Swallowing once, Lian Fu extended her hand, trying to gently touch the treasure she had never seen even once in her whole life.

Feng Luotian chuckled at her reaction toward the spider queen’s heart: “If you are not going to store it away, somebody might steal it before you can make a move.”

When Feng Luotian’s warning snapped her back to reality, Lian Fu put away the heart at lightning speed.

Feng Luotian did not worry one bit about Lian Fu going back on her words. He had interacted and dealt business with Lian Fu before, so he knew how she conducted herself. Even though his father’s terrifying butterfly effect might cause her to change, from what Feng Luotian had monitored the conversation up until now, Lian Fu’s characteristics had been the same as before.

After storing the treasure, Lian Fu retrieved her Feather Badge and tossed it to Feng Luotian, who casually caught it: “There is no need to ask how you know that I am one of the Ten Feathers because you seem to know everything. Just so you know, even though I am the Fourth Feather, it does not mean that every one of the Ten Feathers is notable and well-known, especially for the new disciples who entered only a week ago.”

Feng Luotian cupped his hands: “Thank you for not asking and for this badge. I will be going inside now. You can wait here or continue picking some alchemy books as you did previously. I will return within an hour.” With that, he quickly got back to the information desk to talk with the female officer from before, leaving Lian Fu standing there speechless.

After a couple of moments, a smile lacquered her face while mumbling: “What a mysterious young man you are, God’s Son!” Lian Fu slowly went back to the Peacock Library’s alchemy section to continue her previous work.

Feng Luotian noticed the female officer and an older man with the same uniform at the information desk.

Once the female officer saw Feng Luotian coming, she whispered to the old man: “It’s him, Head Librarian.”

The head librarian switched his attention to the young man and solemnly said: “So, it is you who are trying to enter the second floor without the Feather Badge, brat! Don’t you know that you cannot disregard the rules no matter how many contribution points you have or who you …!! GOD’S SON?!”

The more he spoke, the clearer he recognized who the young man was. After the head librarian realized that Feng Luotian tried to bargain with them, he was stunned by overwhelming emotion. The head librarian happened to be the real fan of Feng Luotian’s father, the God.

He turned to the female officer and harshly rebuked: “Why didn’t you tell me sooner that it was God’s Son who came, you ignorant little rascal?”

“Eh?” The female officer was also baffled at the head librarian’s reaction. It was right for her to be reprimanded by her boss because practically no one in the entire city did not recognize Feng Luotian, all the more after Feng Luotian’s debut at the entrance exam and the uproar he caused in the west. Only the completely clueless individuals like Xiu Yao could not tell who he was at first glance.

The head librarian swiftly shifted to Feng Luotian, now with a gentle voice, he spoke: “I am sorry for my previous rudeness. I have received the request detail that you would like to visit the second floor. Is it right, God’s Son?”

Feng Luotian nodded while chuckling inside from the 180 degrees turn of the old man’s attitude: “Yes, Head Librarian. I want to go and pick some skill books on the second floor.”

The head librarian slightly bowed: “I must deeply apologize for refusing your entry. Even though I like to give access to someone of your caliber, the rules are still there. The Peacock Lord himself set the rules here. So, if you wish to go to the second floor, you have to become one of the Ten Feathers first and come here again with your Feather Badge.”

Feng Luotian smiled and showed a silver badge with a ten-feather symbol along with the number “4” inscribed at the middle of it: “I have the Feather Badge. Can I go to the second floor now?”

“This…” Both the head librarian and the female officer were speechless. The head librarian could not help but ask: “I know that you just entered the Peacock School, and not yet one of the Ten Feathers. How did you get it?”

Feng Luotian casually answered: “Let’s just say that I managed to convince some Feather to lend me this for an hour.”

Although the head librarian was still curious as to how Feng Luotian got ahold of a Feather Badge, the fourth rank no less, because Feng Luotian did not want to divulge it, he would not pry into it any further: “Okay. I understand. There is no point arguing because you have not broken any rules here. Please follow me to the second floor.”

The head librarian then took Feng Luotian upstairs, leaving the female officer standing there in the daze, with no idea of what to do next.

After arriving on the second floor, the head librarian retrieved a unique key from his pocket and opened the door that would lead to the entire section on the second floor.

He turned around and said: “I will leave you by yourself then, God’s Son. I must remind you one thing that the items on this floor are costly. If you decide on which skill books you wish to borrow, bring them down to the information desk to finish the borrowing process. Although you have more than five hundred thousand contribution points, you will be able to take one or two top records at most.”

