The Great Ruler Chapter 970 – The Last Vacancy
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
Dust was all around the square. Everything was a mess. Outside of the square, the spectators kept unusually quiet. They were staring at the square in bewilderment. They could not believe their eyes.
They never expected that Mu Chen had a secret move up his sleeve. Jiang Ya was, instead, defeated the moment he entered the battle.
And it had only taken less than a minute!
The Nine Netherbird clan members looked at one another as their expressions turned solemn. They all knew that anyone would be a moron if they continued to look down on Mu Chen, thinking that he was just a human being.
The strokes he used on Qin Xuan and the deadly moves he used on Jiang Ya gave them all chills.
The elders turned quiet as they sat in their seats. Even the green-robed elder, who was unhappy with Mu Chen, had a mixed expression on his face. He could no longer say anything against him.
Phew.
Nine Nether quietly let out a sigh of relief. She felt consoled, as she could tell that Mu Chen had been well-prepared before he came to the Nine Netherbird clan. At least he managed to activate two arrays, which she had never seen before.
Moreover, Mu Chen had another breakthrough in his strength. He had finally reached Grade Six Sovereign. This had significantly increased his combat strength.
She looked at the slender and young-looking figure in the square. Nine Nether’s feelings were complicated. The young man had grown up unknowingly under her control. Now he had grown into a man who was on par with her.
Maybe it would not take too long for this young man to surpass her.
Nine Nether peeked at her father when she thought of this. But her father was watching the square calmly. He seemed peaceful. However, based on Nine Nether’s understanding of her father, she could sense that Tianhuang Elder was looking deep with his eyes.
Mu Chen did well in this battle. Hence, even Tianhuang Elder, who was known to be strict, was also stunned and could not be picky about Mu Chen.
All eyes were on the square while Mu Chen stood on top of the Great Solar Undying Body. He looked at Jiang Ya, who was already out of the battle. His face was also filled with surprise.
He was surprised that the Lotus Spiritual Sword Array was more powerful than he thought. It was an Earth Grade High Ranked Spiritual Array, so it was quite threatening to a Grade Six Sovereign. However, Jiang Ya was reaching Grade Seven Sovereign. He should be more powerful than those top powers who had only the strength of a Grade Six Sovereign. Mu Chen had not been very sure he could beat Jiang Ya previously. But now, it seemed that the effect was extremely good.

The only downside of this array was it was time-consuming. However, the power it displayed was tyrannical. If an Earth Grade Spiritual Array could show such force, Mu Chen wondered what a Heavenly Grade Spiritual Array would be like.
He imagined that even a Grade Seven Sovereign top power would suffer a huge loss under the overbearing power of the Heavenly Grade Spiritual Array.
Mu Chen stopped all his thoughts at this point. He turned around and swept his calm gaze at Qin Xuan across the square.
Qin Xuan had broken off most of the light rainbow chains. The Nine Nether Frosty Sparrow had almost broken free from captivity, too. The Tianluo Array was not strong in its offense. Its primary function was to bind and trap. However, it could not trap Qin Xuan for too long since he was almost a Grade Seven Sovereign, while the Tianluo Array was only an Earth Grade High Ranked Spiritual Array.
However, in a confrontation where only strong opponents were present, Qin Xuan would have been killed hundreds of times during this period.
Qin Xuan sensed Mu Chen’s gaze, and he could not help but shiver. Even though Mu Chen seemed to be calm, Qin Xuan still felt wary of him.
“We are the only ones left.”
Mu Chen gave a smile to Qin Xuan while standing on top of the Great Solar Undying Body. He stomped his feet. The body exploded with radiant golden rays once again. Five scorching suns burst out from its body. Golden rays started to gather in the Great Solar Undying Body’s palms and transformed into a 1,000-foot-long golden spear.
The spear was slowly lifted up and aimed straight at Qin Xuan. Daunting oppression emanated from it.
Qin Xuan’s expression hardened.
“My apologies.”
Mu Chen laughed, and he did not give Qin Xuan any chance to break off his chains. He grabbed the last opportunity to launch a full-force attack so that he could end this battle completely.
