《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 101 – Distribute the Skills

Feng Luotian taught the rest of the team how to use their own speed to trump the slower opponents and to get around the quicker enemies. He even explained how they should train their minds to improve their reaction speed.
Two hours had passed and Feng Luotian had already said what he intended to share today regarding speed, his friends’ eyes were glittering in wonder, not expecting to learn many new things today and from their big brother no less.
Feng Luotian moved on to the next topic: Skills.
Since he could not use the skills that he had learned in his past life, then the only use for that knowledge was to share amongst his trusted companions.
Feng Luotian announced: “First, Yue’er! I will give a unique illusion skill.”
“U-U-Unique-rank skill?!” Mei Yue’er quickly stood up and exclaimed in shock. Of course, the rest also widened their eyes dumbfounded.
Although Feng Luotian was unperturbed by getting his own legendary skill from the get-go as he owned numerous legendary skills in the past, it did not mean that such skills were common on this planet.
In Divine Bird City, the highest skill rank was a rare skill. A unique skill was akin to many legends that were only heard but never seen before, hence their current reactions.
He could also give out the legendary skills, but there was no legendary skill that could be used at Fang Realm. That was the reason why he did not bother to mention it.
Feng Luotian flatly said: “Yue’er, stop making a fuss about everything I said. It’s just a unique skill.”
Mei Yue’er calmed herself down, then sat down with a blushed complexion when she realized that she embarrassed herself with the reaction just now. Even so, she could not help but think: “Just a unique skill?! Do you even know how valuable it is and how many people will kill for it if it is made public?!”
Feng Luotian commenced the explanation about the skill: “Because you cannot use [Body Replacement] with your illusion clone, this unique illusion skill [Mirror Facsimile] will allow you to trick your opponent’s sensing ability. At its first level, after you activate the skill, your opponent will sense every clone’s cultivation level becoming the same level as you, so you can spam as many weak clones as you like, and no one can tell which one is real. After getting into its higher level, you can even create a clone with cultivation seeming to be much stronger than you to scare some experts running with their tails between their legs, and many more other features you cannot imagine.”

With that, Feng Luotian gave Mei Yue’er a wisp containing the skill information, then further added: “Other than this skill, you need to practice how to feign your [Aurora Treading Step] as well. You should know it by now that it is pretty obvious where you would be appearing after you activate the skill.”
After acknowledging Feng Luotian’s ability, knowledge, and experience, Mei Yue’er had no choice but to nod obediently.
“Next, Sister Tu. I will …”
Before he could say more, Tu Lingxi held out her hand to stop his speech: “Please call me Lingxi. Being called Sister Tu by Big Brother Feng feels like we’re strangers.”
Feng Luotian readdressed her and continued with his agenda: “Okay. Next, Lingxi. I will give you a rare petal controlling skill [Silver Garden]. For a certain period of time, the skill will grant you the ability to control petals, giving you the freedom to launch your attack. Without this skill, you will have to pay attention to where the petal will be falling or breezing in the wind. At its higher level, the skill can sharpen the petals in the process, so you may also use them like flying needles to attack your opponent. However, there is a limit to how many petals you can control at once depending on the skill’s level. At its grand completion, you will be able to control tens of thousands of petals and each petal’s attacking prowess will be no different than a sword. Depending on how you will master the skill, you might be able to create a blade storm powerful enough to destroy a whole city in one go.”
“Woah!!” Tu Lingxi exclaimed in excitement after receiving the skill from Feng Luotian.
Mei Yue’er inwardly complained: “Why am I feeling that the skill Junior Sister Tu got is much stronger than the one I got?”
Noticing a cold needle stabbing toward him from Mei Yue’er’s gaze, Feng Luotian promptly responded: “You don’t have to worry about the grandness of your skill. It’s a unique skill, one level above a rare skill, so it’s certainly much stronger than the one I gave Lingxi. You just have to train the skill until its grand completion.”
Mei Yue’er did not answer. She just folded her arms and turned her eyes away, not bothering with the rest any longer.
Feng Luotian chucklingly shook his head and turned to He Chen, pinching a white light in his finger: “Brother He, this is also a rare skill. Its name is [Diffusion Blade]. It is a weapon augmenting skill. Because I see you like to use a rapier, so I’m giving this skill to you. Once you covered your rapier with this skill, within 30 seconds, every attack hit will steal Theríon from your opponent and also decrease their movement speed. And the amount of Theríon you can steal will be that of percentage proportionated with the maximum Theríon of your opponent. That means you will gain more Theríon from enemies with greater Theríon cap, so you will have more advantages over the stronger cultivator than others. Furthermore, during these 30 seconds, the stealing amount will increase each time your attack hits its target. The more you strike, the more Theríon you steal. Coupling with your ability [Piercing Focus], your damage will also increase each time you hit and steal some Theríon, making the skill very compatible with your ability.”

