XG 65 - Newly adult cub
Suzie Yap, the wife of Charles Wong, acted on a whim and picked Chen Yibo as her date for tonight’s party despite knowing what will happen later during the party. When questioned by her husband, she sniffed in distaste at his cold attitude towards their daughter and wanted him to fix it, hence the date switch.
Grabbing Chen Yibo to chat with other people, Suzie Yap left the father and daughter duo at the dining table.
Unfortunately, Suzie Yap’s goodwill was not meant to be, for the father and daughter just sat side by side without making any conversation. Tonight’s event had allowed the dress in Wong Xue Guo’s luggage to see the light, thus she was not out of place with everyone similarly dressed up for the event.
With years of experience, Wong Xue Guo manages to sit straight without fidgeting even when she was actually feeling stressed to remain beside her father. It did not help when there were many people who tried to start a conversation with her father, only to meet with a cold human wall. Then they would start with her, only to discover they have a language barrier. Only a few could converse in English fluently and they saved her from feeling like an idiot.
But Charles Wong’s freezing look drove them away not long after they tried to chat with his daughter. In a short time, the rumor of the great boss Charles Wong being very protective of his daughter was spread around.
With a charming smile, Choi Yerim approached Charles Wong with a simple yet elegant yellow dress. She started a conversation, not at all deterred by his cold attitude. She was so focused on thawing the ice cube and unconsciously treated his date as an invisible person.
The meal had been served, allowing Wong Xue Guo to look at something else other than the two recipients. She had been in a slight conflict on whether to look at her cold-faced father or at the ignored Choi Yerim, who gradually looked embarrassed from being treated that way. She does not understand what the other woman was saying, but it must not be important because her father outright treated her as air.
Charles Wong eyed his daughter who stopped eating with her eyes on Choi Yerim and frowned. Catching his eye signal, she lowered her gaze and continued eating her food, following her father in ignoring the woman.
As the food was scarce, the feast was not buffet-style. Everyone has their own plate of food but obviously, those with more important positions have larger portions. On her plate, she immediately picked a favorite dish among her portion.

Mashed potato with a delicious gravy. (っ˘ڡ˘ς)
Perhaps she had been very obvious with her choice, her father literally picked his plate and shoved the entire portion of his mashed potato onto hers.
“… Thank you.”
“Eat more. You have gotten thinner.”
Maybe her father did this because of his wife’s badgering, but it still touched her starving heart. She has also done her part by not revealing her seemingly thin figure was because of her muscle gaining process, hence her absent-looking flabby flesh.
In return for his actions, she wanted to pass some of her meat to her father’s plate, only for her chance to be robbed.
“Mr. Wong, do you want more meat?” Choi Yerim injected herself between them again, unwilling to accept her first rejection of making friends with this mysterious man. “The kitchen had just refilled them.”
Once again, Wong Xue Guo could not understand what the woman said and grew frustrated. Where was her mother? How could she let a young girl hit on her husband?!
Did she think their daughter could do the lightbulb job well? She can't!
She had heard from Kang Xunsu that his father was popular with women, but she never saw it in action. In contrast, she had encountered her mother being hit on, but she does not need to help her mother swat away the flies.
Suzie Yap only had eyes for her husband, which Kang Xunsu had jokingly said she treated other men as eunuchs.
“Guo Guo, do you want meat?” Charles Wong asked his daughter, his tone was a degree less cold when facing Choi Yerim.
Wong Xue Guo shook her head as she thought she did not need to worry. She does not need to do the job of a lightbulb, because her father acted quite well as an iceberg in blocking Choi Yerim’s initiative.
“Mashed potato?” Her father surprisingly asked another question.
Testingly, Wong Xue Guo nodded her head honestly. She wonders what her father will do, and even if he did get her another serving, she does not mind it for she still wants to eat.
As Charles Wong spoke ‘Mashed potato’ in English, Choi Yerim could finally understand the father and daughter’s conversation. “I can get some for you,” Choi Yerim spoke with understandable English, but she could not be compared to Kim Sung-Ho that used it for daily interaction.
“Oh no, please don’t trouble yourself. Everyone is a guest here, how can I have another guest serve me!” Wong Xue Guo sounded scandalized and spoke at her normal speed.