Boom!
Mu Chen had just finished his sentence, and the golden lights swept out from his Sovereign Celestial Body. They approached Qin Xuan rapidly. The golden spear struck out forcefully.
As the golden light rippled, space burst into cracks under the spear’s attack. The ground seemed to have been dug up in the square, and there were tracks in the soil.
Qin Xuan watched as the golden light approached him. He gritted his teeth and stomped his feet. The Nine Nether Frosty Sparrow let out a loud cry and spat out a dark blue cold breath.

Qin Xuan also spat out a mouthful of blood. A spiritual light flickered in the blood and swiftly merged with the cold breath. The surroundings immediately turned cold. Dark blue light exploded in front of Qin Xuan and transformed into a dark blue tortoiseshell. On the shell, ancient ice runes appeared.
“Black Tortoise Shield!”
Boom!
As the dark blue ice tortoiseshell was formed, the golden spear had already struck the tortoiseshell with destructive force.
Bang!
An indescribable impact wave burst out, and the ground below cracked into lines. A sun rose slowly at the intersection of the spear and the tortoiseshell.
As the sun rose, cracks started to appear on the spear in the celestial body’s hands. The cracks spread until finally, the spear could no longer resist the impact and burst into pieces.
But when the spear burst, the dark blue ice tortoiseshell also fell apart.
As the spear and the tortoiseshell crumbled together into pieces, Mu Chen had a sharp radiance in his eyes. The next moment, he turned into a light beam and darted out into the shockwave.
As Mu Chen charged, the chains on Qin Xuan also were broken into pieces by the shockwave. Without any hesitation, he staggered back. At the same time, the huge icy bow reappeared in his hands.
He pulled the bow immediately in one swift action. It was so fast, that before the wave disappeared, a huge snowflake arrow with blood staining it was ready to fire. It was exuding an icy cold pressure that could freeze the space.
Qin Xuan was ready to fire his arrows, but before he could release them, his eyes narrowed. The space in front of him rippled, and a long slender finger with spiritual light flickering on it appeared in front of him. The finger gently touched his forehead.
The fingers pulling the bow froze.
Mu Chen showed up in front of Qin Xuan with his finger pointing in between Qin Xuan’s brows. He was looking at Qin Xuan calmly and quietly. He did not seem to mind the snowflake arrow in front of him.
Qin Xuan also fixed his gaze on Mu Chen. They looked at each other. Qin Xuan shivered, as he knew that Mu Chen would burst his head the moment he released his arrow.
Mu Chen did not hesitate.
The spectators held their breaths as they watched the breathtaking fight outside the square. They had not expected that the battle would turn out to be so dangerous.
They kept still for less than a minute, and Qin Xuan could no longer take the stress. He let out a helpless sigh. The arrow on the bow slowly disappeared.
Qin Xuan stared at Mu Chen and said bitterly, “You win.” He knew that although this confrontation seemed to be a draw, Mu Chen could have killed him in a single blow the moment he released his arrow.
If this had been a life-and-death match, Mu Chen could have just killed him without any hesitation.
A smile showed up on Mu Chen’s calm face upon hearing his words. He took back his finger slowly and cupped his fist at Qin Xuan. “Thank you.”
His gentle voice and the smile on his handsome face seemed to be harmless, but Qin Xuan, who had just gone through the match, knew him very well. Mu Chen was a decisive and ruthless man behind that harmless smile.
This human being who had a blood tie with Nine Nether was not as weak and useless as they had previously thought. He possessed moves that were far beyond what anyone could imagine.
Moreover, Qin Xuan had a hunch. He believed that Mu Chen must have had more secret moves up his sleeves in the previous confrontation. He felt a chill in his spine. What would happen if Mu Chen showed all his cards?
He was not an ordinary man.
Qin Xuan secretly let out a sigh of admiration. As proud as he was, he had no choice but to make good comments about Mu Chen.
Mu Chen took two steps back while Qin Xuan was still admiring him in his heart. While the rest were still in shock, Mu Chen looked at the head of the clan and smiled at him.
“Tianhuang Elder, I shall gladly accept the last vacancy, then.”
