Battling Records of the Chosen One Chapter 178: Here Came the Revenge
Few trainees made fun of the embarrassed Ning Meng because of Zhangsun Heng’s failure.
The eyes of those trainees who didn’t occupy pillars brightened and they itched for a try upon seeing Ning Meng flop down on the top of the pillar because of exhaustion.
It was the perfect time for them to snatch the pillar!
In addition to them, Lin Xun and the others who had obtained pillars knew that.
In short, after a fierce fight, Ning Meng indeed snatched a pillar, but his situation became more precarious than before.
That was the rule of the assessment that any trainee could keep challenging the others to grab pillars within one hour prescribed as the assessment time.
Such a scene exactly showed the great danger behind the seemingly simple rule.
As some trainees were about to challenge Ning Meng, Ning shouted, “Lin Xun, I’m exhausted. As my friend, you definitely don’t want me eliminated. Thus, I’ll leave the following things to you!”
All the people felt stunned. Was he asking for outside help?
Lin Xun was also taken aback, wondering when this guy became so shameless.
“I…”
Ning Meng interrupted him before he could say something. “Let’s call it a deal. With your combat effectiveness, you can snatch a pillar at any time, can’t you?”
Many trainees who didn’t grab pillars became a little frightened and uncertain. Provided this really happened, they would probably confront themselves with Lin Xun in the first place if they wanted to snatch Ning’s pillar.
Who was Lin Xun?
He might have been belittled by some people before, but who could still look down upon him now after he became No.1 in both the quarterly assessment and war-zone assessment?
“But, I’m afraid I can’t take good care of you. You should clearly know what if two trainees mount challenges to us separately?”
Lin Xun sighed. He didn’t care about the others’ opinions on himself after he granted Ning’s request. After all, he only regarded Ning Meng and Shi Yu as his friends in the entire Bloodthirsty Camp. If his friend asked for help, how could he refuse it?
Moreover, this kind of assistance didn’t break the rules. Even if he was rebuked by the others, he would consider it nothing.
For him, a friend was more important than his own reputation.
However, he had to guard against some unexpected situations.
“No need to worry about that. We still have the toy boy as our backup, don’t we?”
Ning Meng smiled complacently as if he had already taken the situation into account.
“Moron, you even schemed to take advantage of me?”
Shi Yu felt furious. If Ning Meng kept his head low to ask for Shi’s help, Shi would definitely grant his request. However, Ning Meng acted like Shi Yu would absolutely back him, which enraged Shi.

“Well, how could you call this ‘scheme’! Since your friend is in trouble, can you stand by and just watch him suffer?” asked Ning Meng.
Shi Yu’s face changed continuously. If he examined his own conscience, it would be hard for him to do such a thing.
“What if there are three people challenging us three separately?” asked Lin Xun with his knitted eyebrows.
“It’s rather simple. I’ll jump off the pillar voluntarily, and you two will help me get it back. With respect to your pillars, hehe, if someone grabs yours, you can grab them back.”
Like holding the pearl of wisdom, Ning Ming said those with fervor and assurance.
Hearing the conversation among them, the other trainees couldn’t help considering him shameless in unison. When could such a shameless thing like collusion be discussed in public?
It was too shameless!
What made them helpless was that Ning’s request didn’t break the rules, so they could do nothing but curse them in their hearts.
At the moment, Lin Xun and Shi Yu finally understood that Ning Meng had apparently made a plan earlier. Otherwise, he didn’t take such a great risk to mount a challenge to Zhangsun Heng only with his courage.
They would never be fooled by his rough and reckless appearance again in the future!
This was exactly the thought of Lin Xun and Shi Yu at the moment.
The conversation among them aroused the dissatisfaction of the other trainees. They all glanced at them disdainfully and indifferently and indeed regarded them as shameless people.
Helplessly, Lin Xun and Shi Yu could do nothing but help Ning, because they were the friends of Ning Meng, the most shameless person.
“Absurd.”
In the distance, some drillmasters frowned and felt unhappy about this, “It’s an assessment. How can they be so opportunistic in the assessment?”
A few drillmasters echoed in agreement, “If they choose the easy way to win the assessment, this assessment will become meaningless.”
