Battling Records of the Chosen One Chapter 276: One-Blow Bet
Edited by Lord Immortal
Being watched by the whole audience, Lin Xun felt uncomfortable and laughed bitterly in his heart. It was really a troublesome thing to be famous.
Fortunately, it was not long before a melodious and clear bell rang through the air, and the second round of assessment began.
There were 2600 participants this time, and the rules were the same as those in the first round. They also needed to select their opponents by drawing lots and then fight it out on different platforms.
Only this time, 15 minutes were changed into half an hour!
This meant that in this second round of assessment, if they couldn’t defeat their opponent in half an hour, both sides would be eliminated.
Lin Xun’s opponent in the lottery was named Yue Zhongtian, who was unfamiliar to him. The number of competitor was 49, and the order of fighting was the fourth.
That was to say, Lin Xun would get on the platform with ninety-nine other practitioners on the fourth turn.
Soon, the first battle began. Two hundred practitioners stepped on one hundred platforms and fought against their chosen opponents.
In the vast venue, all kinds of cheers, shouts, and high-spirited roars filled the heavens for a moment, which shocked the earth and made the atmosphere fierce.
Lin Xun waited in the examination area and looked at the performances of others. He found that every practitioner today was indeed an extraordinary elite, and each fight was like a battle between dragon and tiger.
However, few among the top figures deserved his attention. It was not because of the poor fighting ability of the cultivators, but rather because Lin Xun’s might had already exceeded the ordinary level by a large margin. Although the strengths of these practitioners were good, they couldn’t draw Lin Xun’s interest at all.
Even so, Lin Xun still enjoyed watching. Each individual had different skills and had mastered various ways of fighting, and there were many things to learn from them.
Suddenly, there was a sneer in the distance, “Humph, don’t remind me again and again! I know Lin Xun is a fierce practitioner, but do you think that I, Yue Zhongtian, am an ordinary one? You may be afraid of Lin Xun, but I ain’t!”
There was obvious displeasure in the voice.
Lin Xun shifted his sight to the voice and saw a group of people admonishing and reminding a thin man not far away from him. But they only received a scolding from the thin man in return.
Judging from the comments just now, it was apparent that thin man was Yue Zhongtian, Lin Xun’s opponent in the second round of assessment!
He was thin and slender, wearing a blue gown. His eyes shone brilliantly, and his aura was extremely fierce.

His chin rose slightly, and his face was covered with a look of pride. There was a sense of superiority between his eyebrows. It was obvious that he was a very proud young man.
Noticing Lin Xun’s gaze, Yue Zhongtian raised a cold arc on his lips and stared back at him provocatively.
But his companions saw Lin Xun noticing this side, they couldn’t help showing a trace of unnatural expression. They complained to themselves that Yue Zhongtian had spoken too much. They had kindly reminded this fellow to be careful about Lin Xun. Still, he didn’t appreciate them and deliberately raised his volume lest Lin Xun had not heard him. Wasn’t that embarrassing to them?
To Lin’s surprise, among the practitioners around Yue Zhongtian, there were Wen Mingxiu, Qi Yunxiao, and Yuan Shu.
Under Lin Xun’s stare, Wen Mingxiu and others could not help turning their eyes. They seemed to be afraid of his misunderstanding. They even kept a distance between them and Yue Zhongtian.
“It seems that this fellow should also be a student of Mist College.”
Lin Xun looked back and thought.
As for Yue Zhongtian’s provocative look, Lin Xun ignored it directly. He would never become angry just because of such blatant taunting.
However, in Yue Zhongtian’s eyes, Lin Xun’s response meant complete avoidance and compromise.
He laughed gleefully and strode over.
“Lin Xun, many people think you’re not easy to mess with, but I don’t think so.”
Yue Zhongtian stood a meter away in front of Lin Xun, squinted his eyes slightly, and glanced at Lin Xun in an arrogant manner.
This was an undisguised provocation!
