《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 59 : THE END OF THE EXAM

Heron Lord begged: “So, Peacock Lord, please stop the exam. It’s really important to me to acquire these items!! I will pay anything you want afterward!!”
Peacock Lord let out a huge sigh: “Okay, I’ll enter the exam site and end it right away.”
However, the moment he turned towards the screen Feng Luotian already burst out his last stock of Theríon and activated his [Pinnacle Flash Lightning], charging straight at the clone.
“NO!!” Everyone exclaimed in unison but it was too late for them to do anything.
As for Heron Lord, his knees were already on the floor: “N-N-No, Little Lord. Please stop what you’re doing!!”
But how could Feng Luotian hear anything from outside the exam?
Mei Hongyi quickly gave a palm strike aiming at Feng Luotian’s incoming face, however, with his [Momentum Eyes], if his opponent was not faster than him, it was practically impossible to hit him.
Feng Luotian spun his body to dodge the palm strike and swung down his azure blade upon the clone’s body.
Heron Lord screamed: “NOOOOOOOO!!” But no matter how hard and loud he roared; the slash was made anyway.
Being slashed himself, Mei Hongyi could not even tickle as the damage done to him was absolutely negligible. Mei Hongyi smiled conceitedly as he said: “This is the power of the so-called precious treasure!? How laughable!! Haha … ha … !!”
His laugh was slowed down. In fact, not only his laugh but also his whole body was slowed down to the point that his speed became those of the snails.
The azure blade was from the Blade Tail Blue Lion whose tail could freeze enemies a whole realm above.
After the slash, the azure glow on the blade dimmed down as it lost all of its properties, looking more like a normal blade in any smithy shop, so Feng Luotian threw it away.
And of course, against the clone was Three Talons which was the late-stage Talon Realm, how could a single tail from a middle-stage Fang Realm completely restrain it?
Another slash must be made, but the crowds did not think so. They were crying and shouting at the screen, wishing for Feng Luotian to change his mind.

Heron Lord’s eyes already teared up as he knelt senselessly on the floor ever since the first slash was made.
Not waiting for anyone, Feng Luotian quickly made another slash with his violet blade which had a paralytic function. As of now, the clone was completely still, the same went for Heron Lord as he lost his consciousness.
Feng Luotian shouted: “Now!!”
Tu Lingxi immediately jumped out of the ancient ruin towards the clone carrying both Sun Wuji and Ying Lizhua. And it was not just a normal jump as she was jumping from a petal she prepared, increasing the force in the process.
Right where her momentum reached its maximum speed, she released them to continue on their path to the clone.
Next was Sun Wuji’s turn. He activated his skill [Bouldering Toss] that would increase the force of the object he threw.
He then tossed Ying Lizhua who had the attack boost of almost 50 times prior to this. Coupling with Tu Lingxi’s [Petal Prance] and Sun Wuji’s [Bouldering Toss], Ying Lizhua’s power was more than 700 times his original attack capability.
Even with the Suppressive Principle, the strongest clone had no chance under this ultimate strike.
Ying Lizhua retrieved his sword as he was shot straight to the clone. Whilst he was traveling through the air, the atmosphere around him trembled under overwhelming pressure. With a tremendously damage-boosted attack and without any Theríon to protect itself, the sword that could not pass through its fingers now cut its head off like tofu, making the strongest clone disappear into the light particles.
This flashy and ultimate move should have been in the limelight, yet everyone’s attention was on the items Feng Luotian previously used instead. If Ying Lizhua was to know of this fact, no one knew how he would feel.
A few moments later, everyone turned into the light particles and was teleported back outside, signaling the end of the exam. As for the final result on the scoreboard …

In the end, nearly two thousand people of applicants, only 13 people had passed the exam. What the hell was this?
The crowds still made complaints and tried to request some explanations from the school officers, causing quite a ruckus in front of the stage.
Mei Hongli who was pushed down from the first ranking to the sixth one also dropped to the floor. He could not believe that someone could pull it off, defeating a Three Talon clone while being two years younger than him.
As for the father, Mei Hongyi, he was not faring any better. After waking up from the skill, he was bombarded by the cursing words from the top figures. Especially Heron Lord, who had woken up, if Peacock Lord did not hold him down, he might sink some fangs into the guy in rage.
When the victorious party manifested themselves at the exam entrance, a horde of people stormed towards them asking and praising them about their feat. But after Peacock Lord’s group descended down, they had no choice but to retreat quietly.
Heron Lord quickly flashed to Feng Luotian and asked: “My little lord, could you tell me more about the blades you just used on that last clone?”
Not even noticing his own son, the first thing he asked was about the precious items that made him crazy.
“Clan Chief He, shouldn’t you be worried about your son first?”
Feng Luotian beckoned towards He Chen who was lying on the ground in his injured state.
Heron Lord: “Oh? Hey, Mei Clan’s Second Elder!! Isn’t it your job to take care of the injured participants?!” His voice contained some rage when speaking to Mei Hongyi.
“O-Of course. We’ll treat him right away!!”
After receiving an order, Mei Hongyi obediently followed ordering his men in a hurried manner. He was afraid that he would make more mistakes as it was already the hell of a day for him.
Upon seeing that his father had come to watch the exam today, He Chen felt both joyful and ashamed at the same time. He really appreciated that his father came for a useless son like him but his performance was just too poor.
Amongst the descendants of the Four Lords who were at the same age as him, he was the weakest of the four and he was weaker by far. While Ying Lizhua was the greatest genius, Mei Yue’er’s cultivation closely followed the guy. And Sikong Jiu of the Sikong Clan was also at Eight Fangs as well.
In a circumstance like this, he could not help but feel the inferiority. Not to mention that his father was fond of his older brother and sister more than him, this made him feel even more complex inside. However, He Chen knew the reason for what happened around him and also its solution far too well. That was why he did not mind his father’s attention was on the blades than him at the moment as he too could recognize how important the items were to his father.
Nevertheless, He Chen still felt very thankful to Feng Luotian who spoke up for him earlier, so he sent Feng Luotian a sound transmission as their Theríon was still connected: “Thank you so much, Brother Feng!! But I’m okay, so please help my father with what he needs. It’s really fortunate for me to meet you. Without you inviting me, I’d never pass this exam and bring even more shame to my clan.”
Feng Luotian responded in kind: “What’re you saying, Brother He? Without you, we’d never finish that clone off either. You’re amazing in your own way, so don’t push yourself too hard.”
The rest of the party approved his statement in their private chat, except Ying Lizhua of course.
He Chen: “Hehe, thank you, guys. See you later!!”
With that, he was transported to the medical tent prepared by the Alchemy Center staff.

(This story is a work in progress. As the first story that I have ever written, the beginning, especially the first ten chapters or so, needs heavy editing. I have decided to continue writing the story instead of going back and editing the beginning. I hope that despite all its flaws you will still find my story enjoyable.)
