only a few minutes the entire battle was turned around.

Since my job was now done I walked over to the nearest entrance and began yelling for them to open the gate. With all the cheering from the other side though, none of them heard me so I waited. After about thirty minutes they finally opened the gate for me. To say the least, I was fairly annoyed with how long I had to wait. Though, I didn’t bother getting mad about it. Everyone was so happy from their victory that it was pointless to be angry.

Those around me who had been holding off the siege for a long time now were embracing each other and crying tears of joy. Arthur and Brunor both looked at ease now that the fighting was over, at least temporarily. Brunor more so than Arthur.

“So what now?” I asked as I approached Arthur and Brunor.

“Well, we rest. The men who had been fighting for so long deserve a break. However, we can;t just leave the Danes be. I will be going with a few select men to negotiate with them. Hopefully we can have them leave without any more fighting.” Arthur said.

“I’ll go with you then.” I said.

“And I as well.” Merlin said as he walked over to us.

“Good. as soon as we get a few more we will head over.” Arthur said.

“Would it be a bother for me to go as well?” Langston asked as he walked up from behind Merlin.

“I don’t see why not.” Arthur said.
