《Light of Returning Darkness》CH 118 – The Han Brothers

Ever since Feng Luotian instructed Sun Wuji to raise his speed, he had only been doing that for the past few weeks. Now, after sacrificing half of his speed to triple his offensive and defensive capabilities, Sun Wuji was still able to catch up with any opponents with a normal velocity.
After activating [Spear of Earth], Sun Wuji’s other arm turned into a sharp stony stake and directly plunged into Mo Chen’s chest, sending him outside in one move.
At Area 5, Mei Yue’er was facing Han Wen on the stage.
Han Wen cupped his hand and slightly bowed: “I’m honored to have a chance to fight you, Goddess Mei. Please give me some pointers.”
Mei Yue’er only nodded in response.
Feng Luotian glanced from Arena 1’s waiting area, curious about the bloodline of this Han Wen.
====================
Name: Han Wen
Level: Seven Fangs
Bloodline: Autumn Willow Blackbird
Bloodline Ability: Untouchable Willow
When the user is melee-attacked, its attacker’s overall attacking speed will be greatly reduced by a certain period of time.
====================
Feng Luotian smiled and murmured: “This guy’s bloodline ability is really tricky for anyone who doesn’t know about it. Yue’er, if you don’t finish him in one move, you will lose this fight even with higher cultivation. However, since they are in the same arena, Yue’er may already catch something from his previous fight.”
Exactly like Feng Luotian anticipated, Mei Yue’er had been paying attention to any fight that had its contestant with the cultivation of Seven Fangs and upper. She had always been a serious type of person. When she committed to it, there was no one who could drag her away from it.
Mei Yue’er retrieved her sword, thinking: “In all of his previous battles, he always charged at his opponents to engage in close combat. But what’s strange was he did not attack. Instead, he let them attack him first before gaining the upper hand in an instant. Right after attacking him, they seemed to be slower. That means attacking will lower my speed. I don’t know whether it was the reaction speed and the attacking speed that was affected. But, anyway, if attacking him means falling into his trap, then I must think of another way to win this fight. There is no way his bloodline ability is omnipotent. Every bloodline has a flaw to it. Even the direct descendants of the divine beasts have it, much less someone in this era. Right! He always wanted to be attacked in melee, so his ability probably does not work with ranged attacks. Let’s test the theory, then.”

Like in his previous fights, Han Wen flashed and quickly approached Mei Yue’er at breakneck speed. After that, he swung his punch in a way that left many openings to retaliate. If it were any other participant, they would react and attack him already.
However, Mei Yue’er swiftly retreated and distanced herself from Han Wen. Channeling Theríon into her sword while stealthily taking out her secret weapon: a hairpin, she then cast [Aurora Treading Step] connecting two places to teleport. Right before the teleportation, with the minimum Theríon to activate the skill, she released [Aurora Slash] from her sword toward Han Wen.
Han Wen promptly dodged the beaming slash but was not able to avoid the hidden attack from Mei Yue’er when she warped herself to Han Wen’s blind spot and covertly shot her hairpin at him.
While the damage done from the hairpin was negligible, to say the least, that was not the main objective of this attack. After the hairpin hit, Mei Yue’er quickly checked her speed by swinging the sword and moving around: “As I thought, his bloodline ability does not work on the ranged attack.”
Han Wen pulled the hairpin that was pricking into his skin. With a smile, he said: “Never would I expect the Goddess such as you would pay attention to my fight this much. Since you refused to attack the way I want, then I have no choice but to make you.”
Han Wen advanced toward Mei Yue’er the same way as before. This time, even though Mei Yue’er tried to break away from Han Wen as soon as possible, for some reason, she could not retreat. Instead, her body moved on its own and punched at Han Wen’s chest three times before she regained control over her body. And the force putting into those punches was as weak as the one used to play with their children. Nevertheless, the effect was still applied.
After Mei Yue’er pulled back and steadied herself, she tried to unleash another [Aurora Slash]. However, the speed at which she could release the slash had been reduced until it was only one-third of her normal attacking speed. Mei Yue’er could not help but curse in her mind: “Damn it!”
While Mei Yue’er’s expression turned unsightly, Han Wen smiled: “That should conclude this battle, right, Goddess Mei? Why don’t you surrender now? I don’t want to hurt a beauty, much less someone as beautiful as you.”
“Hmph!” Mei Yue’er only scoffed at the comment. She would not concede the match even if she were dead. Also, there were still many methods to ‘attack’ without being affected by his ability.

