Blight:
The phenomena known as “Blight” has always existed on Lokken. All known civilizations, even those long gone, have passed this truth on through written and oral histories.

Festerfonts:
Festerfonts are the visible influence of Blight tainting the land. These locations are incredibly dangerous. For this reason, they are sought out by Blight Seekers and the Blightbane Guild they work for.
It should be noted that this danger is exclusive to the sentient creatures of the planet. Festerfonts have not been observed targeting other living organisms. The Blightbane Research Division believes that this is due to [INFORMATION INACCESSIBLE - RESTRICTED].
While the festerfonts do not target other living organisms, they often disturb the ecosystems present in the areas they appear in. The Guild is exploring alternate hypotheses regarding this phenomenon, but the working assumption is that the Blight is perceived as a foreign entity.
Layers:
A festerfont has three distinct “layers”. The blightbeast variants found and the behavior of these variants is different from layer to layer, growing more dangerous the closer to the center one gets.
Outskirts:
The “outskirts” is the outermost layer of a festerfont. Weaker blightbeasts roam here. Depending on the region and the festerfont’s [INFORMATION INACCESSIBLE - INCOMPLETE] and [INFORMATION INACCESSIBLE - INCOMPLETE], the size of the outskirts varies.
Body:
The “body” makes up the bulk of a festerfont. It is wedged between the other two layers. Here, weaker blightbeasts are joined by more dangerous variants, spawned by the festerfont in an effort to keep outsiders from reaching the next and final layer.
Core:
The “core” is the most dangerous place to be in any festerfont. Here, the festerfont will aggressively target trespassers who may reach its [INFORMATION INACCESSIBLE - RESTRICTED].

Blightbeasts:
Blightbeasts are the guardians of festerfonts. They spawn, fully formed, from the very land itself. They exhibit different behavior from creatures that do not possess blightseeds. Blightbeasts do not materialize beyond festerfonts.

Studies of these creatures are hindered by dissolution upon death. Instead, they are scanned, observed, and dissected while still alive by Guild Battlescribes. Additionally, blightbeasts will die if removed from the location of the festerfont in which they spawned. However, this restriction is [INFORMATION INACCESSIBLE - RESTRICTED].
Blightseeds:
Blightseeds are strange crystalline-barbed orbs of various colors. They are only found in blightbeasts, as the only matter that does not vanish upon a blightbeast’s death.
Some, primarily Blight Seekers, consume them to get stronger. The strength provided is different depending on the individual. Some find it easier for their bodies to build and efficiently-retain musculature after consuming the seeds, while others will experience a boost to their cognitive faculties. There are many other effects of consumption. Despite concerns of side effects, no such claims have been proven true when examined by the Guild.

Threat:
The Blightbane use a system to communicate an estimation of how dangerous each blightbeast variant is. The primary goal of this system is to deter inexperienced seekers from entering fights they cannot win.
There are advantages and disadvantages to the threat system.

Blightbeast Templates:
All blightbeasts are believed to be engineered by the Blight based on creatures that currently exist or have existed in the past. This is called the “Blightbeast Template” theory. These templates are biological records acquired over billions of years, made manifested using some Blight mechanism yet unknown.
Many unnaturally alien creatures have sprung from the depths of festerfonts, and critics of the templates theory use these as evidence that it is an incomplete explanation. Lokken could have never [INFORMATION INACCESSIBLE - RESTRICTED].
