Chapter 258: It’s Spraying! (3)
Chapter 258 – It’s Spraying! (3)
After flying back to the floating castle with a grim look on his face, Chen Yu moved the Interstellar Portal onto the Earth Spray’s platform .
He then summoned the island-building ship to the platform with his watch and inserted one of its huge and robust pipes into the chlorine outlet .
However, the island-building ship was a product of the 22nd century, and the Earth Spray was produced in the 25th century . There was a difference in specifications . As a result, the pipe connection wasn’t perfect .
To prevent the poisonous chlorine gas from leaking out, Chen Yu plugged the gaps using dense materials .
“All is well . ”
After shaking off the dust sticking to his protective suit, Chen Yu circled around the pipe connection and nodded . Although some gas will still leak into the air, there shouldn’t be any significant problems for now . We’ll wait until the various governments make their own matching nozzles . ”
After saying so, Chen Yu raised his wrist and looked at the time . He then approached the portal, called up the virtual Earth projection, and entered the address sent to him by the American government . “It’s been ten minutes already . The calcium chloride and space capsule should be ready . ”
Buzz .
Accompanied by a low humming sound, the world inside the portal changed from the hall occupied by the Transdimensional Academy’s professors to an open beside a factory .
The open area was currently occupied by soldiers and a large platform stacked with thousands of tonnes of calcium chloride .
Chen Yu could also see the headlights of many trucks approaching from a distance, and these trucks filled to the brim with calcium chloride as well .
Upon seeing the metal arch appearing, the officer in command picked up his communicator . After making a few grunts, he waved his hand and loudly shouted, “Go! Go! Go!”
Immediately afterward, hundreds of robust soldiers jumped onto the platform . Each of these soldiers then picked up three bags of calcium chloride before rushing to the portal under the gaze of Chen Yu and the livestream’s 25 million viewers .
Rustle…
Rustle… Rustle…
In less than five minutes, over a thousand bags of snowy white calcium chloride had disappeared into the Earth Spray’s inlet already . Even so, the inlet still showed no signs of being full at all .

Meanwhile, upon receiving the final component necessary for its operation, the equipment inside the Earth Spray began conducting electrolytic reactions . Simultaneously, the initially quiet platform began to vibrate violently, which severely delayed the soldiers’ transportation operation .
However, the commanding officer quickly responded to the situation and immediately had the soldiers switch to passing the bags from hand to hand . This reduced the soldiers’ footsteps and allowed the transportation process to progress as efficiently as before .
[So, this is a commanding officer? His adaptability is frightening!]
[You’ll end up dead if you can’t think quickly on the battlefield . ]
[You guys are overthinking things . I’m an expert in this field . There is always a staff meeting before the actual operation . ]
[Expert my ass! Do you think everything will always go according to plan?]
[No need to be afraid when faced with an incompetent national football team! Just smile and bet against the team! The best way to overcome an incompetent team is to make money off of it!]
[Brother, you’re talking about the wrong thing…]
[Someone finally went nuts from watching the stream . Take him away . ]
Ten minutes later, all the calcium chloride on the platform had been transported . Meanwhile, the hundred-plus muscular soldiers had grown so exhausted that they saw stars with their eyes . Some of the weaker ones even vomited on the spot .
“Mr . King, the second batch of calcium chloride will arrive in 16 minutes . The total amount is 6,000 tonnes . Please wait a moment,” the commanding officer reported to Chen Yu after stepping through the portal .
“It’s fine . Let these Spartan warriors rest,” Chen Yu said with a grimace . “I’m heading to China’s side . ”
“Understood!”
The officer bowed and directed the “laborers” back through the portal .
“The will of soldiers showered with money really is frightening . ”
Chen Yu sighed and disconnected the spatial link . He then entered the address the Chinese government sent him .
Buzz!
The world inside the metal arch turned from nighttime to daytime .
The chosen site was similarly an open area located beside a chemical factory .
However, different from the Americans, the Chinese side didn’t stack their calcium chloride on a platform . Instead, they stored it inside a massive industrial silo . A brand-new sandblasting machine was also temporarily welded to the bottom of the silo .