With a poker face, Shu Sanqi waved his hand and said, “Leave them be as long as they don’t break the rules. It’s one of the bits of compulsory knowledge for them to learn how to perceive and utilize the rules.”
All the drillmasters became speechless immediately. They were still unhappy, but they had to admit that Shu’s words were right.
The rules were rigid but men were not. If people in this world only did things according to rules and didn’t know how to adapt themselves to changes, they would be bound by the rules, which would result in many drawbacks and affect their paths of cultivation.
Hearing Ning’s shameless arrangement, those trainees who hadn’t obtained pillars abandoned the plan of snatching his pillar.

However, this didn’t end there. As Ning Meng was about to relax a little bit, someone suddenly spoke loudly, “You three have done too far.”
It was Zhao Yin who was standing with his hands clasped behind his back. His handsome and elegant face was filled with justice.
All the other trainees felt heartened, knowing the interesting part was coming.
Ning Meng said with his furrowed eyebrows, “We don’t seem to need your instructions on how to behave, do we?”
“Indeed, your behaviors don’t violate the rules.”
Zhao Yin nodded, but he changed the topic quickly, “However…when it comes to some things, it’s not just about rules. Since you’re so unscrupulous, I’ll enforce justice on behalf of Heaven.”
As all the people fixed their surprised eyes on him, he flew off the pillar that he originally stood on before and landed on the ground.
He looked around the field and finally fixed his eyes on Lin Xun, “You are the most powerful one among you three. Do you have the guts to accept my challenge?”
He uttered those words sonorously and forcefully, which attracted many trainees to applaud for him.
Ning Meng’s face darkened instantly. It had never occurred to him that Zhao Yin would stand out and directly mounted a challenge to Lin Xun.
The entire plan he had made before was disrupted.
The cold light surged in Shi Yu’s eyes. Zhao Yin was not a rash person. On the contrary, Zhao Yin indulged in self-admiration and was egotistic. Except for Bai Lingshi, Zhao Yin showed his contempt for anyone in the Bloodthirsty Camp.
How could such a kind of person stand out because of his righteous indignation?
There must be some reason.
Lin Xun perhaps was the reason!
“He doesn’t control himself in the end, but the timing is quite good, which makes his challenge not only righteous but also unimpeachable.”
Bai Lingshi had opened her eyes again and looked at Zhao Yin.
She clearly knew that Zhao Yin had felt unconvinced and held grudges against Lin since his ranking was crowded out of the top three in the war-zone assessment.
To her surprise, Zhao Yin was so reckless that he chose to mount a challenge to Lin Xun at the time.
But soon, she figured it out that the timing was rather good. Zhao Yin was on the side of justice, winning thunderous applause for himself and got a chance to defeat Lin and clear his shame, which was really equal to killing two birds with one stone.
Of course, another reason why Zhao Yin did this was that he wanted to prove he was more powerful than Lin Xun in front of Bai Lingshi.
Bai Lingshi was indisposed to admit this, though. She set store by Lin Xun just because his strength indeed deserved her attention, but she wasn’t interested in him at all.
Apparently, Zhao Yin didn’t think so.
“It’s weird. Something is wrong with today’s assessment situation,” murmured some drillmasters in the distance.
“It really is. Once the powerful trainees like Lin and Zhao occupy pillars, they don’t need to worry about being challenged by others. However, Zhao mounts a challenge to Lin at the time. I think there are some mysteries therein.”
Other drillmasters couldn’t see this through, either.
Shu Sanqi kept silent. He seemed to know the reasons therein, but he didn’t anticipate Zhao’s decision, either.
Lin Xun felt greatly surprised. How could he know Zhao Yin held grudges against him just because of a ranking in the war-zone assessment?
Therefore, when Zhao Yin directed at him, he couldn’t help wrinkling his eyebrows. Did Zhao Yin really consider himself a savior? The others concerning in the matter didn’t file complaints, but he directly stood out with an impassioned look, which was quite ridiculous.
“What, Lin Xun, don’t you dare to accept it? Are you just good at ganging up against the others?” asked Zhao Yin indifferently with a trace of indiscernible irony.
Lin Xun said with a smile, “If you want to challenge me, just bring it on and don’t be so garrulous. When you kill someone, will you ask him for his permission? If so, I regard you mindless instead of being graceful.”
