The Legendary Rebuilding of a World by a Realist Demon King Chapter 21
The Saint, The Maid and Preparations
The girl called herself Jeanne d’Arc.
Searching through my knowledge, I recalled that she was a saint who lived in a place called Europe in another world.
She had a revelation from God at a young age, and so donned armor and picked up a sword. She would then become a hero who saves her country of France from the invading country known as England.
But she was caught by her enemies and burned at the stake. That was how her life had ended, and yet, she had apparently been summoned to this world.
I whisper to Eve.
“…Can a Hero come here by their own accord?”
“I have heard of such cases. But there are also times when the master who summons a Hero dies, and that Hero becomes a free wanderer.”
“But which is she?”
“I do not know.”
“I see. However, this is a stroke of good luck. Providential aid. I can add a Hero to my ranks without the need for a drifted relic.”
“But she may be an enemy spy.”
“That is true.”
Though, it was difficult to believe that such a girl could be a spy.
Jeanne d’Arc had died a Hero for God and her people.
Would such a person work as a spy?
I said as much to Eve.
“You are too kind to girls, master.”
She answered.
Eve was not likely to give me any more answers, and so I asked Jeanne.
“So you wish to work for me?”
“Yes. It is God’s will.”
“You will swear allegiance to me then?”
“If it is God’s will.”
“Why are you in this world?”

“Because it is God’s will.”
“…”
Did she have a low vocabulary?
Still, I do believe that Jeanne d’Arc was known for being a devout believer.
I looked towards Hijikata Toshizou.
A madman who wanted a place to die and a religious zealot who listened only to god.
Was this the best I could hope for in terms of Hero subordinates?
Well, perhaps it was the duty of a king to be able to handle such odd generals and make use of them.
“Very well. Jeanne, if you will serve me because it is god’s will, does that mean you will also kill me if it is his will?”
“…”
She nodded.
“I am going on a journey to the dwarf homelands. There, I will speak to their chief. I will require a guard. I am thinking of leaving that role to you.”
“Are you mad!?”
Eve said, but I ignored it.
“I could also leave her here and take Toshizou with me instead.”
“…Th-that, won’t…”
Eve knew that this would hardly do either.
If Jeanne really was a spy, then my castle would be as good as overrun.
My core would be destroyed. Game over.
“And so there it is. Jeanne, will you come with me?”
“That has always been my intention. I heard a message. It said that I would travel with the Demon King. A strong-willed maid would also be present.”
Jeanne glanced over to Eve. Eve’s expression was difficult to read.
“There I will kill many. But it is God’s will. The Demon King will gain an important friend there. That is also God’s will. However…”
“However?”
“The Demon King will also lose an important friend.”
“Is that also God’s will?”
The blonde girl nodded.
“I don’t know who this friend is. But if I refused to move out of fear of a divine message, then the name Demon King Ashtaroth would forever become synonymous with cowardice. I will go.”

Jeanne’s face broke into a smile at these words.
“A Demon King chosen by God.”
She said.
That was a very curious combination of words there. But I suppose it worked if you did not equate being a Demon King with being evil.
And indeed, I did not see myself as evil.
And so, I gained a new commander to accompany us to the dwarf’s homelands.
The real purpose of the recruitment board had been fulfilled, but the examinations had only just begun.
After that, I acted as the town’s magistrate and performed strict examinations before choosing a few low ranking officers.
In time, they would become commanders of the human mercenary squads I would form.
I intended for Toshizou to train them while I was away in the dwarf lands, but how many would survive the harsh training of the demon commander?
I hoped that they would all make it through.
That is what I thought as I prepared to leave.

A New Leaf
When people mention fantasy games and RPGs, they usually think of goblins, elves, orcs, dwarves and magic (apart from the percentage that gets an image of an anti-tank weapon in their mind, I will respectfully put those individuals aside for now). But what if you get neither of those (not even the weapon, I know, sad)? And what if you end up playing as something that doesn't look like an animal at all? And what if the said game you were playing weren't actually a game, but real life changed by irresponsible, beyond-mortal beings? Follow the (mis)adventures of "player" 13241, a.k.a. Treant, as he experiences what it's like to be a walking magical fruit maker (among other things). When the world goes to hell and back, plants are the ones that remain, right?

Only a Demon can Slay the Gods
Gust steps into a world of cultivation and magical arts after his father’s death sends him searching for answers. With his father’s lucky coin in hand, and an indecipherable journal in his back pocket, Augustus Perry stumbles into a world he never knew existed. There, he finds a school of mages who speak of Gust’s father as if he were a long-lost legend. They fear Gust’s world and some even call him a demon. It is only out of respect for the coin’s former master that the mages take him in and teach him their methods for cultivating mana. But how could an immortal renegade swordsman turn into the quiet, withdrawn man Gust always knew? What brought him to Gust’s world in the first place, and why did he never go back? If Gust ever wants to know who his father truly was, he’ll need to embark on the very same quest that drove his old man insane. New Chapters M-W-F. **This is my attempt at western progression/cultivation fantasy, inspired by stories like Cradle, the works of Er Gen, and more mainstream fantasy like the Wheel of Time and the Cosmere books.**

Who Fixes Books Anyway?
On the pretense of a raise, the relatively new employee Pernie is called in to talk with her superiors. NOTE: This is a short story written for a class I took recently. As a result of deadlines, it does not possess the quality (or length) that I would like and is rather thrunkated. Perhaps sometime far in the furture I'll fix it up. For now, I have much more important things to work on, such as my other fiction.
