The Great Ruler Chapter 1404 – The Secret Behind the Spiritual Pulse
Translator: Nyoi-Bo Studio Editor: Nyoi-Bo Studio
Whoosh!
Between heaven and earth, two bright streams of light shot like meteorites across the sky. As they flew through the sky, the space around them collapsed and emitted waves of destruction, causing the world to tremble. The two streams of light did not resort to superfluous means, but went straight across the sky in the most brutal manner before finally colliding with each other.
Boom!
The impact, however, saw a boundless light raging from the sky. For tens of thousands of miles, the clouds were instantly destroyed, leaving a clear blue sky. Although the battle between the two took place at high altitudes, there were still aftershocks that spread down, shaking the vast earth below and tearing the tectonic plates apart.
Many Earthly Sovereigns’ scalps grew numb, as they could not bear even the aftermath of such an offensive attack.
Crash!
Amid countless shocked gazes, bright light erupted in the sky as two silhouettes shot out, shattering the space behind them.
Mu Chen retreated thousands of feet as his body shook slightly. His body had turned into spiritual energy, and his now resplendent, crystal-like body thoroughly rippled as he attempted to dissolve that terrible force.
On the other hand, Ancestor Xuan Tian had only retreated 1,000 feet or so, and his spiritual body, which was slightly different from Mu Chen’s, seemed to be engraved with stars. As the stars shined, they easily absorbed all the force that invaded his body. In this confrontation between the two, it was clear that the experienced Heavenly Sovereign, Ancestor Xuan Tian, had the upper hand.
Even so, Ancestor Xuan Tian’s face had become much more grave. After this head-on clash, he was aware that Mu Chen’s Heavenly Spiritual Body, though it had just been condensed, was unexpectedly solid. The latter’s foundation was deeply rooted, not just relying on mere luck to ascend to Heavenly Sovereign.
While Ancestor Xuan Tian’s face had grown solemn, Mu Chen was thoughtful as he stared at the former’s Heavenly Spiritual Body. He could also feel some difference between the two. His Heavenly Spiritual Body was as bright as crystal and was extremely pure. Ancestor Xuan Tian’s Heavenly Spiritual Body was strange and mysterious as it radiated with stars.
It seems that there should be a way to strengthen the Heavenly Spiritual Body. But I have just reached this level, and I am quite unfamiliar with the cultivation of a Heavenly Sovereign, Mu Chen murmured in his heart. After all, he had always relied on himself to cultivate and had no elder at any time to guide him. He also lacked supreme powers to back him, thus he naturally lacked some experience. However, in the battle with Ancestor Xuan Tian, Mu Chen vaguely understood and was close to realizing the crux of the matter.

His gaze flickered, and suddenly he burst out again. Like a stream of light, he charged fiercely towards Ancestor Xuan Tian. He did not use any super power, but by virtue of the Heavenly Spiritual Body’s power, he employed the most brutal physical offensive attack.
After entering the rank of Heavenly Sovereign, the flesh body was transformed into pure spiritual energy, and each move contained an indescribable vastness of power. To put it bluntly, even if Mu Chen dealt a casual punch, its power would not be inferior to the Eight Budur’s.
“Hmph, by virtue of your amateur Heavenly Spiritual Body, you dare challenge me?” Seeing this, Ancestor Xuan Tian sneered, only because Mu Chen was at a disadvantage and refused to accept it. However, this was exactly what he wanted. After all, in terms with fighting with one’s spiritual body, he had the upper hand. Therefore, he shook above the shining stars and then burst into a stream of light, colliding with Mu Chen again.
Boom!
High above, the two streams of light constantly collided and became entangled. Relying on physical force, even if only their afterimages touched each other, every collision would bring about earth-shaking rumbles. In the high altitude, the heaven and earth shook violently like thunder raging unceasingly.
Everyone was shocked seeing those two fight as they constantly staggered past each other. The spiritual light surrounding Mu Chen and Ancestor Xuan Tian was so strong, if one was below the rank of Heavenly Sovereign, one would feel pain in their eyes, and their body’s power would be shaken if they watched for too long.
However, although they could not continue to watch, everyone could see clearly that Ancestor Xuan Tian had the absolute upper hand in the confrontation between the two men. Every time they clashed, Mu Chen was shaken off, but he was extremely brave. Even on the losing end, he still broke out in a stormy offensive, charging continuously at Ancestor Xuan Tian.
Liu Tiandao and others looked at this scene and could not help but remark worriedly, “Lord Mandela, something seems to be wrong with our Estate Master.”
Mandela and Ling Xi looked at each other but seemed quite calm. They were too familiar with Mu Chen. He did not deal a fatal blow and was just relying on his strong spiritual body in the battle, but they knew very well that Mu Chen was carrying two of the world’s top superpowers, the Qi into Trinity and the Eight Budur. However, for the time being, he had not used either of them.
Apparently, he was making use of this battle with Ancestor Xuan Tian as a grindstone to hone his skills and understand the difference between Heavenly Sovereigns.
Bong!
The skies above vibrated as a fierce and unparalleled bombardment occurred. Mu Chen’s body shot out thousands of feet, and when he fell, even the space collapsed. Even though Mu Chen retreated, a glint flashed in his eyes. His eyes glowed with excitement, and after he had repeatedly clashed with Ancestor Xuan Tian, he gradually realized what was different between them.

