XG 47 - The husband of her five-star potential investor
Wong Xue Guo finally found out that the boy, named Kiat, was the woman’s son.
Kiat was wary of everyone and stuck to his mother’s side protectively as if someone would suddenly attack his mother. Judging from how constant he gazed at Charles Wong, everyone knew he assumed the older man was the most dangerous one in the house.
It was Noodle that managed to scout the information and happily shared it with Wong Xue Guo when she looked interested.
She feels pity for the boy that struggled to protect his mother that was shunned by their neighbors. Because she was stuck in her visions and often stopping midway even when crossing the road, she was often called the crazy woman by others. With her crippled state that could barely do anything, it was Kiat alone that struggled to find food for himself and his mother.
Wong Xue Guo and Chen Yibo silently came into an agreement and slipped some of their food to Kiat. Seeing their actions, Noodle followed along, very different from his seniors and Charles’s gang that barely paid attention to the mother and son.
After their meal was digested, Wong Xue Guo was pulled away by Kang Xunsu to start learning how to use her sword. She had carried the sword around her for a little more than one day but could not, with a clear conscience, say she got used to the weight. But she had at least learned to walk properly with the sword resting against her hip.
“Swing the sword a hundred times.”
If Saitama could do it, she would have no reason to be unable to do it! But of course, a mere mortal like her could never be compared to Saitama sensei. She does not believe doing a hundred punches every day, even at the cost of losing hair, would suddenly become a ‘one punch’ man that easily!
“Can I join the training?” Chen Yibo suddenly requested.
For the first time, she noticed the tacky silver sword he was holding. “You got a sword too?”
“I found it among the weapons Mrs. Wong had hidden. I’ve asked Mr. Wong and he gave me permission to use it.”
“Join in then.” Kang Xunsu does not mind overseeing one more person’s training. It could also help to make the little princess more competitive and improve herself faster.
It was time that Wong Xue Guo was lacking now.
Predictably, Chen Yibo was the first to finish the exercise and was allowed to rest while she struggled to finish it. By the time she finished a hundred swings, her arms were throbbing fiercely and her back was sweating heavily. It was a struggle to continue holding the sword, so she rested the tip on the ground while still maintaining the illusion that she was still holding it well.

If she knew beforehand, she would not have bothered taking a shower earlier!
“Good job princess! You’ve done it! I thought you would give up before finishing,” Kang Xunsu admitted and smiled cheekily at her tired glare. “From today onwards, you have to do 100 swings every day. Tomorrow, I will add a new exercise!”
Wong Xue Guo wanted to wipe off that smirk from his face but alas, she was helpless.
They had stopped training right before dinner and she looked forward to replenishing her energy. But before she could do so, they were suddenly notified they had an unexpected guest.
Lok Hui Man gave Wong Xue Guo a friendly smile as she lifted a plastic bag filled with food. “Good evening, Xue Guo. It's just the right time for dinner, so I brought some food along the way."
Wong Xue Guo: ‘…’ She had not learned what to do in this situation!
If only she was allowed to be rude and dismissive, she would not need to crack open her mind to think about how to keep this potential ally in a happy mood.
With a bright smile, Wong Xue Guo invited her in. “You do not have to be so generous, Madam Lok. Doing this would make us feel troubled. What would we do if other people think too much about your generosity?”
Wong Xue Guo: Where’s her father?!
Lok Hui Man smiled consolingly. “Don't worry, no one would make trouble for you. I’m also doing this willingly to have a good relationship with you.”
Wong Xue Guo: But I’m unwilling ah.
Wong Xue Guo was surprised at the other woman’s honesty in admitting she was currying favor, even if it was to the wrong tree. Even so, she still had to treat the guest properly. It was the thought that Lok Hui Man had brought KFC that soothes some of the unwillingness in her heart. She had been craving KFC for quite some time now.
McDonald’s yesterday and KFC today. Wow, apocalypse meals were really different from her normal days and not in a bad way.
This time, the male assistant was not with her and Madam Lok had come here alone. That was quite daring of her. Especially if she was here with a purpose.
“I brought plenty of chickens. I’m busy with work for the entire day and just got my break now.” Lok Hui Man waved the plastic bags in her hands. “I had to go back to work after this too.”
