Common Sense of a Warrior Chapter 31

Dun dun duun!!! It’s Halloween~ I’ve been productive recently, so have a Halloween treat~!!

“Oh, elder brother. Welcome home.”

“The one saying that shouldn’t be you, but me, isn’t it? ……you went out to town again, didn’t you?”

“Uu……”

Because I encountered him while still disguised in my appearance for going out to town, it couldn’t be helped that I was exposed so quickly. I couldn’t make any excuses either. Even though this was why I chose a route in a mansion so that I wouldn’t encounter anyone……how unlucky.

“Even though I told you so many times not to carelessly go out to town without bringing any soldiers with you. Since father possesses the title of ‘hero’, there are bound to be plenty of nobles envious of him. Of course, I know that you are strong, but as expected, we don’t know what would happen if a whole bunch of assassins were sent after you…….well, what’s done is done, but at least try to do it in a way so that father won’t find out.”

“…….ahh……it’s already been found out by father.”

At my words, elder brother’s gaze became sharp.

“There was a big uproar about some noble’s daughter going missing when she went out to town……I found her while searching and thought to send her back, and then happened to bump into father.”

Lately, when I was free, I would go into town. In the past there were times when I went to town on my own, but that was only using the main street to get to the tower.

Right now, I didn’t just do that, but would also wander around every nook and corner of town.

When I was taken around by Kuroitsu-san, there were numerous things that I saw and heard for the first time, and because of that, I felt that I wanted to learn about various things……that was one of the reasons why I was wandering.

Up until now, all my life truly had was the sword.

When I was exploring the town today as well, there was a small disturbance at the street corner. Just out of curiosity about what was happening, I poked my head in, and well, it seemed that a young girl had gone missing. In addition to that, since she was a noble’s daughter, it couldn’t be helped that the disturbance became even bigger.

Upon searching around a bit, I tried guessing the thoughts of the girl whom I had never met before……if we were the same in that we didn’t know much about the outside world, then the places that would attract my interest might……-as a result of walking around with that in mind, I found her.

The young girl who was wearing cute and simple clothing was, by the time I arrived, already being chased by men that one would probably not want to become acquaintances with.

Now that I think of it, that girl was completely silent when I was escorting her back…….as expected, she was probably scared of my appearance when I was driving off the men.

Elder brother let out a deep sigh.

Seeing his state made me feel apologetic, but even as I felt that, the sense of satisfaction from being able to rescue that girl continued to occupy my heart.

“Even though father is a general, he does like to be at the actual scene……so when that upper class noble girl was kidnapped, he probably thought that it’d be best for him to go out himself. Well, you know. Just give up and get ready to be scolded.”

“Although I’ve already been scolded…….”

“Too soft. Some hard training to prevent you from going out to town is probably waiting for you.”

“Well, that’s good in its own way.”

“The only one who would think of that training as a reward is you.”

Elder brother laughed emptily, patting my head as he began to walk once again.