When Yue Zhongtian’s companions saw this, their color changed slightly. They scolded Yue Zhongtian in their hearts that he was crazy in finding troubles.
But they also knew that Yue Zhongtian had such a violent temper, and no one could stop him.
As Lin Xun had speculated before, Yue Zhongtian did come from Mist College and was a celebrity.
He was already in Earth-gang Realm in his early sixteen. Although he was not as dazzling as the top figures, such as Shue Shaolin, Yu Wenjing, Le Zhiyou, and Yun Zitong, he could be regarded as first-class.
However, he was arrogant, pretentious, and unpleasant in character and had caused many troubles in Mist College. If not for his outstanding talent in cultivation, he would have been expelled from the College long ago.
At this time, seeing Yue Zhongtian take the initiative to egg on Lin Xun instead of listening to the reminder, the students from Mist College shook their heads and sighed.
Others looked on coldly with scorn.
However, Lin Xun did not look at Yue Zhongtian as he expected, paying no heed to the exasperating guy. He believed that Yue Zhongtian was obviously somewhat abnormal, and to argue with him was to insult his inteligence.

The more Lin Xun acted like this, the more disdainful and aggressive Yue Zhongtian came to be, “Do you want to know how I evaluate you?”
“No.”
Lin Xun answered simply.
Yue Zhongtian, with a dull look, sneered, “You are really arrogant! I admit that your fighting power is really strong, but you are a very shameless person. You’ve ruined the morale and reputation of all the practitioners by helping others publicize their name for money!”
It was not just being impolite for saying things like this, it was almost the same as scolding by pointing at Lin Xun’s nose.
Many people were stunned. They all knew Yue Zhongtian was crazy, but they didn’t expect it to this degree!
His opponent was Lin Xun! Wouldn’t the consequences be dire in case Lin Xun beat him up later?
But that was not the end. Yue Zhongtian sneered with an arrogant gesture, “Of course, this is your personal clown behavior. It’s alright as long as it doesn’t interfere with others. But don’t forget, this is the Province Test, and your behavior represents—”
Lin Xun finally looked at Yue Zhongtian and interrupted, “Can you stop beating around the bush and spit out what you really want to say?”
This fellow was so noisy and annoying that he couldn’t stand it, just like an irritating fly.
Many practitioners in the vicinity felt awe in their hearts. They were aware that the unbridled attacks from Yue Zhongtian had finally angered Lin Xun.
“This fellow is digging his own grave! He thinks that he can disregard Lin Xun with his puny Earth-gang Realm cultivation. He’s too young and naive!”
Qi Yunxiao whispered that even though he hated Lin Xun very much, he had to admit that he was absolutely a monster in cultivation. Various facts had already proved that whoever underestimated him would suffer!
It was ridiculous that Yue Zhongtian still tried to goad Lin Xun.
Like Qi Yunxiao, many people, such as Wen Mingxiu and Yuan Shu, appreciated Lin Xun’s methods, and they were very clear regarding the fact that Yue Zhongtian’s actions this time were silly.
Unexpectedly, facing Lin Xun’s question, Yue Zhongtian answered, “It’s very simple. I want to make a bet with you.”
Lin Xun frowned, “Bet what?”
Yue Zhongtian sneered, “I bet that you can’t kick me out of the platform like you did to Tan Long in one blow!”
What was the fucking bet?
People were shocked and almost couldn’t believe their ears. Yue Zhongtian was so arrogant just now. How could he put forward such an absurd bet?
Gambling that he wouldn’t be eliminated in one blow? This must be the weirdest bet in this world!
If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, people would have thought Yue Zhongtian had a screw loose. They would never agree to this shit gamble, not to mention Lin Xun.
One-shot bet?
Obviously, it was a retreat for progress and put himself in an invincible position. It was almost impossible! Only an idiot would agree to such a thing.
In many spectators’ view, Yue Zhongtian might not be Lin Xun’s opponent, but it was easy for him to withstand one blow from Lin Xun.
