《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 115 – Onmyō Heron

“WOAH!!”
Everyone was flabbergasted by Feng Luotian’s aura.
When Feng Luotian was doing his things as he was ‘training’ during battles, he activated and deactivated the skills instantly, causing the aura that seeped from his body to be entirely negligible.
Most of them learned that Feng Luotian was an Eight Fangs Fighter from the incident at the Peacock Garden. Only his friends knew that Feng Luotian was already Ning Fangs in these past two weeks.
Now, though, Feng Luotian unleashed the aura of a Ten Fangs Fighter, driving everyone nuts with his cultivation speed. Not one person on the central platform could sit still after sensing his strength. A proud smile plastered both Peacock Lord and Supreme Elder while a shocked expression lacquered First Elder and Second Elder.
By the way, Second Elder was only here for one day, and he would be taken back to his own quarter to continue his confinement after the competition was over. It was a special occasion and benevolence that Peacock Lord allowed him to go outside during his punishment.
Second Elder’s complexion turned grave. He did not expect Feng Luotian to increase his cultivation this fast. Now, even though his proudest disciple, Mo Qianqing, had already reached Two Talons, his disciple would not be able to hold a candle to Feng Luotian. That was why he had to think of a way to help his disciple.
Amongst every participant, the one with the minor shock was He Chen, who was about to fight Feng Luotian: “As expected from my idol, I knew that you would become Ten Fangs the moment you said that you were training using the formation here.”
Feng Luotian was about to say something to He Chen, but Kronos’s notification froze him from doing so.

Negative Buff
Mana Crucifixion (Rare) Level 3
Within ten minutes, if the target moves from the original position, the target will lose 3% of its maximum Theríon per decimeter, and the user will gain that Theríon.
====================
“This!! Brother He, when did you …?”
He Chen smiled: “As I said, you are my idol. And it’s obvious that a fan would study his idol thoroughly. Brother Feng will always start off with the activation skill in every serious fight. You had two activation skills before, but when I took a careful look, you now have another wind-type activation skill. With my little speech, you must have wanted to show me that you are serious, so you activated all three skills. Every one of your activation skills always produces a loud boom. Three of them together should have been enough for me to cast a spell without you noticing.”

“More than that, since you are my idol, I made it my life goal to surpass you one day. That’s why when Father came to offer rare-ranked skills after the entrance exam, I mainly picked the targeting skills where there is no projectile involved, and the skills will always hit as long as I cast it. Why? Because with your speed and your all-seeing eyes, I will have no hope of hitting you with a projectile skill. Except for the only downside of the targeting skills by having a long casting time, where one needed to prepare the skill for a couple of seconds, and if interfered, the skill would be canceled, and the user would lose Theríon for nothing, this [Mana Crucifixion] happened to be the best compatible targeting skill for me. How about it, Brother Feng? Surprised?”
Feng Luotian could not help but smile: “Yeah, I am surprised. You have hidden your abilities quite well. You must have ….”
He Chen held out his hand: “This is not the end of it, though.” He turned to First Elder and asked: “First Elder, you did not mention anything about not allowing us to use items in the fight. Does that mean I can use everything in my reserve against my opponent?”
First Elder nodded: “Yes. You may use pills, formations, or armaments. There is no limit to the level of those items as well. If you have a Titanium weapon, then feel free to use it.”
A clamoring noise descended as the crowd discussed and complained. One of the disciples said: “Isn’t this unfair, First Elder? The richer you are, the more treasures you have. If that’s the case, then wouldn’t we certainly lose to those guys?”
First Elder coldly harrumphed: “Life is unfair from the very beginning. Do you expect your enemies to throw their own weapons away to match your levels in the real battle? Also, the elders here are not stupid. They can tell the difference between talents and treasures. Or do you intend to say that we are all idiots?!”
Realizing his mistake, the one asking along with the crowd bowed their heads in shame.
He Chen cupped his hands: “Thank you, First Elder.” He retrieved five talismans of different colors, held them before him, and shouted: “Activate!”
All talismans flashed and disappeared into light particles. Five different auras surged from He Chen’s body with a low rumbling sound and covered him entirely.
He Chen said to Feng Luotian: “Now, every Theríon I obtain will increase my attack, defense, movement speed, reaction speed, and health regeneration.”