After formulating the plan, Mei Yue’er turned serious.
Han Wen could only shake his head in his opponent’s stubbornness: “Okay, Goddess Mei. I’ll finish this myself.”
However, before Han Wen could move, he froze when he saw what had transpired in front of him. Thousands of clones were standing before him with the cultivation of Nine Fangs.
According to what Han Wen had researched before this Feather Ranking Competition, Mei Clan’s bloodline ability was supposed to create a clone with much lower levels than the original, but what he was seeing proved everything he had researched so far useless.
Not only was Han Wen shocked by Mei Yue’er’s clones, but every member of the Mei Clan was also flabbergasted by them.
Even the Peacock Lord looked at his father, the Supreme Elder, for an answer. The Supreme Elder himself could not sit still after witnessing something like this. He furrowed his white brows to the extreme, trying to evaluate the situation: “There is no way Yue’er could activate thousands of [Illusion Clones] with the same level as herself. The only explanation would be she has the skill that could fool our sense of her clones. However, that kind of illusion skill is beyond our knowledge. Where did she get something like that?”
Mei Yue’er, along with her thousand clones, stormed toward Han Wen. The guy started to panic. He did not know if those clones were really Nine Fangs or not, so rather than braving the horde of beauties, he chose to flee. However, since Mei Yue’er’s speed was much faster than Han Wen and also did not decrease by the [Untouchable Willow] effect, the first clone that reached him pranced itself to embrace Han Wen. It was an act of ‘affection,’ so the effect probably did not consider this prance an attack. That was why the prancing speed did not slow down in the slightest. One clone after another piled up on top of Han Wen. After a minute, there was a mountain of beauties on the stage of Arena 5.
Looking from another perspective, most of the male participants were envious of Han Wen’s predicament. He had received ‘love’ from not just one but thousands of goddesses. At the same time, Han Wen himself was both suffering and enjoying this situation. His face was red, and he started bleeding from his nose.
The female disciples, who were interested in Han Wen because he dominated his opponents for several rounds straight, currently thought of him as a pathetic man.
About a hundred meters away from the mountain, the real Mei Yue’er poured every last bit of her Theríon into the sword. Even under the attacking speed reduction effect, Mei Yue’er had a lot of time to prepare because her opponent did not seem to mind waiting for her to attack.
At first, she thought that Han Wen would struggle as hard as he could to free himself from this restriction. Never did she expect that the guy did not even try to escape at all.
Mei Yue’er then unleashed her ultimate [Aurora Slash] toward Han Wen in half, ending his daydream in an instant.
After ending the battle and seeing that Tu Lingxi was about to face Han Qing on Arena 6, Mei Yue’er secretly sent a wisp of conscience to Tu Lingxi about the Han Family’s bloodline ability.
Later, Tu Lingxi escaped to the air as soon as the match started. She used her new skill [Silver Garden] to sharpen and control her petals to finish Han Qing off without landing any melee attack on him, making the battle her eighteenth win.
Back to Arena 3, Ying Lizhua openly allowed Mo Guo to use his [Muscle Burst] and [Muscle Bazooka] on him without raising any defensive measures. However, after Mo Guo failed to kill his opponent, Ying Lizhua retrieved his sword and simply cut the guy’s head off. Mo Guo even used his defensive treasure, but Ying Lizhua’s damage output after being attacked was overpowering that treasure by far.
At the final round of Arena 1, the only participants without any defeat were Feng Luotian and Wei Ci, two Head Grabbing Demons themselves. Even the former Feathers in this group fell victim to these demons. They had no hope to fight them in the slightest.
Now, these demons were about to fight one another.
Feng Luotian stood on one side while Wei Ci and his clones stood on the opposite side of the stage.
They both cupped their hands to show their courtesies.
Feng Luotian smiled and said: “Is there something you want to say before we begin, Brother Wei?”
Wei Ci merely chuckled: “Not at all, Brother Feng. Just wonder whether this fight will result in quick death or something else entirely.”