Lin Xun was fearless in terms of the battle of wits.
It was well-known that “mindless” was usually used to depict the Voodoo-Barbarians. Now, such a word was adopted to describe Zhao Yin, so you could imagine how sarcastic it was.
Many trainees felt shocked, because they never thought that Lin Xun would be that rude.
Shi Yu couldn’t hold back his laughter. Lin Xun would never suffer losses.
Zhao Yin remained calm as before, but a trace of fury irrepressibly emerged between his eyebrows, and the cold light flickered in his eyes.
“Good, very good! When you’re defeated, I’ll ask you again who is mindless!”
With his piercing and indifferent voice, Zhao Yin flashed past like a dragon coming out of its cave and suddenly soaring into the sky.
At the moment, Zhao Yin was shrouded in the sunlight-like dazzling purple luster as if he was a large purple sun, illuminating and overshadowing the world, and releasing unstoppable momentum.
That was Purple Sun, Zhao Yin’s unique talent property.

The Voice of the World
Jason Elric used to be an ordinary college student living in the heart of San Francisco. He had a part time job, he played online games with friends he got along moderately well with, and he earned reasonably good grades. The worst he really had to worry about in life was turning in his coursework on time and not being late to class. Now, though? Now fighting for his life and running from a horde of giant frogs that want to make him their next meal is just another Tuesday. Thanks to a summoning ritual gone terribly right, Jason has found himself trapped in a world eerily similar to the role playing games games he used to play for fun. Unfortunately for the now ex-college student, everything happening around him is terrifyingly real and if he wants to survive, he’ll have to figure out how to exploit the system for his benefit before it’s too late. The Voice of the World is the first part of what is planned to be a multi-book, Isekai LitRPG story with crafting elements, set in the fantasy world known as Verdania. This is my first time posting online for public consumption, so bear with me as I work to find a style that people like. While I may occasionally write scenes that may deal with heavy concepts, expect this story to be primarily light hearted high fantasy. There will be a lot of common fantasy tropes involved, as this story got its start as a simple practice exercise, rather than any plan to actually post it. However, it’s grown on me, so I felt it’s worth sharing after all. Thus, if you’re looking for more serious/original/unusual stories, you might want to look elsewhere. For the rest of you, feel free to leave suggestions, as well as to point out grammar and spelling mistakes; I’ll do my best to make edits to correct them. I do my own editing currently, and it’s easy to miss things when you know what’s supposed to be there, so such call outs are highly encouraged. Content TLDR: No harems, probably no romance (unless it makes sense for the story later on) (it did, eventually), definitely no sex (keeping this PG-13 or close to it), limited profanity. Does/Will contain mixes of magic and technology (think Warhammer, Final Fantasy); copious amounts of blue tables; race, gender, and sexual equality concepts; crafting sequences; and (slightly, but not overbearingly) strong protagonists. If you don’t like these things, go elsewhere instead of downvoting people for content instead of writing quality. Update Time currently varies, due to personal injury, but the goal is 1/week on Wednesdays, with a possible smaller chapter on weekends if time/health permits.

The boy who fell in love with a tree
This is a story about a boy who fell in love with a tree… A story about powerful people changing the rulebook to stack the odds and line their pockets… I aim to create a story that will transport us so we get a glimpse of what that boy felt. The first 4 Chapters might be classified as a prologue depending on how you look at it. The boy quickly grows and the story really starts when the System arrives on Earth. I’m trying to achieve a relatively slow power progression and guide what we learn at a pace following the people in the story. There will be fighting but It’s more focused on base building. The MC is not all-powerful and all-knowing but he has some significant advantages. I’m trying to create a universe that makes sense in its own context. Much of what you will find, are my own world views, in a magnified way, as to make it for interesting fiction. The story took a life of its own when I started to write and I’m really happy with it. Not all of the tags I have marked will immediately be applied. There is stuff planned for far in the future such as the Sci-fi tag. There might be some cursing and gore but it is not very often. -------------- English is not my primary language, so I ask everyone to be forgiving. If you see a glaring error I would appreciate a msg but it is not feasible to fix everything. And if the story offends you, I wish you happiness, reading what you enjoy. ------------- Img link: https://unsplash.com/photos/EwKXn5CapA4
