《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 18 – GEM SHOP

As Feng Luotian was enjoying the ‘show’, everyone else felt that he had become weird, staring at them while contemplating about something, until Peacock Lord could not help but ask: “Tian’er, are you sure you’re alright?”
Being woken up, Feng Luotian hurriedly replied: “Oh, yes. Everything is fine, Uncle Mei.”
Mei Yue’er still could not put her mind at ease. She asked her father’s opinion about it: “Father, I think we should let the doctor check him for another round. What do you think?”
But before her father answered, Feng Luotian insisted to his friend: “Yue’er, I’m fine, really. In fact, I would like to travel outside the city alone for a while.” He quickly jumped out of the bed and tidied his cloth, ready to go out at any time.
Mei Yue’er did not even want him to walk, now Feng Luotian wished to go out of the city by himself: “What? Where are you going? You’re hit by lightning just last night. You should rest more!!”
Feng Luotian: “I said I’m fine, why don’t you believe me? I was just going out of the city to look for an opportunity to breakthrough. Don’t you want that as well?”
Mei Yue'er: “But …”
Peacock Lord concluded before the conversation turned into a fight: “Yue’er, since he himself said he’s fine, then it’s fine. If you are still worried, then you can accompany him on his travel.” He already received the report that Feng Luotian was fine. He came here just to confirm if that lightning was a natural phenomenon or was caused by someone.
However, Feng Luotian rejected the idea as he wanted to train by himself: “That would be no need, Uncle Mei. Yesterday, Yue’er was over-exhausted her energy and not yet recovered. She should be the one who takes her time and rest.”
Not waiting for anyone’s response, Feng Luotian continued: “You too, Brother Sun. Although you’re faring much better than Yue’er, you need to prepare for the entrance exam next month. So, I’d like to encourage both of you to use your time wisely. I’ll be fine and work hard to break through in this period of time. I promise.” His tone turned more serious in each sentence. Seeing his determination, everyone in the room could only let him do as he wanted.
Peacock Lord stated his intention: “Since that’s the case, then we will take our leave.”

Feng Luotian bid his farewell to Peacock Lord and First Elder before they both left the room.
Sun Wuji could not help but ask: “Will you be fine by yourself, Brother Feng?”
Feng Luotian: “Don’t worry. I won’t go far and I will be traveling with merchants along with their bodyguards to see the world outside a bit. Who knows? With some luck, I might find some method to cure my condition.”
“Alright, then. But …”
Sun Wuji signaled using his glance towards a girl who was now puffing her cheek like a steamed bun with a little red glint from anger as she scoffed: “Hmph!! I won’t talk to you anymore!!”
With that, Mei Yue’er ran out of the room.
Feng Luotian could do nothing but sigh at this sight.
Sun Wuji comforted his brother, then joked: “It will be okay after you come back. Just go find the chance you said. We will wait for your good news. And by the way, your eyes look wicked now than before”
Feng Luotian chuckled in respond: “Hehe. Thank you”
After walking out of Alchemy Center, they both bid their goodbye, then went on separate ways.
After parting ways with Sun Wuji, Feng Luotian returned to his home to prepare a few things. After that, Feng Luotian did actually go to the merchant area close to the city gate, but it was not for traveling together with them as he said to his friends. He went straight to the gem shop.
This gem shop was not selling ordinary gems or accessories for women. Its main merchandises were monster cores. There were a few people within the shop selecting the monster cores they wanted to trade. Feng Luotian looked around the place until someone came and received him. As he was God’s son, the attendant of the gem shop recognized him straightaway
The attendant greeted: “How may I help you, young master Feng?”
Feng Luotian directly voiced his mind: “I would like to do some trade.”
The attendant nodded: “Of course. What level of monster cores do you wish to trade, young master Feng?”
Feng Luotian flatly said: “Bring all monster cores of lightnign type and speed type.”
The attendant frowned in confusion: “Monster cores of attack type and speed type, young master?”
Feng Luotian instantly paused, also with a frown, as he thought: “!!? Aah, I forgot. But I didn’t expect that this lower planet’s knowledge to be lacking this much. No wonder Teacher Shu never once mentioned this knowledge in the class"

Teacher Shu did not teach his students about monster cores’ types, not because it was not important, but it was because he did not know about it. And probably even Peacock Lord did not know about this, otherwise, he would share this information with the rest of the city to increase its growth as a whole.
There were many types of monster cores depending on their unique hidden benefits after refining them, but those benefits were negligible individually. However, if one refined a few dozens of the same type of monster cores, then the effect would start to shine.
Some of the monster cores could even increase the skill proficiency with the same trait.
[Skill Proficiency] was the amount of training one needed to do to upgrade the skill’s power.
Feng Luotian’s [Pinnacle Flash Lightning] was a speed-type skill. If he could refine special speed type monster cores, he would be able to upgrade his Legendary skill faster.
Feng Luotian shook his head: “Never mind that. Bring all monster cores of Seven Fangs to Nine Fangs.”
The attendant was surprised by his deman: “Seven Fangs to Nine Fangs, young master?”
“!!?” Feng Luotian started to get irritated with this attendant: “You don’t even have those?”
The attendant answered: “We have some of those, young master, but not many. And if you would like to trade monster cores higher than Seven Fangs, you need to directly conduct such a trade with the shop owner. But before that, we need a warranty.”
A warranty was needed as such trade required a lot of money. The shop could not just flaunt out their precious items for customers to look at while they had no assets to purchase them.
Feng Luotian took out a monster core from his bag: “I see. Is this enough to be a warranty?”
Upon witnessing the item, the attendant fell butt-first on the ground. After regaining his nerve, he quickly scrammed to get this ‘shop owner’ he claimed earlier. As for the other people within the shop, their eyes were on fire with greed.
The monster core Feng Luotian took out could really warrant such a reaction from the attendant as it was a One Talon monster core that he got from the Wight Wolf. Its actual worth could even purchase their entire shop.
Not a minute later, an old man rushed to greet Feng Luotian and invited him to his private quarter to secretly conduct the trade: “I deeply apologized for not receiving you myself, young master Feng. Please sit.”
Feng Luotian cut any unnecessary conversations as he knew what the shop owner was about to say: “Just take all the monster cores you’re proud of out for me to choose.”
“Yes, yes, right away, young master.”
The shop owner grabbed the key he hid on top of a high shelf and used it to unlock a huge treasure chest behind him. He took a small yet much more exquisite box out of the chest. He then carefully placed it on the table and used his own unique Theríon to break the seal on the box to open it. Inside, there were dozens of Seven Fangs monster cores, a few Eight Fangs ones, and only one Nine Fangs monster core.
Feng Luotian checked the names of the monster cores. With the knowledge he gained from Coeus, he could tell what types of monster cores they were just by looking at their names. That was why he came to sell Wight Wolf Core even if it was a Talon monster core.
The hidden benefit of Wight Wolf Core could increase the stealth skill proficiency, making it a stealth type. As Feng Luotian did not have any skill with stealth power, if he was to refine it, the only thing he gained would only be energy, losing all hidden benefits. And even if he was to gain a stealth-type skill in the future, these benefits would still be lost, because they could only provide benefits to the current skills.
The same goes for all the monster cores Feng Luotian used before he was awakened. All of their hidden benefits were gone just like that because he did not have any skills at that time. This had left a slight tinge of pain in his heart until now.
That was not what he wanted, so he came to trade for lower-level monster cores with lightning type and speed type to enjoy their hidden features.
With a smug on his face as he had fun checking the names of the monster cores and was complacent with all the knowledge from his past life. However, Kronos just had to slap his knowledge’s face to the floor as it showed its system window.