Receiving the skill with trembling hands, He Chen quickly put it into his head and closed his eyes. Once he reopened them, a profound light flashed across them, before he expressed his greatest gratitude by repeatedly bowing to Feng Luotian, who immediately stopped He Chen from being too emotional.
Feng Luotian then switched to Sun Wuji, who was eagerly waiting for this moment while rubbing his hands like a greedy merchant.
Feng Luotian gave out a gentle smile before he padded his hand on Sun Wuji’s shoulder and pinched a wisp out of his glabella: “Lastly, Brother Sun. I will grandiosely impart this skill to you as this is the most common rank - a normal skill!!”
“!!” Sun Wuji’s rubbing hands froze in an instant.
“Pfft! Hahaha!” Mei Yue’er, who intended to sit quietly through the event, could not help but burst out in laughter.
Tu Lingxi and He Chen turned away, covering their mouth with their hand and trying their hardest not to laugh out loud.
Looking at Feng Luotian with unamused droopy eyes, Sun Wuji said: “Brother Feng, ah! I know you just wanted to tell a joke before Sister Mei to alleviate her sulking condition. Now, you already achieved what you wanted to do, so just give me the actual skill that I can use to impress everyone.”
Feng Luotian held out his hand with the wisp: “This is really the skill I will give you! I’m serious!!”
Mei Yue’er already tapped the table multiple times while holding in her laughter because this started to give her stomach some pain and cramp. The same went for both Tu Lingxi and He Chen.
With the same expression as before, Sun Wuji complained: “This is not funny, Brother Feng. How can you give them unique and rare skills, while I get only a normal skill?”
Feng Luotian turned serious and looked into his brother’s eyes: “Although this skill is at a normal rank, the lowest one of all ranks, it is the most compatible skill for you with the lowest cost of Theríon. I may have higher-rank skills that are also compatible with your bloodline ability, but they cannot be used before reaching a higher realm in cultivation, so this is the best one I have for you.”
Sun Wuji remained silent, still not convinced.
“At least you should know that a normal compatible skill is stronger than a unique incompatible skill, right? What use will it be if I give you a sword skill, while you don’t know how to use a sword? You will have to start training the way of the sword before practicing the skill. That will be a damn waste of time!”
Seeing the solemn light in Feng Luotian’s eyes, Sun Wuji finally gave in and grabbed the wisp of conscience with skill information: “Fine! What does this skill do then that you claim to be super compatible with me?”
Feng Luotian mysteriously smiled: “Why don’t you take a look yourself? As for its description, I’ll save for you to surprise others in the future with this skill.”
Still thinking that his brother was playing with him, Sun Wuji scoffed: “Hmph! Let’s see what you are planning!” He then put the skill into his mind, closing his eyes to see its content.
A few seconds later, Sun Wuji instantly reopened his eyes and turned to Feng Luotian with an electrifying expression.
Feng Luotian: “How was it? It’s good, right?”
Sun Wuji clicked his tongue: “Che! Well, I admit that I was wrong for doubting you, Brother Feng.”
The change in his attitude made everyone else in the room curious about what normal skill could subdue Sun Wuji to an extent, but no matter how hard they tried to pry into this secret, Sun Wuji refused to talk about it.
After that, they had their dinner together before separating to do their own training.

What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