Feng Luotian let out a surprised laugh: “I didn’t know you had chosen a path of Onmyō. Actually, I didn’t expect to see one here in this city.” In reality, he did not expect to see one in this world either, as it was the path originating from another world.
Thinking back to the Wight Wolf incident, those twins from the Sikong Clan must have also used a talisman to recover and strengthen the monster after Sun Wuji and Mei Yue’er took it down. If a random master in the Peacock School had a book regarding the Onmyō, then it was not so strange that those twins would have it too.
The path of Onmyō was similar to drawing a formation. While formations were magic circles drawn on all physical objects and activated to strengthen the objects or those around them, Onmyō focused on drawing magic symbols on a piece of paper, together called a talisman. And the effect of talismans was like a targeting skill. After being activated, the effect would befall on whatever the user decided to target without calculating and aiming to hit them successfully.
If those twins used a formation to recover and strengthen the Wight Wolf, then there must be some sort of object being thrown at the monster. But there was no such a thing, so Feng Luotian guessed that those two must also be Onmyō practitioners.
He Chen was surprised: “To think that you also know about the path of Onmyō. Is there anything you don’t know, Brother Feng? Yes, I have chosen the path of Onmyō because I stumbled upon a book in my master’s study room. I didn’t care about it at first, but after trying one or two things, I realized that I have a talent for it. Hence, I continue training it when I got back from cultivation.”
Feng Luotian: “I admit that you almost make me speechless. I really hope that your father can come and look at you today. He will be very proud. Just look at your brother and sister. They have not closed their mouth since the beginning of your amazing performance.”
He Chen smiled, then his gaze turned serious: “Thank you, Brother Feng. Let’s see if I can make you move from that spot.”
Feng Luotian laughed: “Hahaha! Come! Let’s fight, Brother He!”
After that, no more words were uttered between the two.
He Chen took out ten [Theríon Restoration Pills] and threw them in his mouth.
While [Theríon Recovery Pills] could increase Theríon regeneration rate, [Theríon Restoration Pills] could restore Theríon instantly, making the latter more precious than the former.
Upon swallowing the pills, He Chen’s aura burst out even more frenzy than before. With the buff effect of those talismans he used, he now held the force that could overpower those with much higher levels than him.
With another touch on his spatial ring, He Chen summoned a massive boulder with a house size and hurled it at his opponent.
Feng Luotian could either move out of the way or take the full brunt of the attack. Of course, he chose the latter choice.
With the deadly effect of [Mana Crucifixion], moving only three meters and some more would cost Feng Luotian all of his Theríon. And without any Theríon, he had no chance against He Chen even if his cultivation was three levels above.
Facing the boulder, Feng Luotian readied his punch and launched at it in perfect timing, breaking it into thousands of pieces.
Getting a clear look at his opponent after Feng Luotian’s sight was being blocked by the boulder, he saw He Chen holding his rapier in front of him, already conjuring his energy into his weapon and preparing his ultimate attack while Feng Luotian was busy himself with the boulder.
“[Divine Rapier].” With a soft murmur, He Chen catapulted himself together with his weapon, charging straight for Feng Luotian.
The arena rumbled at the overwhelming force from He Chen’s skill. If it were this attack together with the Theríon from everyone in his fifty-men party instead that landed on that Three Talons clone from the entrance exam, it would undoubtedly reduce to a particle of light after this one strike.
A whooshing sound was heard as the air was torn apart by He Chen and his weapon. Feng Luotian saw a clear line of blue light through his [Momentum Eyes], cackling in his mind: “He has grown so much, but the boy is still naïve.”
Feng Luotian turned 90 degrees by moving one of his legs backward, still in his original position. The rapier grazed a couple of hairs on his clothes without touching any part of his body. Feng Luotian then raised his hand at a lightning-fast speed and made a ruthless hand chop at He Chen’s back neck, sending the guy to bury deep into the ground with a thunderous boom.

Humans Must Adapt!
Humans Must Adapt is a First Person point of view from the eyes of slightly crazy and totally not a masochist MC. The setting takes place on a copy of earth with a different name. A cataclysmic event causes the native humans to be usurped from their natural place at the top of the food chain. Time has now passed, and the Humans have managed to settle themselves into mediocrity. But this is not enough.Note: I don't plan on including sexual content. The MC won't have an end game goal right from the start. Feedback is welcomed. The MC is a Tamer.
