The Legendary Rebuilding of a World by a Realist Demon King Chapter 10
Drifted Relic, Izuminokami Kanesada
While the skeleton engineers and orcs dug the moat, I focused on strengthening my army.
As expected, much of the materials we had taken from Sabnac’s storehouse contained things that would be useful in making kobolds.
And other beast monsters.
I wonder why? Eve answered this question.
“Sabnac is known as the Demon King of the beastkin. It is only natural that he would gather materials related to them.”
“I see.”
“Yes. Sabnac’s body may look human, but he has the head of a lion. He is even called the Lion King by some.”
“That’s a very imposing name.”
“In truth, he is strong. While his army is middling because he is not great with magic, he is no F rank Demon King if judged as an individual warrior.”
“I understand. So he is a meathead Demon King. He can only depend on his personal strength.”
“In short, yes.”
“Then it will be worth playing a little trick on him.”
“Do you have an idea?”
“I do. But for now, hand this map to our engineers with these instructions.”
“This is…!?”
Eve was quick enough to immediately understand what I was thinking.
“Very good, master. The lion’s claws will never reach you now.”
She said with approval.
“Save it for when it succeeds. There is much to prepare in advance.”
Even if Sabnac was an F rank Demon King, that was just a general comparison between him and the others. His forces were still far ahead of my own.
And so I would have to use the kind of strategy that a weakling would use.
“From the recent assault and from what you told me, I understand that our enemies army consists of beastkin. So we will have to summon many monsters that are strong against beastkin.”
“A wonderful idea.”
“Beastkin are sharp and strong in physique, but their attacks are mostly physical. There are not many who can use magic. So I think to make a unit of ghosts and wraiths who are immune to physical attacks.”

“Very good, master.”
And so Eve brought over materials that seemed optimal for making such specters.
With those materials, I made twenty wraiths that were immune to physical attacks.
Rarity: Silver Rare
Race: Ghost, Wraith
Job: Magician
Fighting Ability: 211
Skills: Physical Immunity, Deadly Curses
Such was their abilities.
“Now the fight will be quite one-sided.”
Eve said with a hint of optimism. But I casually disagreed.
“No. While he may have fewer magicians, he still has them. And I am sure there will be enchanted weapons as well. I could lose if I rely on the wraiths alone.”
“I understand.”
“And so I will also summon some powerful beast monsters.”
As I mentioned before, there were many materials related to beasts among our spoils of war. I thought to combine them to summon a powerful beast.
Even if it did not compare to The Lion himself, I would be happy to have a beast that could at least kill kobolds and warcats with one hand.
In order to summon something that was a rank above the rest, I dumped all of the materials we had taken from Sabnac into the pot and poured magic into it.
The thing that was born from this, was the infamous ‘Werewolf.’
Werewolf. A humanoid monster that was also called a lycanthrope.
This monster was covered in hair and had the head of a wolf.
It was one of the advanced species among the beastkin.
And its status was fitting of that advanced rank.
Rarity: Gold Rare
Race: Beastkin, Werewolf
Job: Warrior
Fighting Ability: 591
Skills: Sharp Nose, Accelerated Healing
These numbers were higher than any monster I had summoned before.
It was with tremendous luck that I was able to summon ten of them.
There were a little leftover materials that I used to summon goblins and orcs. And then my Ashtaroth army was complete.
Now, I wasn’t too far behind Sabnac in terms of numbers and quality.
Eve smiled when I said this.
“Then your victory is guaranteed. If the armies are of comparable strength, then it is only a matter of the quality of their leaders. And I do believe that you outstrip him in that way.”

“I can only hope.”
I say lightheartedly. And so I decided to gather the soldiers and train them.
Strong soldiers needed training, otherwise, they were no different than animals.
It was only after I had united these unique creatures and am able to command them as if commanding my own limbs, that I would be able to breathe easily.
Until then, I had to stay ready and never let my guard down.
And so the days passed while I planned for my stand against Sabnac. While we had used up the materials we stole from him, I remembered that there was still something else.
We had not only stolen materials but treasure as well.
Most of it had been stored in the castle safe, as it was to be used to expand the town at a later date. But there were treasures in there that could not be converted into money.
I did not want to throw them away either, and as I wondered what to do, Eve suggested a use for them.
“Master, could the thing you are looking at be a Japanese sword?”
“A Japanese sword…?”
I instinctively asked, but in truth, I was not remotely surprised.
The curved blade, the artistic glimmer. It was much the same as the swords that appeared in my own memories.
Yes, I had memories of researching these and being drawn to them.
I do believe that I had wanted to replicate one of these.
I have no idea if I ever succeeded in doing that, but I was sure that this was a katana.
And so I asked Eve.
“Eve, these swords exist in this world?”
“I have heard rumors of them coming from an island to the east. There are Japanese swords occasionally among their exports. Nobles from western countries sometimes like to collect them as works of art. There are even some Demon Kings who use them to fight.”
“I see. But this sword is not from this world…”
I declare.
“What brought you to that conclusion?”
“It does not smell like this world. Perhaps I am more sensitive to it, as an outsider. I can detect the differences between these countries materials. Yes, I am sure of it. This sword is from another world.”
“Very impressive. That is indeed something that has drifted into here.”
“Drifted?”
“There are rare relics that have drifted from other worlds into ours. Most of them are incredibly powerful, and owning such relics is considered a symbol of status to many.”
“I see. So that is why the Lion King had one.”
“I believe so. It is not strange at all for a Demon King to carry a powerful relic like this.”
“Well, this sword may be powerful, but just one swing…”
It would be a different story if these could be mass produced and distributed among the troops. But as it was, it had little value to me outside of being an antique.
I said as much, and Eve gave one of her rare smiles.
“…There is one thing that you do not yet know.”
She said.
“And what is that?”
“These ‘drifted’ relics can also be used as summoning material. If you put that inside of the Klein bottle, you will be able to summon the spirit of the owner. This is called Spirit Summoning.”
“So I suppose it is different than summoning normal monsters.”
“Exactly.”
“I see. Very interesting. Well, I might as well try it then.”
I was about to toss the katana into the pot, but Eve looked at me worriedly.
I ask her why.
“…Spirit Summoning does allow you to call powerful Heroes from other worlds, but these Heroes will have a will of their own. There is a possibility that they will defy the person who summoned them.”
“I see. Yes, that would be possible. However, if that were to happen, it just proves that I was not worth much as a Demon King, to begin with. How can I reach for the skies if I cannot subdue a single Hero.”
Eve heard these words and shed a tear.
“Very good, master,” she replied.
She had a habit of exaggerating in her estimation of me, but I wanted to remove her reason for worrying as soon as possible.
I had no idea what it would be, but I threw the sword which had:
‘Izuminokami Kanesada’
Written on it into the pot.

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above.
