《I'd Like to Change My Reincarnation Subscription, Please》Ch105 - New Toys

Staring at the marbles for a few seconds longer, Lucas finally releases his grip on the fridge before walking over and picking the pouch up. Crouching over and gathering the few loose scattered marbles before putting away all but one, he then sticks the pulled-shut pouch into his front left pants pocket.
Standing back up, he tosses up the one he kept loose a few times, slightly increasing the height of the toss each successive time.
'So, since I don't want the phone incident all over again, where can I safely throw this thing to test it out?'
[Oh? Hmm, I'd say try to hit the top corner of that five-story building on the other side of the street from the entrance of the alley.]
'Ha! Not gonna make it easy, eh? Well, here goes!'
Gently pinching the small glass marble between his thumb, index, and middle fingertips, he brings his arm back as he adapts a pitcher stance once again.
Over the course of him claiming the marble and adjusting his stance, Miss Calculated has come out of the building through the opening Miss Masher had made, walking over to stand next to Willy. Before she has any chance to make her presence known, the female employee has also entered the alley via the hole Lucas had torn open with the assistance of the refrigerator, while still recording him.
Grunting slightly, Lucas snaps his arm forward and throws the marble as hard as he can, trying to aim at the top left corner of the indicated building.
Promptly losing sight of it, he squints at the intended target area while trying to see if he can notice any change, holding a hand up to shade his eyes from the sun.
'..Uhh?'
[Oh, not too far off. Not bad.]
Shortly after, half of a brick has started falling from only a small distance away from where he was aiming.
'Oh shit, nice. Wait… That's high enough that even freefalling that will… Damnit!'
Without any ideas as to how he'd possibly be of any help, Lucas has already started running toward the opening of the alley, hoping that the brick will just harmlessly crash down onto empty pavement.
The middle-aged woman has shifted the focus of her stream from Lucas's back over to the falling brick, zooming in on it quite a bit, closely tracking its fall.

A greatly amused and loudly laughing Miss Masher has now finally come out of the opposite building, promptly noticing Lucas's back as he runs away.
"Eh? Where's he off to?" Abruptly ceasing her laughter, Miss Masher has a puzzled expression as she watches his retreating figure. She reaches up and goes to wipe the powdery remnants of her smashing spree away from her forehead with the back of her hand, smearing a small streak of blood in its place.
Willy runs after Lucas after a moment of hesitation, but remains quiet while doing so.
Miss Calculated shrugs in answer to her sister's question, making an uncertain grunt while watching Lucas as well. After a moment, she finally turns her attention to her sister, sighing once she does.
"Mash, your… That's not yours, right?" Miss Calculated points at her own forehead, indicating where the gorey smear is for her sister.
Wiping it away with her other hand, Miss Masher looks down at the blood for a moment and then chuckles.
"Of course not, I had just checked if she had any interestin' jewelry or anythin'. Easier said than done though, since she was basically a jelly pancake. And no, I didn't find nuttin'." After Miss Masher gives this answer, Miss Calculated sighs again and shakes her head, then starts walking after Lucas.
"Oh! Looks like Jackknife's back, heh." Miss Masher blurts this out as she starts heading towards the mouth of the valley, curiously watching the falling brick. She can't help chuckling after noticing a blur suddenly jump up, bouncing off of the building to intercept the falling brick directly above a walking pedestrian's head, then finally slowing down enough to be identifiable when he lands a few feet away in a three-point stance. The hand that isn't being used to help stabilize his landing is held out horizontally, holding a small, bent, tailpipe.
The side of the building now features a small crater containing the shattered remnants of the half-brick, fairly low on the ground floor. Given the location compared to where Jonathan was when he smacked it, it seems he had done a downward swing with the pipe to change its trajectory, using his momentum from jumping off of the side of the building to land a few feet away afterward.

The saved pedestrian is more spooked by the suddenly appearing pipe-wielding speed supe than the brick they were previously unaware of, making a startled jump and then running away. Good thing Jonathan didn't do it for the gratitude.
As Lucas makes it out of the alley and out onto the sidewalk proper, he can't help noticing the sheer number of wrecked vehicles in the area, with no small amount of bloodstains decorating the area.
'Holy shit, she did that much while we were in the building getting to her?'
[Well, there was one accident afterward independent of her direct influence, but for the most part, yes. Also, alert; three new minor GDV tasks have been assigned. Please-]
'Can it, I'm gonna go check on Jon first. Something doesn't seem right, why hasn't he moved?'
[...]
Starting to head towards the street, Lucas is quickly annoyed by the pileup of cars blocking his path. The closest one in front of him is a small silver sedan, crushed into a notably smaller size. The driver is still trapped inside, screaming for help.
Irritated more than anything, Lucas starts walking over to angrily rip the passenger door off. Tossing it aside, he leans in to yank the driver out, finally dumping them on the sidewalk behind him, all without actually acknowledging them in any way.
[Uh, congratulations on comple-]
'I said can it! Why isn't Jon moving!?'
[He's not injured, you don't... You don't need to panic.]
'...You shoulda said that sooner. I still don't like this one bit, though.'
Hefting up the now-empty vehicle over his head, purposely crushing it further in order to make it a bit more wieldy, Lucas begins walking directly out into moving traffic.
Over where he is still crouching, Jonathan releases the tailpipe he was holding. After a brief moment of hesitation, he sits down on the ground right where he is, all while panting heavily.
Willy stays on the sidewalk just outside the mouth of the alley, loudly barking at Lucas twice, but his scolding is completely disregarded.
Needless to say, while the various vehicles' drivers were already quite concerned with avoiding the wreckage in the area, they are now VERY concerned with the strength supe casually carrying a car in the air above him. And, this is all while he is blatantly jaywalking without even looking anywhere other than straight ahead at Jonathan, collapsed on the opposite sidewalk.
No small number of honking horns are passionately informing him of their rather negative opinions regarding the choices of his course of actions.
[...And just why are you bringing it with you?]
'Hey, it's workin' right?'
[...All right, fair enough.]

Jonathan, still panting heavily: Please… No… More… Tasks…