Feng Luotian nodded with a smile: “I understand. Thank you, Head Librarian.”

“Take your time, God’s Son. I will be in my office in the meantime. If you have any more requests, don’t hesitate to contact that girl to come and call me.”

“Thank you for your support again, Head Librarian.”

With that, Feng Luotian went inside and began his rapid exploration to see if there were any skills that he could use to fill in his lack of skill variety.

The most precious skill books were located at the very end of the skill section on the second floor, albeit only limited to Rare-ranked skills.

Feng Luotian’s eyes quickly scanned across a dozen of skill names and finally paused at three books as he softly murmured: “I did not expect that there will be a rare skill set here, much less three of them at once.”

Skill sets differed from ordinary skills. They contained at least two skills within the skill sets. Using one of the skills could increase the skill proficiency of the skill set as a whole. Of course, the skill proficiency required to upgrade to the next level would be far more than usual. Nevertheless, each skill within the skill set was usually synchronized, making them more effective against one’s enemies.

The skill set’s description listed beside each book was as follows.

Ranger of Wind – Rare Skill Set [182,000 contribution points]

Whirlwind Armor (Requirement: Fang Realm) – Wrap the user’s entire body with the whirlwind, increasing movement speed and decreasing the accuracy of the incoming range attacks. Ferocious Gale (Requirement: Talon Realm) – Create a mighty wind that pushes and damages any object away from the user in a specific area of effect. Tempest Shot (Requirement: Talon Realm, Weapon Requirement: Bow) – Augment the arrow with the wind, multiplying its damage and area of effect.

Apparition of Ice – Rare Skill Set [219,000 contribution points]

Chilling Touch (Requirement: Fang Realm) – Imbue the user’s next attack with the ice attribute, causing more damage to the target and slowing their movement speed and casting speed in the process. Ice Imprisonment (Requirement: Talon Realm) – Trap the target within the ice, preventing the target from using their ability and skill for a certain period. Glacial Blast (Requirement: Wing Realm) – Form a sphere of extreme ice and hurl it at the target. A successful hit can instantly shatter a cultivator with one level above the user to a thousand pieces of ice.

Jeremiad of Chaos – Rare Skill Set [245,000 contribution points]

Purification (Requirement: Fang Realm) – Instantly heal an injury of the target for a certain amount and transform that amount to shockwave damage around the target. Protective Charm (Requirement: Talon Realm) – Creates a light barrier around the target, increasing their Theríon damage resistance and Health regeneration rate for a certain period. Guardian Blessing (Requirement: Wing Realm) – Grant a 100% immune to physical damage for a certain period for a certain number of targets.

Feng Luotian deeply fell into contemplation:

“I want all of these three skill sets, but I don’t have enough contribution points to obtain them all.”

“The first one, [Ranger of Wind], is practically a life-saving skill set, working best when running away. Not to mention that there is also an arrow skill. I have already ordered a Demirium bow and nine Titanium arrows, so the [Tempest Shot] can drastically give these weapons a hell lot of damage boost.”

“The second skill set, [Apparition of Ice], is also critical, considering I have to deal with those sparrows in a high-speed fight. Getting one or two disabling skills will help me at that time. Although [Glacial Blast] sounds quite strong, it will take me a while before I can reach Wing Realm.”

“Lastly, [Jeremiad of Chaos], this is also a life-saving skill set and can be very useful in group battle as well. [Protective Charm] will be essential when I have to face Brother Wei in battle. That innate skill of his bloodline when he reached Talon Realm will prove to be super troublesome if I do not have a Theríon damage resistance skill up in my sleeve. As I remember, the Yin Clan also has a lot of skills with serious Theríon damage. It is necessary to learn this [Jeremiad of Chaos] skill set before we go all the way with them.”

There were two main types of damages in this cultivation world.

One was the physical damage, which was the damage dealt using the raw strength of the cultivator’s body or weapon without applying any Theríon on it. Also, when the cultivator used a skill or an ability to increase their body or weapon’s core strength without augmenting it with Theríon, the damage could still be considered the physical damage because, in the end, there was no Theríon involved in such an attack.

Another one was the Theríon damage. Anything but physical damage was considered Theríon damage. The simple way to differentiate between the two was that the Theríon damage was normally elemental while the physical damage was not.

“Sigh, I don’t know what to choose.” Repeatedly tapping his chin with his finger, Feng Luotian ran a thousand battle scenarios within his mind, picturing himself using these skill sets against a hundred kinds of foes. Furthermore, he had to consider which opponents he would fight first in the current situation.

Eventually, the tapping finger stopped, signaling that his consideration had come to an end.
