Monsters are the bringers of death. No one knows what their objective is nor if they even have one to begin with. What is known is that, they are our enemies. Possessing immense power, every time a monster appears, it brings about destruction to where it stands. However, their most peculiar characteristic is that they didn't come from our world.

They came from what is called the ‘Rift’. A crack in space that literally came out of nowhere and is of unknown origin. It is also called ‘the gate of monsters’ and appear at random places throughout the world. Although it's appearances are rare and it disappears right after a monster comes out of it, it's threat is still considered a global one.

And right this moment, a Rift was confirmed to have appeared in one part of Myriad city.

“Found it!” a man shouted while standing on top of a building. His name was Fate. He was the Elite sent by Ark to eliminate the monster that was currently inside a certain school.

The man didn't waste his time, and coated his body in Aura. He was, after all, well aware that if he loitered around too much, the number of students in danger would increase. He immediately launched himself toward the school, and upon arriving, the first thing he saw was a devil; trying to kill a student.

Without a second thought, he put strength into his legs and, with incredible speed, appeared right in front of the monster, blocking its attack. A mini-shockwave ensued, pushing the two of them a few step back.

Using that moment, Fate glanced toward the student that just nearly died. But when he turned his head, he was a little taken aback. What he protected wasn't one but two students. Both girls. One was leaning against a wall, unconscious and covered in blood. At first glance, she appeared to be in a critical state. Fortunately, the other person was currently healing her through the clear use of a singularity.

‘Was there another Elite dispatched here?’ Fate thought for a second. He also remarked that the girl didn't even seem to notice either him or the monster's presence. All her focus went into healing the bloodied girl. Seeing that, Fate didn't want to disrupt her.

“I need an ambulance sent into my position, right now.” he said, after placing his finger on his ear.

“Understood,” A man, from the other side, responded to him. “It should arrive in 15 minutes.”

After receiving the confirmation, Fate returned his sight toward the monster. That thing is going to pay for what it did to these kids. With that as his motivation, two giant hands suddenly materialized beside him. Not only that, the aura coating him instantly intensified. He then took his battle stance, preparing himself to kill the devil.

“...Human... Kill !”

Receiving Fate's killing intent, the devil also responded, increasing the pressure surrounding them.

Taking the first move, Fate launched the two giant hand beside him toward the monster. This was his singularity, ‘materialization’. He could, as the name say, materialize, not only part of himself, but also everything he hold, into a more giant form. Conversely, as he can control the thing he create, they will also disappear if he stops concentrating on them.

The devil stopped the two hand using his own, and shattered them into thousands pieces. Fate's frown deepened upon the sight. His power shouldn't be destroyed that easily.

Cutting off from his thought, he dodged the fist that was aimed at his face. Using that momentum, he materialized another layer of gloves around his hand, and counterattacked the monster.

Trying to block the blow, the devil used its wing, effectively reducing the damage. From there, the thing continued spreading out its wings, knocking the hand off itself, and opening its mouth.

Sensing danger, Fate immediately knew that he had to stop the monster from what it was going to do. Gathering all his strength on his feet, he kicked the devil's stomach with everything he had, sending it high into the sky.

His complexion worsened, however, as a ray of light shot toward him. He wanted to materialized a giant hand to shield himself, but, when he remembered the still unconscious people scattered around him, he stopped. If he tried to block the blast, it may curve toward the students.

With no other option, he gritted his teeth, and endured the pain as the pillar of energy engulfed him.

Believing in its victory, the devil slowly landed on the ground.

“This isn't over; you piece of shit!”

Appearing out of nowhere, Fate grabbed the monster's head and slammed it into the ground.

“This has just begun!”

Still holding the thing by its head, he threw it outside of the school.

First thing first, Fate decided to change their battleground to where there will be no casualties.

And then, he could finally be serious.

After a while later, Celia was finally out of her trance. She was completely drenched in sweat as immense feeling of exhaustion washed over her. However, seeing that Rin was now living again, she felt more relieved than anything else.

“Miss, are you alright?”

Hearing a voice from behind her, she turned around. She was surprised to see a paramedic standing there. No, it was not only there, she could see various people transporting injured student and teacher all around the school. The ambulance had already arrived.

In fact, they have arrived here for more than ten minute earlier already. They even tried to take Celia to the hospital, but refrained from doing so when they saw what she was doing. They didn't dare to disturb her, as them more than anyone else, knew that healing someone needed concentration, no matter what method was used.

However, now that she finished, they needed to have a medical check on her.

“...My...friend...”

Celia tried to convey something, only to be surprised at her voice that barely came out. She visibly drained much more energy than she thought. Realizing that, her vision began to blur and, as if reacting in chain, her head loosed its balance.

The paramedic caught it in time before it landed on the ground.

“Don't worry, we'll take care of you and your friend.” He smiled as he said so.

Then, Celia lost her consciousness.

After another ten minutes later, Fate returned to the school while dragging the dead body of the devil. He was in tatter. Wound covered him from head to toe. His clothes were ripped and blood oozed out from his forehead.

Seeing him, several men, dressed in black uniform approached.

“Good work!” One of them greeted him as such.

The other behind him, took the monster corpse from him, loading it onside a black vehicle.

“Your report and your reward will come later, so for now, be a good boy and go get yourself healed.” The Ark officer continued by saying so.

“... Okay.” Fate responded with a wry smile.

He was later sent to the hospital.