Every time his spiritual energy invaded Ancestor Xuan Tian’s, the stars around his body would dissolve the invading powers. The stars’ movement activated the power of resolving his energy, which was obviously more advanced than the way he had withstood it. This showed that Ancestor Xuan Tian’s Heavenly Spiritual Body was more refined than Mu Chen’s.
His Heavenly Spiritual Body, though overbearing, seemed to be separated from itself by an imperceptible barrier, which made it impossible for him to possess these wonderful powers. On the other hand, Ancestor Xuan Tian could show his power so vividly, he could have the upper hand time and again.
Mu Chen’s gaze flickered as thoughts flitted through his mind. My flesh and bones have all been converted into spiritual energy, and if there is a barrier, it should be deeper in my body. At a certain moment, a spiritual light soared across his mind, and his clashes with Ancestor Xuan Tian played in his head. Realization suddenly dawned on him.
I know what it is! It’s the spiritual pulse! Understanding surged in Mu Chen’s eyes. The supposed spiritual pulse was present in every person who first practiced. They would probably have a deeper memory of it, as the higher the spiritual pulse level was, the faster the training speed would be at the beginning of the practice process.
Mu Chen still remembered that in the Northern Heaven Spiritual Academy, his major enemy, Ji Xuan, possessed a Heavens Grade Spiritual Pulse. But later, when one’s strength reached a certain level, the theory of spiritual pulse gradually disappeared. Many people thought that the spiritual pulse only had a function at first, but in the future, the effect would become smaller and smaller, even disappearing.
In a sense, there was some truth to this, and even Mu Chen had thought it was so, but it was only in this moment that he realized something else. That deep spiritual pulse was not without effect, but many people did not have the strength to refine it. People who had this strength must fulfill a necessary condition. That condition was to step into the rank of Heavenly Sovereign to cultivate the Heavenly Spiritual Body.
Only by transforming the flesh body and the spiritual body could one sense the spiritual pulse in the deepest part of the body and then refine it, so that the spiritual body could be transformed into the Complete Heavenly Sovereign rank.
Mu Chen stood in the air, and a smile appeared on his handsome face. In fact, when he stepped into the Heavenly Sovereign level and achieved the Heavenly Spiritual Body, he had a vague feeling that it seemed to be lacking. Now, after meeting with an experienced Heavenly Sovereign, he finally understood its flaws.
At this time, Ancestor Xuan Tian also saw Mu Chen’s expression, and his gaze darkened. He easily realized Mu Chen’s intent behind his actions. Immediately, the corners of his mouth could not help twitching, and he felt irritated. This boy had used him as a sparring partner, and with the help of their battle, improved his shortcomings.
So much for his earlier talk of Mu Chen being full of pride and an unwillingness to lose. He did not know that he had deliberately fought with him in order to find the perfect way to refine the Heavenly Spiritual Body.
He stared at Mu Chen and grit his teeth. “It seems that you are a smart boy,” he said. “You managed to realize the defects of your Heavenly Spiritual Body so quickly. That’s right, I will tell you straight that it is only by refining the spiritual pulse in the body that the Heavenly Spiritual Body can be refined. The more powerful the spiritual pulse is, the more wonderful the Heavenly Spiritual Body will be. But so what if you know? What’s the use of figuring things out too late?” Ancestor Xuan Tian mocked him.
These experiences, in a sense, were no secret. With Mu Chen’s capability, even if he had not confronted him today, he would have realized it in the future. It was only a matter of time. Moreover, knowing was one thing, but wanting to refine was another. At least, he would not give Mu Chen enough time to cultivate his spiritual pulse.
Hearing Ancestor Xuan Tian’s cold laughter, Mu Chen could not help also laughing and saying, “Now that my goal has been achieved, I have no need to play with you further.”
Upon hearing the remark, Ancestor Xuan Tian’s sarcasm was even more apparent. But before he could speak again, he suddenly saw Mu Chen conjure up seals with one hand.
Immediately, the space next to Mu Chen was shaken as two figures, one black and one white, walked slowly out of the empty air. They looked at Ancestor Xuan Tian coldly. The two figures were exactly like Mu Chen, and when they stood beside him, the boundless spiritual energy of the Heavenly Sovereigns raged in the skies. The whole world trembled violently.
Ancestor Xuan Tian’s sarcastic expression stiffened at this time. Even with his experience, stormy waves of terror surged in the depths of his heart as he looked at the two figures that resembled Mu Chen exactly.

There is a common line of questioning that falls upon students within their first moments at Kingsly. “Why?”. The student asks, “Why am I here?”. This is a futile line of questioning. There are those who remember, and those who do not. I’ll spare you the technical explanation — that’s what we have teachers for. The jist is as follows: those who remember are... how do I put this... more likely. They occupy more time. and the space that time has allowed them — the pertinent amount — is experienced no matter what. Allow me to offer you a bit of personal information: I am not one who remembers. There is no time relevant to me, no space that I occupy. I exist by carving myself here, and continue to exist in the same fashion. You would do well to follow suit. Why am I here? Because I force myself to be. Because the universe, the universes, for all its kicking and screaming, cannot escort me out.

This book is cross-posted on two websites: Wattpad and Royal Road. Both are reputable, high-quality sites. Do not trust this book on other websites. They "scrape" material from reputable sites, posting the stolen material as an original to lure users in, but contain links that include malicious code.
