As he exited the crack into the chamber where the bodies had been hanging, scurrying spiders could be heard. Yoreno glanced about critically, but saw none of the cursed arachnids.
He swiped the open space with his torch, left, then right, the fire there hissing and guttering with his fast movement as he continued to look about carefully.
The bodies were still there, the webbing mostly burnt and the desiccated remains mostly charred along with the egg sack.
“The fire did good work here,” Xanderial said.
Glancing forward, Yoreno nodded. The webbing leading through a tunnel corridor they hadn’t seen before was also burnt and charred.
Yoreno suspected the next chamber ahead would be the main nest.
And where the spiderling awaited them.
“Be careful,” Dantera said. She turned and glanced back and Xanderial. “What we didn’t tell you about the spiderling…”
“What?”
“They are often dark magickers as well as monsters that can command the lower spiders.”
Swallowing, Xanderial asked, “Are they… are they spiders themselves?”
Yoreno turned, waited for Dantera’s explanation, though he knew the answer that was coming.
“No,” she said with a shake of her head.
“Then…” Xanderial said. “Then what are they?”
“An evil abomination,” Yoreno said. “Something between a man and a spider.”
Xanderial’s eyes widened and he reflexively took a step back. “Truly?”
He nodded.
“Then let us kill this beast so we can be done of this.”
“Like an adventurer,” Dantera said with a subtle smile. “We might have to ask your lady if you can accompany us on our quests later on.”
Saying nothing, Xanderial paused for a moment, then finally nodded.
Yoreno turned to make his way through the tunnel, but Dantera put out her arm and barred his way. When he looked at her, she shook her head. “I am the more powerful adventurer. It makes no sense for you to go before me, yes?”

Despite her superior capabilities, Yoreno was not accustomed to having a woman go first, but her point was logical—especially since he was technically her protégé.
“The learner follows the master.”
“Mistress,” she said with a grin. “Then do follow, protégé.”
Yoreno returned her smile. “Lev would tell you not to die.”
She raised an eyebrow. “Then I suppose it is a good think you are not him, or I’d grab you by the scruff of your neck and haul you ahead of me.”
“Jokes?” Xanderial asked. “Really?”
They both looked at him. “Sorry,” Yoreno said.
“When you’ve been an adventurer as long as we have,” Dantera said, “you learn to bring levity to an otherwise dour situation.”
Visibly swallowing, Xanderial accepted her explanation and nodded.
“Now let’s go,” she said with a determined air. “Follow me.”

Neophyte
Blurb:Layla lives in a multi-planar universe where gods and superhuman immortals roam. Immortality is possible but only to those with money, power, and connections. Layla isn't worried about that, though. She's just trying to pay the rent. Robinhood style, of course. Atom is the self-proclaimed Mantle of Procrastination and good times. He Ascended from Earth a thousand years ago. A millennial NEET shut-in at heart, he enjoys video games and holo tube while spending time with his female companion, who does all his deific duties for him. Join the crazy adventures of a lazy God and his unwilling follower's rise to power. The first few Arc's of the story is an Academy arc. I think you will know if you like the story by chapter 6 as the first chapter may be confusing (or sucks, idk I like it so whatever)._________ The story is a slow burn. If you are expecting quick progression, I suggest looking at some of the other great stories on RR. I personally enjoy and Patreon several, but that's not what I'm writing. That might hurt my chances of trending anytime soon (or ever lol), but that is fine with me. I'm sure some of you will appreciate the story as much as I do in writing it. FAQ: The story has elements of xianxia and wuxia along with some GameLit (at some point). The story takes place in an age where tech has advanced to a complete integration with magic. Imagine everything running on mana or qi instead of electricity, and you will get the idea. There will be crafting but not until later in the story. It's actually a core plot elemenet for Layla. I'm writing this story for my own enjoyment and as a way of relieving stress in my life. I'm not a pro author or a naturally gifted wordsmith. I don't have beta readers and every chapter posted is a first draft. I'm still learning and will strive to improve as I continue the story. If you don't speak up I can't work on improving as an author. I welcome any criticism and encouragement that would help me become a better writer. I can't believe you read this far down! ;) Enjoy the story. --Cover Credit-- Cover art (emblem) by: Oxana Che Cover Design by: Miblart

With his friends dying left and right, what will happened to the humanity we knows as. Will Kip remain the same person he always was, or will he changed into something else? Hey guys, thank you for checking out my work. I've read so many novels on this site and it inspired me to write my own story. I've been studying English for about 2 years now and thought this would be a good opportunity to increase my writing skill at the same time. I am currently studying my degree at a University so I'll continue to edit and write more chapter whenever it's convenient for me to do so (which is like, all the times haha). My first work can turn out to be a bit crude, but I hope you guys will be patient and allow little small slime to grow. Thanks!!!
