《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 81 : XIU YAO (1)

“I still can’t believe this. Although you can’t fabricate the wisp of conscience under the Tail Realm making this as true as it can be, the First Elder is planning something with the Yin Clan from Silver Fox City? I need to confirm this with Master.”
Because Feng Luotian was an in-law of the Mei Clan for centuries, he thoroughly knew every one of their personalities. Despite the fact that the decree his father made to the world before he left could certainly gave a huge butterfly effect on every people in the city, it should not be able to change their ways of life.
Feng Luotian knew Mei Hongyi from his past life. This guy was easily driven by power and greed, that was why he suspected the Second Elder the most.
The First Elder he knew in the past was a dedicated forger who only strived for creating new and amazing armaments for the world to see and would give the most incredible ones to the people in the clan. There was just no way he would betray the Mei Clan out of his own selfish ambition. It was the reason why he was this shocked when he heard his name being the culprit of the story.
If Feng Luotian confirmed the situation with his master, and the First Elder really happened to be as Huo Zhihao’s wisp of conscience described, then he had to adjust his opinion about everyone around him and view the world differently than before. Those whom he knew in his past life but were strangers to him in this lifetime would have to stay as strangers before he would judge them of what their characters were.
Suddenly, Feng Luotian felt his body was strongly pushed to one side of the cavern’s walls. After being attached to the wall, he found himself unable to move in the slightest, as he glanced down, he realized that the reason he could not move was from the web shot by the queen who was currently tootling and rushing toward him.

While Feng Luotian was still in his stupor, the queen silently crept back to her own lair. Upon seeing the intruder, she shot a web at him, binding him to the wall, and stormed her way to finish him off.
Although the web produced by the Four Talons spider queen was extremely tenacious and hard to break, for Feng Luotian, he only needed to activate the [Underworld Physique]. His multiplying and overwhelming weight would rip it off as simply and easily as tearing a paper.
But what was he waiting for?
Feng Luotian was calmly stalling for the queen to attack. The moment she stabbed her legs or bared her fangs at him would be the time he freed himself from her constriction and rushed toward the exit at his full speed. That way, he would catch the queen off guard and be long gone before she could even turn back.
The spider queen frenziedly crept her way toward him driven by her hunger and anger. She did not have cultivators as her meal for ages, and it pissed her off whenever someone played with her hanging food.
At about one hundred meters away from each other, Feng Luotian became focused and prepared himself for whatever kind of attack the queen was planning to deliver; however, at that moment, a hooded figure flashed and manifested itself in front of Feng Luotian.
Startled for a little bit, the spider queen changed her target to the newcomer. She promptly raised her front leg full of spiky thorns and stabbed aiming at that figure.
Seeing the attack coming, that figure drew a silver sword with their right hand from its scabbard. Perfectly timing with the queen’s jabbing leg, that figure casually parried it away to the side, causing the queen to lose her balance.
Following that, that figure stretched out their left palm directing toward the spider queen, then a young male voice rang: “[Phantom Wind Palm].”
Dark wind swiftly surged from his body and traveling around his arm. Once he accumulated enough force, the wind was launched at the queen, blasting her away until she got flipped with her back upside down.

Taking this time to his advantage, that figure brandished his sword at the web-wrapped Feng Luotian and free him from his immobility, then took him away from the queen’s lair within a split of a second.
Reaching a certain destination, the one who saved Feng Luotian from the spider queen placed him on the ground and entered his own tent.
Feng Luotian let out a small dry laugh at this situation. He did not expect that there would be anyone coming to save him in such a place.
Looking around the guy’s residence, there were not many of the necessaries one would normally have when they lived a life, only a tent and an unlit campfire in front of it, so the guy must have either accidentally or deliberately fallen in here as well.
A moment later, that guy came out of the tent. He already took his hood off, but within this darkness, Feng Luotian still could not see his face clearly. His hand was holding some meat then sat in front of the campfire preparing to light it up. But before he set a fire with a flintstone, he wrapped some cloth around his head covering his eyes. After that, he sparked up the campfire to cook the meat.
At that time, Feng Luotian finally saw the blindfolded countenance of his ‘savior.’ He was a man dressing all black with a slender figure with a youthful appearance, short in height with indigo hair.
And with a focus from his mind, Kronos presented the guy’s info.

“Xiu Yao? My senior brother?”
Feng Luotian was surprised. He would never have thought that the mission his master gave could be found in a place like this. If the situation did not go the way it did, he would never find his senior brother. Not even after he spent years searching everywhere within and outside of the Divine Bird City.
Noticing Feng Luotian’s strange reaction after seeing his face, he turned to Feng Luotian initiated the conversation with a smile: “Come and eat. You must be quite scared just now. And you don’t have to worry about my blindfold as I see better like this when there’s light around. Tell me about your story a bit, alright? Why are you here? How long have you been lost in here? Sensing no cultivation from you, it’s really surprising that you can survive until reaching the queen’s nest, or maybe you have some means to either disguise yourself as one of them or hide your cultivation from me. I guess it’s the latter because the queen wouldn’t attack you if it’s the former. I rushed to the queen’s nest only because I sensed someone activated a Theríon Sonar from there. Right after, at that origin, I sensed another burst of Theríon at Eight Fangs. But before I even reached there, the Theríon just disappeared into thin air. As I followed the queen back to her lair, I found you and save you. It means that you’re the Eight Fangs Fighter who used that Theríon Sonar. You’re quite formidable, aren’t you, to be able to hide your cultivation so deeply that I can’t sense a single ripple of Theríon from you. Tell me who your master is. If you still don’t have a master, I will recommend you to be a disciple of my master. What do you think? I think it’ll be great if I can have someone as formidable as you to be my junior brother. Man, …”
If Feng Luotian did not raise his hand signaling Xiu Yao to stop talking, then he would have to listen for a whole night before he had a chance to respond.

MeiQ: Lore of the Labyrinth
Omaros City lays near one of several Yggdrasil trees that are scattered around the world. Each tree holds an entire labyrinthine ecosystem within or beneath it, yet the mysteries of their origins and what lays in their depths are only ever unraveled by the most skilled and courageous of explorers. Exploration of Omaros' Yggdrasil labyrinth is still in its fledgling stages, drawing in many with the allure of fame and glory that has yet to be claimed. Enter the harbinger Dubhan—cheerful, determined, and not terribly skilled at thinking ahead—and warlock Allouet— intelligent and resourceful, but desperately in over his head. Together, the two of them have half an idea of what they're doing at best, but that's not going to stop them from aiming for the labyrinth's unknown depths. MeiQ is, at its core, a fanfiction inspired by the Etrian Odyssey franchise, alternatively known as Sekaiju no Meikyuu in Japan. Despite that, it is written with the intent to be enjoyable by those unfamiliar with the series as well. The characters and the city of Omaros are original, while the story draws upon lore and recurring concepts from the game series. However, Etrian Odyssey is known for its lore being sparse and open to speculation, so much of the details provided in this story are exactly that—a fan’s speculation and personal expansion of the lore. This story was also inspired by and written as part of HereBeTreasure's Fast Food Frontpage Competition, enjoy some simple dungeon exploration plot and whatever else pops up from this.