As the sneaky Wong Xue Guo expected, it was a little tough for Choi Yerim, who had not used English sparsely, to catch all her words in time. However, there was nothing the Korean woman could be nit-picky about when she understood the younger girl had not purposely made things difficult for her.
Choi Yerim was more assured of her judgment when the girl smiled apologetically, with no hint of snub towards her.
“No, no, I’m free and love to help,” Choi Yerim said with a gentle smile.
Even if Choi Yerim was sincerely kind, Wong Xue Guo’s opinion towards her was already of negative value because of her mother’s warning as well as her approach towards her uninviting father.
Charles Wong suddenly picked up his daughter’s plate and approached the server, leaving Wong Xue Guo staring blankly at his back. Suddenly, the atmosphere became awkward and she felt a little bad for the other woman that was ignored even if she approached them with obscure intention.
“Sorry, my father prefers to do things himself,” Wong Xue Guo made an excuse for her father. “Please, do not worry about us and enjoy yourself.”
“No problem. Then I will leave you and your father to have a nice meal.”
Not far away from the table, Suzie Yap watched as Choi Yerim left her daughter’s side, and then eyed her husband returning to their daughter’s side with a plate filled with a generous amount of mashed potato. Her mood was immediately better than before and was spotted with a satisfied smile.
There was no time for her currently, unlike her in the first life, to fling her husband’s admirers away when all her time belonged to her daughter. If her husband did not work hard to protect himself, Suzie Yap might have to restart the cold war with him.
Suzie Yap was determined to do something to help out her husband to mend his relationship with their daughter and tonight’s party was a success. Thus, she made a drastic move in tossing Charles Wong to be the children’s mentor for the next few days.
However, he disliked using long swords and taught them how to use guns instead. The excuse of lack of bullets was swallowed when he retorted that in the future, the number of guns will be more than living humans.
As for the result of the training?
Chen Yibo was full of energy as he followed Charles Wong's every word, doing every exercise perfectly that scored a hundred points. His talent on guns was better than swords, so he performed way better than Wong Xue Guo.
On the other hand, Wong Xue Guo felt that her nerves were strengthened a degree after being exposed to her father’s sharp eyes that were scrutinizing every flaw she had. But it was also during the training with her father that she realized she was better off with a sword in her hand. It was not so bad to the extent she would miss the target by a large margin, but it was the recoil that she could not handle properly and it left her completely defenseless during the recoil.
At least Wong Xue Guo had learned how to use a gun, where she would not be operating blindly if she needed to use one in the future.
While she liked spending time with her father, she thanked heaven when he had to return to the lab to help out. The mentoring job was once again returned to Kang Xunsu and occasionally with the guidance of Suzie Yap.
Her days of mind-numbing training suddenly changed routine one day.
With Chen Yibo alongside Wong Xue Guo, Suzie Yap stared at the two children seated before her. They sat attentively while they waited for whatever she wanted to say. It was not the first time she had found both of them were rather well-matched with each other, both in temperament and looks.
Although both of them were still young, Suzie Yap could not stop herself from thinking about grandchildren that would share their features. Even if she hoped so, she did not do anything else other than that. The children have the right to decide who they like. Plus, her daughter was still young; why would she deliver her to someone else's household so quickly?
On this point, Suzie Yap stood in agreement with her husband.
“I’m sure that there are people helping the mastermind hidden inside this lab, either as a researcher or a guard. There may be more than one spy among us, and we need to be careful on who to trust.”
“You want us to figure out who the spies are?” Chen Yibo asked, ready to act as soon as Suzie Yap said a word.

Anyway, these issues don't last long and since Pob is a story that rewards the patient, only those who've read till the latest will understand how good the story really is....I designed it to get better with every ark, surprises planned at every corner and the eventual ending of Pob will definitely not dissapoint, so stick around and give it a chance. :D

Soul's Curtain
The mortal land bordered by two worlds, one of immortals and the other of ceaselessness. As Illias Finn remains bound within the cell of an abandoned prison the curtain calls its chosen to descend into it's embrace. To be honest I will just write and upload whenever i feel like it, but if i find it getting relative success I can try write a bit more. This will just be a write, read then upload kind of thing for me while i try to flesh out more worldbuilding. I'm pretty novice when it comes to writing just a few years of secondary english under my belt but hardly any of that's creative. NGL, a lot of this world building is inspired by Tower of God or other fiction i have read, especially the tower-like setting.