Under such circumstances, Yue Zhongtian’s proposal for betting was absurd and totally unreasonable.
Lin Xun also was stunned. He thought that this fellow must have something if he was so arrogant. Who would have thought that everything he had just done was merely an act. His real purpose was to make a ridiculous gamble with himself!
“Are you afraid? If so, ten strikes are also good. Of course, since it’s a bet, there’s bound to be something at stake. Let’s settle at 10,000 gold coins as the wager.”
Seeing Lin Xun not refusing him, Yue Zhongtian became more and more proud and disdainful.
However, out of everyone’s expectations, Lin Xun smiled and said, “Okay, I receive this bet. You should get the 10,000 gold coins ready for me!”
Yue Zhongtian’s eyes were bright; Lin Xun actually agreed!
Others thought he was silly being arrogant and provoking to Lin Xun, but only he knew that he did all this for the sake of this bet!
Yue Zhongtian was not a mindless fool. Otherwise, he would never have his current strength and reputation. Since he had already decided to fight against Lin Xun and his chances of winning would be extremely small, he considered how to minimize the impact of failure in such a situation.
The proposed bet seemed shameless and preposterous, but as long as Lin Xun agreed, Yue Zhongtian was fully confident in his chances. Even if he failed in the second round, it would at least not be shameful!
Even more, he made Lin Xun go along with it!
This was Yue Zhongtian’s ploy. At this moment, seeing Lin Xun finally complying with it, he felt marvelous.
But Lin Xun’s next sentence thrilled him even more.
“There is no need to change the gambling conditions to ten strikes. Just one hit is enough.”
Lin Xun turned to leave the area with this sentence.
Yue Zhongtian was supposed to be fired up and happy when he heard this sentence. However, when he saw Lin Xun’s handsome figure go away, his heart was filled with an intense foreboding.

A Forgotten Hero
(author: This is gonna be a long synopsis I apologise. This should be a prolouge but as you will see I have a seperate prolouge, please forgive me. This fiction as a warning beforehand is as basic as it comes, prettymuch following all story conventions of both the mecha and school life genres. I am mostly writing this to figure out my writing style before I begin something truly creative and uique. I dont wanna ruin something I worked hard on by being illiterate. Also illustrations are at a minimum because all I have access to is MS paint.) In the year 2028 humanity (accidentally) created the means to travel great distances through space in a short period of time. This has led humanity down the road of great technological advancement and also led to the spread of humanity across their home system and just begiining first steps upon other solar systems planets. In the year 2033 the human colonies in space broke from the chains of their old countries creating hyper advanced societies disregarding nationality and any other defining factor. Two space societies formed the Solar Empire a monarchic society with its capitol on the moon Titan which controeld the entire human home system aside from Earth which still remained divided into seperate contries. The other was the Extra-solar Leauge. A mysterious society outside of easy contact range with any other humans besides themselves. To help with construction and other work outside of sealed and breatheable atmospheres of their cities and ships the Solar Empire and Extra-Solar Leauge created what became known as Advanced Movement Shells(AMS). These machines are best described as huge exoskeletons or "mechs", and they aided greatly in getting things done by increasing strength, durability, and the amount of tools able to be used. They also aided in quelling rebellions among extremist groups forming in these new societies. Finally in the year 2050 the Solar Empire having divinated their emperor, and now beliving themselves to be their religions chosen people, the Solar Empire declared a holy war of conquest against all the nations of Earth in order to conquer it under the idea that all humanity was required to bend to their divine emperors rule. The first month of the war whent badly for earth as the divided nations fell one by one due to the Empires superior weaponry among other technologies which made their forces nearly invincible. The AMS were used to great effect due to their almost "magical" level of technological advancement. Some nations able to put up some kind of defense created their own versions of these technological terrors. From there the war became a brutal stalemate and suddenly was won by the forces of earth. Why this is still hasn't come to the light of the common man, but one thing is for certain it took a heroic effort from one, or many people to win it for humanity...
