Chapter 589: Historical Conflict

Qin Feng thought a lot more after this encounter.

He reevaluated Z after learning more about this man, who was there from the very beginning of this era.

But the change of perception lasted only briefly in his mind.

“Mister, are you trying to convince me that Z is not a villain?”

Hu San answered, “I am not in the position to judge Z. I am telling you this so that you don’t dwell too much on this matter. Anyway, I promised Z to make sure you don’t go after him. So stop pursuing a ghost from the past.”

Qin Feng was feeling disgruntled. Indeed, Z had warned Qin Feng not to meddle with his business before he left.

Hu San had his reason for telling Qin Feng this. Qin Feng was a generational prodigy. Hu San was deeply impressed by him and hoped he could let this go. He was giving Qin Feng a reason to stop.

“So I am supposed to watch him expand his influence and do nothing? I know people on top have little interest in a small matter like this. But Z is a bomb waiting to explode. Is the Human Alliance really not going to take action? Should we just let him kidnap innocent people and conduct unethical experiments on them?” Qin Feng asked.

“What if I tell you the Human Alliance allowed him to?” Hu San lamented.

Qin Feng was stunned.

Hu San continued with a helpless smile. “Of course, the Human Alliance didn’t want him to continue the experiment. However, do you really believe anyone can stop Z?”

It seemed rather impossible.

“Thus, the Human Alliance is willing to compromise. After they had the new order in place, the Human Alliance decided to allow Z to use criminals with felony charges as his experimental subject. That way, Z was considered being sided by the Human Alliance for their mutual interest.”

“Eventually, Z had a huge breakthrough in his experiment. He refined his method and finally produced the first batch of mutants. Z would of course keep monitoring his subjects but now an issue arises. Who were these mutants before that?”

Qin Feng answered with a hoarse voice, “Criminals.”

Hu San laughed satisfyingly and did not say another word. He had made his point clear enough.

Z used criminals as study subjects and would not kill them after the mutation.

These criminals, though still being monitored by the lab, were now indirectly released as Z’s subordinate.

Their unlawful nature did not change. Worse still, they acted more brazenly than before with the new power given to them.

Qin Feng sometimes wondered whether Z’s laboratory was the origin of the Dark Coalition. But he had given up on looking for the answer. The Dark Coalition was a general term used by those who did not wish to live under the Human Alliance’s shadow. Z’s activity, on the other hand, had been largely restricted in the Northern region. Perhaps he did not have much to do with the Dark Coalition.

More so, if Hu San was right, then the mutants probably did not work directly under Z’s command. He might be the initiator, but his hands were clean.

After all, Qin Feng was not being directly abducted by the laboratory but by people who were disguised as mercenaries in his past life.

Qin Feng burst out laughing, sarcastically.

“This is not what I am expecting, and the truth left me speechless. But at the very least, I finished what I came here for.” Qin Feng said. He then changed the topic. “I hope to let this go too but it’s impossible. However, I am not the one who messed with him, he is the one who refused to let me go.”

First thing first, Z wished to use Qin Feng in his experiment.

Besides, there were things that Qin Feng could not tell the old man.

Hu San might be powerful but he could not foresee the future, no matter how great a man he was.

Z’s experiment took about a hundred years to finally reach a breakthrough. Unquestionably, he was going to succeed soon.

Before Qin Feng was reborn, there were a mass number of mutants in the Dark Coalition.

In fact, those saved by Qin Feng in Shadong Town had awakened a Spirit Champion like Z. Z was probably still unaware of it.

Qin Feng had no intention to let him find out.

“Mister, I have one last question,” Qin Feng said.

“Yes?”

“During my battle with Z, did I hurt him? Why did his body crack that way?”

Qin Feng wished to gather as much information as possible since he had decided to fight Z. The most important thing to ask was obviously Z’s weakness.

Hu San laughed. “Of course he was hurt. Do you know how powerful the blast was? However, those might just be minor injuries. As for the cracks all over his body… I am not so sure!”

Qin Feng nodded. Hu San’s answer might not have cleared his doubt but it was more than enough.

“It’s fine. At least I know how much energy would hurt him now. Eventually, I will be able to find a way to defeat him!”

Hu San was baffled. ‘This kid really wants to defeat Z this badly? Not that you can find something as powerful as the Sacred Meteor every day you know?’

The old man kept the thought to himself and instead encouraged Qin Feng, “If you can really defeat Z, then I will treat you to my best tea then.”

Not long later, the hover copter slowed down and began to descend. They had crossed the border and the chopper landed on the main road between the two cities.

Qin Feng alighted the hover copter. Before he left, he turned to Hu San and again asked, “Mister, you said you will give Z Hui Lu earlier. Do you mean he is allowed to set up a lab there? So his labs are only at these few places?”

Hu San nodded and said, “As an S-tier, Z is considered obedient. Don’t you think so?”

“I see. I promised you that I won’t touch these laboratories. However, I will continue to purge those who belong to the Dark Coalition from these three states. I believe Z doesn’t really care about his subjects.” Qin Feng smirked and decided to double the bounty on the Dark Coalition members in Hui Lu. This way, many would be willing to do the job for him.

Qin Feng immediately turned around and left in his hovercraft before Hu San could say anything.

“What an ignorant brat!” Hu San murmured to himself, not knowing whether he should feel angry or amused. “But he is really something, this Qin Feng.”

It was difficult to imagine how a C-tier could withstand Z’s multiple assaults. A lot of his abilities were unbeknownst to Hu San too.

“Perhaps, I might be surprised again three years later.”

A sudden blizzard soon stormed the land. A few moments after that, both the old man and the hover copter had completely gone out of sight.