Wong Xue Guo wondered if her work had anything to do with the loss of the telecommunication line. As a capable leader, maintaining electricity, water and food were the most important now after securing safety. “The citizens will be grateful for your hard work to keep the island safe.”

Wong Xue Guo was not sympathetic to the older woman, even if her work helped many people to stay safe from the zombies. Grateful, yes, but not sympathetic. It was the job that she had chosen and it was respectable of her to not run away by herself at the first news of the zombie invasion.
From movies alone, she had seen way too many leaders that were ushered away from the danger at the first notice and left the danger to the soldiers to handle.
Kang Xunsu leads Lok Hui Man to the kitchen with their dinner, not at all opposed to her arrival. Visiting with food was a good way to subdue most of their dissatisfaction with an outsider coming into their territory uninvited. It was wise of Lok Hui Man to have picked the right ‘gift’.
“I had to do what I needed to. Everyone here is counting on me to keep them safe,” Lok Hui Man admitted. There was a flash of bitterness in her gaze before she concealed it.
Lok Hui Man was a rare politician where most of her party members were actually her family members. Her family had strongly supported and helped her to run the campaign. It was a heart-warming background, but there was also some nasty gossip about her family members doing so with wicked intentions.
Wong Xue Guo was a little interested to know if it was the truth.
“You are a good leader. That’s why they place their trust in you to lead them instead of aiming for the commanding position themselves. No one has the confidence in doing a better job than you.”
Cutting Penang Island off the rest of Malaysia’s state was a good example of that. Even if the normal practice was cutting off the cancerous part from the rest of the body instead of the reverse.
Lok Hui Man chuckled at the rather understanding young girl with decent conversational skills. She had read Wong Xue Guo’s record, clearly stating that she was only seventeen years old, with only about one month left to reach eighteen. She was rather curious how Suzie Yap had taught her daughter to be a flatterer yet not overly so that would degrade herself.
It took great mental training for her to be this composed before people with high status like Lok Hui Man.
Lok Hui Man eyed the tall boy with good-looking features standing beside Wong Xue Guo in a protective stance. She gave him a polite nod of greeting. “You got a rather good boyfriend.”
It had not taken much effort for Lok Hui Man to find out Chen Yibo’s identity from the government’s database. As a result, she completely believed the young man to be Wong Xue Guo’s boyfriend, with everything from his studies to his personal character that was highly praised.
“… Thank you.” Wong Xue Guo ignored anyone's gaze on her and forced herself to accept the undeserved praise from her lies.
Noodle helpfully distributed plates and silverware across the dining table. In the kitchen, only Wong Xue Guo, Kang Xunsu, Chen Yibo, Noodle, and the guest were gathered in it. Aurora was with Charles Wong, continuing their meeting. The rest were holed up somewhere and out of sight.
Wong Xue Guo wondered if she should excuse herself to inform her father that dinner had arrived with a guest. Then she would be free from the spotlight after pushing everything to her father.
But Kang Xunsu took the opportunity from her hands. “Since the little princess is busy, I will inform the boss about the guest.” He strides away with a smirk that deserves some thrashing.
After washing her hands, Lok Hui Man took a seat, ignoring the silverware that would slow down the eating process when it comes to eating fried chicken. “I heard that you’ve got visitors.”
“It’s flattering to have the busy Madam Lok keeping an eye on my house. I feel much safer if any danger visits me.”
“The offer to call me Sister Man still stands,” Lok Hui Man smiled. “A likable person like Xue Guo deserves being protected.”
Wong Xue Guo giggled sweetly, not at all looking embarrassed from the praise. “Thank you.” And ignored Lok Hui Man’s offer to call her sister, again.
“Xue Guo.”
The voice of her father was like a lifesaving donut tube thrown to her drowning state.
Lok Hui Man unconsciously straightens her back as she places down her half-eaten chicken drumstick onto her plate and wipes her oil-stained fingers with a tissue. She gazed up at the strikingly majestic handsome man with a slight resemblance to Wong Xue Guo.
To have such a beautiful daughter, the parents would need to have good looks as well.
Slowly smiling as she stood up, Lok Hui Man greeted the husband of her five-star potential investor. “Hello, Mr. Wong. I’m Lok Hui Man.”
