Chapter 969: 969
Chapter 969: Slaughtering Devil Cherubs
Of course, Qin Feng recognized these things. The Cannibal Tribe was a race with rather stunted intelligence. However, they made up for their lack of intelligence with an insane rate of breeding. And from the tremendous amount of reproduction, sometimes a powerful entity could be born. And these people became the Cannibal Shamans—the ones who could convert and control Devil Cherubs.
To create a Devil Cherub, one would need the souls of an intellectual species.
Qin Feng once joined a battle in a dimensional rift to take on the Cannibal Tribe. He had seen how the entire population of five cities got slaughtered and turned into Devil Cherubs.
These three S-tier beast general Devil Cherubs were probably made from over billions of lives of intellectual species.
And from their appearance, these lives were most likely humans’.
Qin Feng slowed down and switched out his Verdant Emperor Saber.
Sweesh!
The blade raged out of the sheath, as though letting a loud, ringing roar.
The Verdant Emperor Saber was the most threatening weapon to any spirit-type creature.
In a swift turn, Qin Feng faced his foes and swung his saber at them.
A Devil Cherub widened its jaw, trying to bite the Verdant Emperor Saber. Of course, it was rather difficult for any creature, let alone a Devil Cherub, to destroy the Verdant Emperor Saber. However, if they could drip some of their essence onto the weapon, the weapon would begin to lose its purity and transfigure into something sinister—a weapon that could turn on its master.
Of course, Qin Feng knew this. However, his saber was not just any weapon. It was the Verdant Emperor Saber. And it was not that easy for one to pollute its essence.
As the weapon and fang met, the spirits that were ensnared by the Verdant Emperor Saber lunged out to crunch their fangs at the Devil Cherub.
The two gigantic beasts then scuffled mid-air, sinking their fangs into each other. This did not last long though…
“Aaaaaah!!”
The Devil Cherubs let out an excruciating cry before being completely crushed by the Verdant Emperor Saber’s spirits.
In the eyes of the bystanders, it seemed as though Qin Feng had sliced the Devil Cherub into nothingness in just one slash.
“Argh!”
The Cannibal Shaman threw out a spit of blood from his mouth, seemingly injured from the attack too. This was due to the Cannibal Shamans and their Devil Cherubs being bound by blood and spirit. To them, the Devil Cherubs were like their arms and legs. If a Cherub was killed, it would deal a great deal of damage to their internal organs, as though their appendages had been amputated.

It was then, two other Devil Cherubs too had caught up to Qin Feng. They swiftly zipped to his sides and surrounded him.
Qin Feng swung out his Verdant Emperor Saber again, ignoring the Cherubs’ skillful dimensional manipulation.
In an instant, the two Devil Cherubs were slashed through like butter.
Pfft!
Both of the Devil Cherubs were cut in half and perished on the spot!
“Waarghh!!”
The Cannibal Shaman cried out in pain as blood bled out from his eyes, nose, ears and mouth. Losing three Devil Cherubs in such a short time had obviously dealt an impactful blow on him.
Seeing that Qin Feng was able to slay three Devil Cherubs in less than a minute, the Black Feather Tribe man stopped giving chase. If Qin Feng was an easy target, it would be foolish of him to let a prey get away. However, it was quite apparent now that Qin Feng was a force to be reckoned with. And it would be foolish of him to take on this young man recklessly. In fact, it would be foolish to take on this young man at all.
Meanwhile, there were a lot more people beginning to congregate at this spot. The dawnstars were, after all, great treasures. Everyone would want a piece of it.
However, it would be bad news if this many people gathered together here.
“Hehehehehe…”
Then, several specters appeared from the shadows while letting out their signature creepy laughter.
Qin Feng took a look at the specters that had emerged behind the Cannibal Shaman; the Shaman did not seem to take notice of these monstrosities at all.
Well, there was no need to caution him about the specters either.
“This would save me a great deal of trouble, in fact.” Qin Feng smirked.
Of course, there were also several specters emerging behind Qin Feng too.
There were too many people gathering in the same place. Thus, there were about a dozen specters appearing there at once.
The more people gathered in the same place, the more life essence that could be detected. The specters instinctively whiffed out these people like how a shark would detect a prey from the taste of blood in the water.
And that was not all. The specters’ number kept increasing over time, doubling in under a minute.
Now, they had to deal with over twenty specters. And they needed to deal with them fast.

Qin Feng quickly sheathed his Verdant Emperor Saber and whizzed away, evading a specter’s attack.
The Black Feather Tribe man quickly gave chase after seeing Qin Feng evading the specter’s attack. When he got near, his body began to radiate a layer of black mist—a layer of dark runes!
The dark runes had unique properties that could allow its user to conceal his whereabouts. If one put in effort to master the runes, they could even hide their life essence too.
After the Black Feather Tribe man concealed his presence, the specters immediately retreated to hunt for the others—allowing him to flee.

