Looking up around me all I saw was the large trees and layers of moss. A few paths that were probably made by animals surrounded me. I had no clue where exactly I was but I didn’t really care. Without any hesitation I grabbed the pendant from around my neck and disappeared inside of it. Lying before me was Mordred’s body. Elysif and Compton were both sitting beside her as if they thought she could come back to life. Compton was crying and Elysif was doing her best not to. Neither of them spoke a word as they sat there. All the while, Lily stood off to the side with a sad look. She looked as if she wanted to comfort them but she didn’t know what to say.

“I’m sorry.” I said with obvious pain in my voice as I walked up to them. Elysif didn’t even look up as I did. Compton however, stood up and without bothering to wipe the tears from his face, walked over to me and struck me in the face as hard as he could.

“You could have saved her! Why didn’t you? Now, she's dead. Because of you, and that piece of shit Merlin!” Compton yelled at me before storming off. Looking over at Lily I could tell that she agreed with him. However, she didn’t want to say anything.

“Do you blame me as well?” I asked Elysif as I sat down beside Mordred’s corpse.

“No, I don’t… she wanted to go out and fight despite knowing that she couldn’t win. I’m just sad that she died. To be honest, both Compton and I are partly to blame as we didn’t try to stop her.” Elysif said as she lifted her head up to look at me. The tear stains fresh on her cheeks and her eyes a bright irritated red.

“What am I supposed to do? Iscarat is dead, Arthur is dead, and now Mordred is dead. People around me are dying and I can’t stop it. I don’t know what to do…” I said as I began crying quietly. Elysif gave me a surprised look, as did Lily.

“It must be hard. You keep having to shoulder the burdens of everyone else and no one is giving you the time to shoulder your own. I won’t stop you if you want to give up.” Elysif said as she hugged me and began crying even more. Lily, feeling somewhat selfish and left out, walked over and hugged me as well.

“You know, Mordred told me something similar… Though, I can’t give up. Not yet. We have work to do. For now, can you keep Mordred’s body safe?” I asked as I realized something.

“No… all I can do is prepare the body for a burial. Why exactly do you want it to be kept safe?” Elysif asked.

“I don’t think Mordred would mind if we used her body to get back at Merlin. If you look closely you could say that she looks somewhat similar to Silva.” I replied. Elysif’s eyes widened at what I was insinuating but despite being shocked and probably disturbed she didn’t try to argue against it.

“Don’t you have access to a time god? Why not just ask them to store her body so that it doesn’t decompose?” she asked.

“Good point.” I said, realizing that she had a point I reached under Mordred’s body and picked it up. With a bit of focusing I shut my eyes and when I opened them I was back in the world of stars.

“What are you doing back here?” Tim asked.

“Could you keep this body from deteriorating?” I asked.

“... sure, but why?” she asked.

“I think that her body might come in handy later.” I said before setting the corpse on the ground and returning back to wherever I was before. Tim gave me a look of utter shock and disappointment as I did.

Looking around I was back in the woods. The pendant that I was wearing was lying on the ground so I grabbed it and placed it around my neck. It looked like the sun was directly above me so it must have been around noon. Since I had no clue where I was I just started walking in a random direction. I was bound to reach some place that was inhabited eventually.

Once I was out of the woods I could see a couple of cottages surrounding some farmland. Seeing as how I didn’t have anywhere else to go, I went up to it. Sitting just outside of one of the small cottages was an older man who was roughly in his forties. Children were running around playing and doing chores as he watched with a drink in his hand.

“What brings you out here Sir? And what’s with the mask?” the older man asked me.

“I am traveling and am just passing through. As for the mask, it is cursed and I can’t take it off.” I replied.

“I see. Well, you ought to stay here for the night. We would love having you. My father is old and wouldn’t mind having a guest to trade stories with.” the older man said.

“But you barely know me.” I said.

“Doesn’t matter. Plus, I couldn’t let you go alone in the dark. The neighbors have been acting up recently and the next village is a day's walk from here.” the man replied.

“Then I guess I’ll take you up on your offer. Though I will be paying you for your kindness whether you want me to or not.” I said before walking up to him and handing him a couple of coins from my pocket that I had left over. He smiled a bit before leading me inside.