When the Interstellar Portal appeared, six soldiers promptly carried the connecting pipe through the portal .
“Hello, Mr . King!”
The site supervisor approached and bowed to Chen Yu . “We have gathered all of the industrial park’s calcium chloride . They can be injected right away . ”
“How much did you prepare?”
“Thirty-four thousand tonnes . ”
“How much?!”
“Thirty-four thousand tonnes,” the supervisor repeated . “This is already everything the chemical plants in the park have . However, it’ll only take an additional ten minutes before we can gather the calcium chloride in Guangdong Province’s Huitian Industrial Park . We estimate there to be over 60,000 tonnes . ”
Chen Yu: “…”
“Commander! We are done docking the pipeline! The connection is perfect!”
At this time, the six soldiers had successfully inserted the special pipeline into the platform’s inlet and turned around to report the situation .
“Go!”
The supervisor immediately raised his hand and gestured to the operator behind him .
Rumble… Rumble…
The next moment, the sandblasting machine let out a deafening roar and pouring tonne after tonne of calcium chloride into the Earth Spray .
[Awesome . ]
[A silent prayer for America’s soldiers . ]
[It’s just a different way of thinking . ]
[It’s a matter of regulations . Conditions are preventing America from refitting storage silos and sandblasting machines near a calcium chloride production plant . The fact that America was able to gather so much manpower and materials in such a short time is already plenty amazing . ]
[+1 . America doesn’t have multi-functional and cooperative industrial parks like China . During emergencies, some industrial parks can even build complete tanks . ]
1
[This is also calcium chloride we are talking about . If the Earth Spray wanted steel, the steel mills in our parks can provide as much steel as it wants . ]
[Say it with me . China is awesome . ]
[Awesome!]
[Awesome! +1]
[Awesome…]
When Chen Yu looked at the soldiers idly standing around and thought back to America’s Spartan warriors, he couldn’t help but sigh ruefully .
Under the sandblasting machine’s efficient injection, it took less than five minutes before the platform lit up with an orange glow .
A warning sound also appeared .
[Calcium chloride supply has passed the standard value . Please stop filling . ]
[Calcium chloride supply has passed…]
“That’s enough!” Chen Yu immediately waved his hand . “Stop! Stop!”
The site supervisor promptly stood up and shouted at the operator, “Stop!”
In response, the machine operator hurriedly pressed the red ‘Stop’ button, and the sandblasting machine instantly stopped working .
Following this, the operator skillfully retracted the leftover calcium chloride in the pipeline, reducing the six soldiers’ burden when they transported the pipeline back to the machine .
“It seems there are surplus materials . ” Facing the camera, Chen Yu shrugged, “This thing can’t handle too much calcium chloride . ”
[Energy reserves have exceeded the standard value . The pressurized furnace will stop operating . ]
“The energy reserves are filled up much faster than I expected as well . ”
After helping the soldiers disconnect the pipeline from the inlet, Chen Yu closed the inlet’s opening and nodded, “Comrades, you’ve worked hard . ”
“You’ve worked hard as well . ”
The six soldiers responded in unison before picking up the pipeline and returning through the portal .
“Hmm… Shouldn’t there be a ‘You’ve served the people well’ following it?”
[UP, what are you thinking?]
[That’s not something that can be casually said . Only people of sufficiently high rank can receive such a reply . ]
[Isn’t the host’s rank pretty high up as well?]
[It’s finally going to spray water . ]
[Eagerly waiting…]
Ignoring the barrage of bullet comments, Chen Yu put on his glove and signaled the two helicopters in the sky to retreat . He then tentatively approached the “cannon” in the platform’s center and looked toward the camera . “First, let’s start it up and test its effects . There might be a loud explosion at the start, so make sure to lower your volume settings .
“Three .
“Two .
“One!”
Beep!
As soon as Chen Yu pressed the ‘Test Start’ button, the platform immediately began vibrating violently .
Even with the protective suit’s support, Chen Yu still subconsciously backed away from the outlet when he sensed the violent shaking coming from his feet .
The next moment…
Boom!!!
A water column with a three-meter diameter emerged from the outlet and pierced the sky like a sharp blade!
“It’s spraying!”
Excited, Chen Yu shouted, “It’s spraying!”

This was my entry for National Novel Writing Month, because why only write one series at a time? The more the merrier! (meanwhile, my keyboard bursts into flames...) I'm also the writer of The Last Science, an ongoing low-fantasy/speculative sci-fi series. If you're familiar with that, you know what to expect here: lots of character-focused drama and dialogue, not a whole lot of traditional action. However, I'm writing a bit differently than usual here, and in a very different structure, so there should be some surprises for returning readers. I hope you enjoy it! [Discord] — for those of you who want to hang out and chat. Cover art (fullsize): Path of Revelation, by taenaron (Tobias Roetsch), modified by Etzoli. Normally I like to do my own cover art from scratch, but I was in a rush for the contest. Might be replaced down the line if I get time. Right as Rage
Only 15 years have passed since the miscreant god, Villi, stole magic from the gods and gave it to mortals. In response the mortals seem to be doing their best to squander this gift. The Kingdom of Abrune regulates it, the church of the Sacred Hierarchies outright condemns it, but one 'wildman' from across the sea begins his journey after being cursed by it. Vakdragnar's curse manifests when he loses his temper. It has driven everyone he’s ever cared about away from him. Out of options and money, he travels to the city of Tirough and quickly finds himself on the wrong side of the law. He is persecuted despite his intentions to do good. How can you stand against evil if everyone you’re trying to protect thinks you’re the villain? And if this curse is truly a part of him now, what if they’re right? **************************************************************************************************** Right as Rage is a story I’ve been excited to write for some time now. I hope everyone is as excited to read it. This story is going to be told over several arcs, with each arc containing 7-12 chapters, and an interlude or two each. I plan on submitting new chapters once a week on Tuesday evenings.