“How naïve!”
Qin Feng smirked as he willed in a layer of dark runes onto himself.
Qin Feng had already put on his Phantom Cape. As such, when this layer of dark runes enveloped him, it felt as though the thin, lace layer of dark runes had completely concealed his entire existence. No life essence could be felt at all from where he stood, as though he had turned into air itself!
Thus, in such a short time, the specters not only did not chase after Qin Feng, they actually started to flock toward the Black Feather Tribe man.
“Impossible!” The Black Feather Tribe man was so shocked to see this happening. His dark rune abilities were something he was born with. Their race was known for their innate abilities to command dark runes at will. However, right now, his dark rune abilities were no match against Qin Feng’s.
He thought he was able to trick the specters to go after the young man. Yet, he did not expect the opposite.
The Black Feather Tribe man quickly glided away at low altitude, trying to flee away. It was quite impossible to fly higher in the Bahamut continent due to the rampaging energies. It would take too much energy for one to fly at higher altitude. It would be especially true for the Black Feather Tribe man because he did not have enough energy to suppress his dark runes, they would turn on him instantly.
To travel on this wretched land was like dancing on the tip of a dagger.
Although the Black Feather Tribe man had fled, this did not mean that the other S-tiers in the scene could do the same.
The Cannibal Shaman had already been gravely wounded by Qin Feng earlier; so, there was no way he could stand a chance against the specters. Sure enough, the specters were able to phase into his body in a short time. Then, his life essence depleted like water down the drain while his body rotted rapidly.
As the originally plump Shaman turned into a thin, frail man and fell to the ground, the essence of death began to grow stronger in the vicinity.
Crack!
The Shaman’s body thudded to the ground and cracked into pieces. It seemed as though his body had completely dried up; there was nothing left of his body other than dust.
An S-tier was felled just like that.
Qin Feng, who was standing nearby, could see that the moment the Cannibal Shaman’s body hit the ground, something else burst up into the air—it was not the dust that got kicked up from the impact, but rather the conscious energy that the Shaman had left behind.
“Absorb!”
Qin Feng quickly rushed to the Shaman’s remains and began to absorb his energy into his starglobe.
A lot of energy would be released when an S-tier died. As such, this was like a great feast to Qin Feng.
In an instant, Qin Feng could feel that his consciousness had gotten stronger by a lot. He could feel that if he could get just a little more of these, he could already ascend to the next tier.
Qin Feng then scanned his eyes on the S-tiers in the area.
As the S-tiers were fighting vigorously with the specters, they could feel a chill running down their backs. They could feel that a sinister glare had locked onto them.
The Black Feather Tribe man too could feel it even though he had already gotten far away from them.

Author's Note: This story is different from other wuxia novels. If those novels focus on characters that struggle from the bottom and reach the top, this story is one where someone already reached the top. I figured it would be interesting to start a novel from this concept so I started it. Well, however this plays through, just like how I finished my previous novel, Doll's Smile, I'll finish this novel too. Of course, I'm writing this novel just for fun. I like to write lighthearted novels like this. Novels that I would read while listening to music and eating snacks on a pleasant and relaxing afternoon. Do forgive me if I'm slow in writing.

A man finds himself lost and far away from his home and this is his story. I know the description isn't much to go on but I'm going to leave it like that in hopes that people end up curious enough to give the story a read. Fair warning, this is my first time writing a novel and honestly would love some constructive criticism. leave a comment below the chapters if you find anything that should be corrected or if you have any questions. PS: I'm really into RPGs and the story is going to reflect that obsession.

“… to grow, for opportunity, for adventure, to be free. Join the colony ship Nao Vittoria. Be the first to live amongst the stars.” It was obvious from the literature that the NextStar corporation wanted the young, the adventurous and the brilliant. So why were the super rich fighting over seats? Why were AI’s trying to stow away? Did this signify a premature end to human/AI civilisation? Why had some questions directed to NextStar been aggressively sidelined? Why did the colonist inflight entertainment trial produce fatalities? In fact, why colonists at all? Those and many other questions, however, boiled down to a single central question. Why was the world’s most advanced AI dumped with a hundred year babysitting job for 50 million people speeding towards an uninhabitable planet? It made such little sense. The only sure way to get answers, catch a ride on the Nao Vittoria and play the inflight entertainment game, Pax Domini. I joined, and this is my story. Well, I feature. OK, I’m more of a spectator. Actually, I’m completely irrelevant I was just there. I’m only the storyteller. But what a story to tell. --------- Hi All, Content will be published weekly usually Saturday and typical posts will be 25oo to 4ooo words per post. Though for some reason the Royal Road word count does not include the content of tables so some posts may not appear to meet this criteria. Currently I have written sufficient unedited content to keep this schedule for the next 12 months (half way through the first story arc). My current productivity would indicate that I can maintain this schedule for well into the second story arch. This also allows for the additional content that will be posed exclusively on Patreon (https://www.patreon.com/StoriesOfIndlu). This additional content follows minor characters, peripheral events, maps and other content that does not take away from the main story. I would love to accelerate the post schedule but to meet this I need the assistance of more beta readers than I currently have. So please let me know if you are interested. - Andy ©2022 Andy Leauter.
